After months of planning and deliberately managing all the factors - whether it be between families, money/budget, vendors, prizes, favors, dances, music (just for you Jimmy), and all the other little things... it surprisingly came to an end in an instant, almost like a blurry dream. In hindsight, I think the biggest stresses were from the ones you know you can't fix, like if the music will cue correctly or if all the attendees will arrive on time. That being said, meeting Jimmy was THE BIGGEST relief because he literally filled in all the gaps. This speaks volumes on his level of professionalism, ability to adapt (experience), and his passion for doing what he loves. I would say the best way to help Jimmy make your wedding/event to your liking is by just showing who you are/what you want, and he'll know what to do. We had several meetings prior to the wedding, and the very last meeting (about 2-3 weeks beforehand) was the most crucial and relieving. Thanks to my diligent wife, having a schedule really helped the critical people (Photographer, Planner, MC/DJ, Florist) all be on the same page so things can run as smoothly as possible. He reassured us, and we let it go (or to the best we could). In fact, almost all of our wedding party ran late due to issues at the nearby AirBnB we booked. This led to delays driving to the venue, and 5-10 minutes when we arrived I had to start walking down the aisle.. We had no idea if the venue was ready or not, and I was so nervous and out-of-mind because Jimmy and I didn't have any time to discuss nor rehearse last minute! Yet, he literally saved the day. Jimmy was a pleasure to work with from the very first video call several months before the wedding to the end of reception. During planning, my fiancée and I were often lost on exactly what we wanted. He gave us helpful examples and direction whenever we asked. The plan that we ended up with was very solid and his execution on the day of was perfect. Jimmy's fluency in both Korean and English was critical as he was able to MC for a mixed Korean/English wedding reception of older Korean-speaking family members and family friends and younger English-speaking friends. He also translated my father's toast speech from Korean to English and recited it along with him. At some point during the night, Jimmy made sure to do something fun for the older Korean folks, where he played samples of some older Korean songs to have them guess at a chance to win some prizes that we had prepared. This was not planned but he saw the opportunity to make sure to include everybody in the fun, while our younger friends were at the bar getting drinks and socializing. His timing was great and he read the room very well. Everything on our wedding day ran late (as apparently do most weddings) so Jimmy had to alter the plan somewhat to match the timing as well as the general vibes. He was extremely quick to adapt and is clearly good at thinking on his feet. A good example of this happened at the beginning of our reception. Reception had started late due to the bride and groom photography session running late. Originally the plan was for him to sing an introductory song to start the night in a lively mood, but he read the vibes well and the timing of everything and instead skipped the song and went straight to some pre-planned trivia questions about us. We wanted to enter reception stealthily and we were able to do so while Jimmy took the attention away from us, which was a very intelligent move on his part. Although it was a bummer to have not heard him sing, it was the right move; a good, quick decision made by Jimmy. We gave him suggestions for music and he was able to add similar or complementary songs to the list to round everything out nicely. The dance music at the end of reception was well picked and he executed on our final song directions precisely. His photo booth partner (I'm sorry I never got the chance to get her name!) was also very good. She was very quick but not rushed. There was never a delay between posing and taking photos. She also immediately printed the exact number of copies we needed every time without delay and handed them out to each of us, while still keeping the booth rolling for the next group. Overall, I highly recommend JK Wedding Events, especially if you are holding a Korean-American fluent and culturally mixed wedding and reception. When we started wedding planning, we were going to ask a friend to MC our wedding for us at first. However, we realized it's actually a pretty big favor to ask. We also wanted our friends to not stress and just enjoy themselves. We are so glad we hired Jimmy Koh as our Master of Ceremonies/Wedding Singer instead. If you think you don't need an MC at your wedding, think again! You want to hire someone with experience and intuition, someone that can roll with the punches. For instance, our wedding slideshow had a hiccup so Jimmy provided entertainment for our guests in the mean time and cued our DJ to increase