Rude on the phone when ordering, but the vegetable samosa was bomb. A bit pricey for both of these, 20 bucks...

    Unfinished Lamb biryani

I ordered from Mustard Friday May 22, over the phone. It was not my first time but it will be the last time. My wife became sick after eating lamb that was not fully cooked. The whole situation was weird. The young woman who took my order argued with me about how much I ordered. I ordered 2 lamb biryanis, 2 vegetable samosas, 1 aloo paratha and a mango lassi. When she read it back to me, she said 4 samosas, which I missed hearing her say. When I got the total it was higher than I calculated and I realized something was wrong, so I asked to hear my order again. The second time she repeated my order, I heard her say 4 samosas and I attempted to correct the issue. She began to argue that I was in the wrong. I disengaged to prevent escalating into an argument, asked her to remove the samosas, how much was the total and how long the delivery would take. The manner in which she spoke to me gave a bad impression. I don't know how that interaction affected the kitchen staff, but the food I received was not fully cooked. The potatoes in the samosas were hard and undercooked. The lamb in the biryani was also undercooked to the point of being rubbery. Undercooked lamb is the worst, especially because when done right, lamb biryani is amazing! My wife was sick the following morning from the undercooked meat. It was our only meal of the day and it was unacceptable. We didn't even finish eating the food. The most disappointing part was that I have enjoyed ordering from Mustard in the past and felt they were the best Indian restaurant in the area. Now, I must pass that title on to Indian Summer on Lenox ave.

Best Indian restaurant I have tried in a long time! Had to come out of Yelp retirement to write this review. Beautiful new restaurant, which was unfortunately not too crowded. Ordered vinadloo, butter chicken, chana masala, and saag paneer. All come with rice. Amazing flavors, not a bad dish all around. Reminded me of my time in Singapore having great Indian food. The complexion of flavors was on another level. Must try in New York City if you are in the area. I was not expecting much but this place blew my expectations away!

Decebt indian restaurabt, the mulligwatany soup was flavorful, ambience and decor was lively. The jalepeni cheese naan was nice. The chana marsala was good flavor. Service was ok and could have been more attentive. But nice lil restaurant when visiting Harlem, NYC.

Had we known, we would have chosen to dine elsewhere. Unfortunately, the service that followed was extremely disappointing. We felt rushed throughout the entire meal. The lights were turned on and off while we were dining, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere and making it clear that the staff wanted us out as quickly as possible. I barely had time to enjoy my dinner before feeling pressured to finish. To make matters worse, as we were preparing to leave, I went to use the restroom and was told by the manager that it was closed. Considering that I had just spent over $100 on dinner, I found that response both surprising and unacceptable. I work in the food and beverage industry, so I understand the challenges of restaurant operations and always try to be respectful and understanding. I was polite throughout the evening, yet I felt like I was treated as an inconvenience rather than a paying guest. To be fair, the food itself was excellent. However, great food cannot make up for poor hospitality. Based on my experience, I would not recommend dining at this location. The behavior of the staff was unacceptable and fell far below the standard of service I would expect from a professional restaurant.

Some folding tables and chairs on their patio (outdoor seating) and also tables inside. The restroom was quaint and clean! Perfecto! Our dine-in experience felt different than our take away experience. We had larger portions in person than take away (in my opinion) and it was easier to distinguish the dishes in person. All in all, both experiences were great - giving a 4 due to the website saying pickup in 30-40 minutes, but it was ready in like 10 minutes. This caused confusion for both the restaurant and me as I ordered accordingly.

When it arrived, it looked nothing like the real thing -- just Google what Paneer Makhani is supposed to look like. Most Indian restaurants in the U.S. (especially in the South, not NY) throw in a bit of color to make dishes look "Indian," but this one went all out. The dish had maybe five tiny pieces of paneer -- all bright pink, thanks to the food dye -- and that pretty much killed my mood and appetite. It tasted like pasta sauce mixed with sugar and a dash of regret. Honestly, you've probably got all the ingredients at home already, and since there's barely any paneer, you won't miss much by skipping this place. Save your money -- and your taste buds

The one thing that stood out for us was how the staff and patrons all interacted like a family. The wait staff had a true camaraderie and seemed to interact with each other like an well-oiled machine who truly cared about their jobs, the patrons, and one another! How refreshing. As for drinks and food, you likely can't go wrong with any of their menu selections. "Must try" items include the Lemon Dahl -- a.k.a. yellow lentils (trust me; get this) -- the Chicken Tikka, and Seekh Kabab (ground lamb). But every dish we saw come out to nearby tables looked yummy!! I can't wait to go back and try even more dishes! The interior is eclectic and feels cozy! We sat at the bar during our visit, but DM would definitely be great for a date night, too, because it's so intimate feeling inside. The first thing that caught my attention wasn't even the ice cream... it was the names. This isn't your average ice cream shop with "vanilla," "chocolate," and "strawberry." Their flavors have personality! Names like I Live It, How I Get It, Brown Bombshell, and Andy Griffith (their take on classic vanilla) immediately made me smile. It's such a fun, creative touch that fits the neighborhood perfectly. According to the website, their flavors are inspired by Harlem, local culture, and favorite desserts, which makes the experience feel even more unique. The ice cream absolutely lived up to the recommendation. Rich, creamy, flavorful, and worth the stop. Even with a steady flow of customers, the staff kept the line moving, stayed friendly, and made everyone feel welcome. The only reason I'm not giving it a perfect score is the size of the shop. It's tiny! Of course, that's not really their fault, but it can feel a little cramped when it's busy. Overall, Sugar Hill Creamery is a must-visit if you're in Harlem. Great ice cream, creative flavors, friendly service, and a neighborhood gem I'll definitely be back for. Sorry I didn't capture any pics. 4.5/5 stars
