She was super patient and respectful with accommodating our parents' requests, too. 4) Management capability. We had a big fat South Asian wedding consisting of 4 events over 2 days with a thousand moving parts. Jessica coordinated all the vendor contracts and on-site set up. She and her husband themselves were present for the duration of all events, which made all the difference. This is the person you want when something goes wrong. From having an emergency photographer on speed dial to adjusting the timeline on the spot, Jessica kept things in motion. My husband and I wanted to plan something of a wedding celebration dinner, and we knew we needed some help because we live on the other side of the country and also none of our family and friends were available to provide much support. JM Events came recommended to me by my photographer who had been in the wedding industry for over a decade. I set up a call with Lilian and we went over my vision for what kind of event I was envisioning and she discussed what kinds of services JME could provide for our event and also shared that they had planned and coordinated similar type events in the recent past. After our call, I also had meetings with other event coordination companies and it was clear to me that JM Events would be the best fit for us as they seemed the most competent and professional. I also liked that JM Events was based nearby our venue. Two months ahead of the event, Alexis began working with us. We tossed around a lot of high-level ideas we were considering and Alexis provided insight on whether or not or how they would work within the constraints of our venue and timeline. Alexis and Lilian also had vendor recs at the ready at different price points whenever we needed them as well. Over time we narrowed down which ideas we wanted at our wedding and Alexis provided invaluable insight on wedding logistics and restaurant service ops that we should consider in our planning. She attended our venue walkthrough with us so that we could begin to visualize placement for different "stations" at our wedding and also served as our advocate with the various vendors we had hired. She also checked in with us and the vendors over increments in time so that we met all of our venue deadlines and to ensure that all of the vendors were in lockstep with what we were planning.  The week of the event, Alexis worked to make sure to send out event confirmations with all of our vendors so that each vendor was prepared to arrive on time and any accommodation our vendors needed were provided. This was so impressive that my make-up artist asked me where I had found Alexis! Alexis and Lillian were consummate professionals through and through, I felt supported the entire time and any question I had was met with a very considered response that only a very experienced events planning professional could provide.  Our wedding celebration was one of the best days of both my husband and my lives. We also received so many compliments on our event, like "best wedding ever" and "can I copy your entire wedding?" I was on cloud nine the whole night and in watching some of my friend's video footage I saw Alexis working in the background making sure that our timeline was executed exactly as planned.  I know certainly that without JME and Alexis, our night would not have went off as seamlessly as it did and I am so grateful for JME and their team. There's just too…read moremany moving parts to a wedding and we've seen others who were just too stressed out during their own wedding planning process who may have had emotional breakdowns. Therefore, just the thought of trying to plan a wedding was too overwhelming for us and we weren't insistent on it. This was especially so since we were planning for a wedding in Southern California while we live in Northern California. However, we needed a wedding celebration because it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing for our families. We opted for partial planning services with Grace, but it honestly felt more like a full planning service. Since our consultation to our wedding day, Grace was a tremendous help. Not only did she provide recommended vendors and reach out to each of them for quotes, but she communicated with them on behalf of us during the entire process and helped us negotiate prices to help us with our budget. When it came to contracts with our venue, she was wonderful at offering suggestions so that we could meet our F&B minimum without sacrificing guest experience. We also wanted to do a short tea ceremony the day of at the venue, and during the process, Grace helped us work with the venue to accommodate that. Grace also joined in on our calls with vendors which was a huge deal, since we weren't familiar with the venue or what was allowed/not allowed. Grace was also pregnant and had delivered a baby during our wedding planning process, but was still answering vendor emails for us and checking in on us that entire time! We also had a specific type of rehearsal/welcome dinner in mind and Grace went and booked the perfect place for us, even checking in to make sure we were aware of plans and where we were with our budget. Our venue was not so great at communicating, so there was an event the day before our wedding (especially annoying since our wedding party had to book flights earlier), but Grace was great at coordinating our family and wedding party to practice a last minute rehearsal the day of the wedding. We also wanted to get a little crafty for our individualized wedding favors which we decided to tape to the back of our menus, so Grace designed the menus with this favor in mind, and also taped each wedding favor to each guest's menu for us! This was a huge help since guest name tags were not finalized until so close to the wedding date and we were already busy with our work lives and other things. During the day-of, Grace made sure that we were on top of things especially with the timeline. She made sure that we were able to enjoy our food and drink enough water, and would be the "bad guy" for us when necessary. She also made sure our vendors were moving according to schedule and would be the go-to person for everything, otherwise we would have to be the ones constantly communicating to our DJ/MC or all the other vendors. Our wedding day worked out perfectly and Grace's designing (which we initially did not care about) was absolutely beautiful! Our guests kept giving us compliments about all the details and how organized and fun the day felt, and then we realized how important having a wedding planner was for such a big day for any couple. It was the best day of our lives and we are so glad that Grace was a huge part of why it happened! We are so glad she was a huge part of our new chapter!