the volume of the music as a distraction while we worked on getting the slideshow up. We also had a mixture of Korean and English speaking guests so when we found a bilingual MC who also sings very well, we were sold! Jimmy recommended some Korean songs for the mother/son and father/daughter dances and even sang too! We had a very difficult crowd to entertain because it consisted of people from all walks of life, including people from rural/urban areas, different racial backgrounds and Hollywood entertainment professionals. My wife trusted his suggestions so much that she would sometimes nag me to "ask Jimmy" for suggestions whenever we didn't know what to do. He always answered back very politely and professionally. Also, pricing is very transparent and he explains everything in detail. I had first seen him at a friend's wedding and he managed that wedding all by himself due to it being a smaller wedding so he charged less. We went with the bigger package, which included the DJ, MC, two event planners, karaoke, and photo booth due to us having a larger crowd. He showed the price for each addition without adding any additional hidden fees. One of the best things about Jimmy is that he is very experienced at handling challenges. One of my biggest frustrations was accommodating to my location's vendor requirements. They required vendors to have liability insurance and also required me to have an event planner. Jimmy had all of these. He also knows a lot of the vendors in the Los Angeles area and has great relationships with them. He was also willing to drive out an hour away from Los Angeles to our venue in Camarillo, CA. I was so grateful we could find a bilingual Korean MC who was willing to do this. He also explains the Korean Paebaek custom very well. Our American friends really loved the Paebaek and they all understood what was going on. Our event coordinator was April and she was very helpful in making our actual wedding work. She actually guided me very well to make several wise choices and narrowly avoid disaster at our wedding (I admit it. I didn't want a rehearsal dinner, but she led me back to the right path). I also had lost a stack of gift cards at the wedding and was totally freaking out, but April found them on the ground. She was searching everywhere for them and really helped me have an enjoyable wedding experience. My compliments to DJ Swann as well for timing everything right. He played all my requests. I also recommend letting him pick some music too because he makes some excellent choices. There were a couple of songs I didn't think of, but my wife was really happy to hear them played at her wedding. The sound setup was fantastic. Our venue didn't provide sound so they brought the sound equipment and microphones for the ceremony AND reception. Sound was great the entire night! Just some tips. Get the photo booth for sure. The pictures make great wedding gifts for the guests . It was also an ideal hang out spot for us to meet guests. I think we ended up taking almost 20 pictures there with other guests. Oh dear, where do I begin? I hired Jk Wedding Events to help out with a majority of my ceremony/reception. We used Jimmy as our MC/DJ and Rachel as our month of coordinator. We also ended up renting a photo booth from Jk Events as well. I have been receiving so many compliments about Jimmy and his work that my phone has not stopped blowing up since my wedding. He walks a really fine balance between Korean/American and entertained all of our guests (this was super impressive because we had our English speaking guests and our parents super Korean/traditional guests). Also, please make sure to ask Jimmy to sing at your wedding. His vocals are AMAZING and we were absolutely blown away! We also had a great time with Rachel. She was a super star and made the wedding so much easier and made our lives stress free. She managed to deal with my parents last minute requests and my mini freak outs like a champ. Hiring Jimmy & his team for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made! I have read many reviews that you need a good MC for a successful & fun wedding. I have been to many boring weddings & boring was the last thing I wanted for our wedding. Therefore I had a few criterias when booking our MC & DJ. 1) They had to be BILINGUAL (Korean & English) bc most of our guests preferred English but we also had older adults who preferred Korean. 2) GOOD REVIEWS. The last thing I wanted was to be stressed with our vendors. I wanted someone who I can trust and not worry based on reviews from others. 3) TALENT. There are people that are just good on stage and can wow the audience. Unfortunately my now husband & I are not these type of people. Therefore, we needed someone else to do the work... hahaha. 4) DJ that can accomodate our song choices & keep our guests engaged. Jimmy & his staff at JK Weddings met my criterias & went above and beyond our expectations. 1) Jimmy spoke English & Korean flawlessly. He went back and forth so naturally. Everyone was able to understand and follow him. He just spoke so gracefully in both languages which was a huge plus for us. 2) Jimmy & JK Weddings has many amazing reviews on Yelp and other wedding websites that gave me the confidence to just go with them. I knew that if we were to hire him I could just trust him and that our wedding will be great. And honestly our wedding was nothing short of amazing. I never thought we would have so much fun at our own wedding. And all my friends have been telling me that it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to... and that says A LOT. Plus Jimmy was really easy to work with. He helped us come up with a timeline for our wedding & gave us song recs for our wedding ceremony. He was flexible when I changed up the timeline. He was even able to change things last minute on the day of... I wanted to add on dancing with our moms for the second end of our first dance and he just said OK and made it happen. He went according to our timeline & didn't forget even the small details I had written out for him. He literally did everything I asked him for & more! Plus he is extremely efficient in responding to emails & texts which I really really appreciated. 3) Jimmy is amazing when it comes to public speaking & just being infront of a crowd. He does it so gracefully with humor, sincerity & fun! Not to mention that he is amazing singer! I have actually watched videos of him singing before hiring him & honestly his singing was beyond amazing in person! Literally gave us chills. Everyone was commenting about how amazing of a singer he is. Per request he sang a song before our grand entrance & also sang our first dance song. He was very willing & never said no to any of my requests. 4) DJ Swan was amazing as well. Music flowed really well & he played songs/artists/genres I asked him to plus music he thought was appropriate. Music was great. It was also cool how he stuck with 90s KPOP towards the end of the night bc the friends that stayed until the end really enjoyed it. He was really good at sensing the atmosphere & vibe of the crowd and playing music to go with the flow. My now husband and I have never danced that much in our lives... let alone our friends. We also hired JK Weddings for lights & photobooth. I was 50/50 about the uplights but Jimmy convinced me that it would set a different tone for our reception and they were amazing! The lights definitely gave it the party atmosphere and up-ed the party vibe. As for the photobooth... We had so much fun with it. Thru JK Weddings we hired Joyfullyours photobooth and it was a good choice! They set things up as planned, had good number of props & the print design was cute! Plus people were able to get however many prints they wanted. The photobooth attendant Patrick was nice & patient. My 5 year old niece got hooked on the photobooth & everytime Patrick pulled out his chair infront of the camera for her to stand on. EVERYTIME! Thank you!!! We hired Sophia and DJ Swan for our wedding at the 1909 on 6/20/21. Sophia was great. Very high energy and engaging with the guests. She ran a treasure hunt and it was a lot of fun and very engaging. RACHEL IS THE BEST!!! For my pre-Covid wedding, I was lucky to get Rachel as my wedding coordinator. She's absolutely the best, and made everything SO EASY. During and on the day of, she was on top of everything. I felt I could really enjoy the day, and she was so sweet and courteous, I never felt rushed to do anything. Her rates are extremely reasonable for what she did, and she's very detail oriented, experienced, and had great advice and tips for me. My husband and I met her for an initial meeting, and after that, all was by email/phone/text. She responded very quickly. Her spreadsheets for me were super helpful. We just had our wedding and we hired JK Wedding for our month of planning duties. Rachel was the planner and she did a wonderful job. We had to execute a wedding in a month and a half and Rachel was on point throughout. As the groom, I just wanted to kind of wing it. She would not let me. At first, I thought that some of her attention to detail was quite tedious and unneeded. However, I understood later the importance of her work and how organized she ran things. Being a project manager by trade, I am used to having to run around and fix things last minute and just make sure things go smoothly. I planned on doing a lot of those things during the wedding as well (even though I shouldn't and my wife wouldn't have liked it). Luckily, Rachel and her team handled everything and made the day rather easy for me. I've heard of many newly married people stating that they were totally exhausted after the wedding. My wife and I were pretty refreshed and we went out for drinks with friends later that night. We got totally trashed after but that is beside the point. Anyways, Rachel is great and she's a wonderful, optimistic, and nice person who answers every beck and call as soon as possible.
