This restaurant has improved a lot since I last reviewed it. This place is much cleaner and the food has greatly improved in taste and freshness. They definitely have an A too now from the Health department.Of course my #1 favorite dish here has always been their famous Pancit Malabon. I've been to other Filipino restaurants that have this same dish but none of them makes it as delicious as Manila Sunrise. Here there recipe is one of a kind and receives the gold medal or blue ribbon from me. Other favorite dishes of mine here are their lechon Kawali. Extremely delicious too but only eat in moderation! Their recipe for this one too is one of a kind and a family recipe passed down through generations. Their lumpia Shanghai is awesome too and not too expensive. My mom ordered 50 pieces for a small gathering last weekend for only $23 and 100 is only $35-$40. And on Thanksgiving their Manila ham is to die for. Very delicious and infinitely better than dry turkey! This restaurant is a real treasure in Carson. A favorite to many Filipinos in Carson including me and my family. It's owned by a nice devout Catholic Filipino family since 1982 so a wonderful 40th anniversary already. Hope this good old Filipino restaurant never goes away or leaves us. read more

Manila Sunrise's pancit malabon is the best!!! We've tried so many different malabon but we keep coming back to Manila Sunrise bc theirs is the tastiest and the best. We attended a party who served malabon and it was not satisfying. Hubby and I drove out to Carson the next day and ordered us some real pancit malabon from Manila Sunrise!!! Price is affordable. We ordered the large catering platter and my family loved it! My nephew took most of it home afterwards. I love the garlic and the type of noodles they use. They can give a little more shrimp, that would be better but I understand how everything is so expensive. Also docking 1 star bc their point point options aren't plentiful. I do love their pinakbet, mongo soup, lechon kawali. It is a family run business and I love seeing the little kids helping out. You can feel the family love!!! I would also like to add that when I came to pick up my large malabon on Thanksgiving day, there was only 1 line for pick up which would have been fine but some people are ordering on the spot and so it delays those who have already paid. I had to wait in a long line even though I already paid. I Suggest that there should be 2 lanes one for pick up for those who already paid and the other lane for those who are paying on the spot. This restaurant is a great representation of Filipino Cuisine and hospitality, My girlfriend and I went here to have lunch cause she was graving for their awesome Pancit Malabon. The ambiance is great cause of their polite costumer service. Just like a typical Filipino.. always helpful and caring. The old man that serves us our order is quiet funny, too. We can see he loves what he is doing. He told us that every holidays they do fundraising to feed homeless, which is heart warming especially in this time of the year. Anyway.. the food is really good and it reminds me of those calenderias (Filipino food stand) back home in the Philippines. My girlfriend and I shared a combo meal since the portion is quiet generous. We ordered their beef steak which consist of a citrusy broth like sauce. It is really delicious pairing with the rice which Filipino food is all about. The beef is so tender that it melts in your mouth. The other ulam (Flipino dish) is called Kare Kare. It is consist of tri-tip meat with vegetable and its iconic peanut butter sauce. Though it is an acquired taste for some, but it is a recommendation to try it at least ones. It is paired with bagoong (shrimp paste) with you know it.. rice. My girl friend and I got fulled quickly even though we shared on a combo meal. Their Pancit Malabon (rice noodle dish) is a must! They serve it a aluminum bowl which you can heat it when you to go it. The portions is plentiful and you can even share it with a friend or two. Went to Manila Sunrise today and had their BOMB buffet for around $10. This is a response to Hazel K., who wrote about not having her palabok on time for Easter.... You have to understand that this place gets TONS of orders....ESPECIALLY for Easter. Of course, there will be many other orders for that holiday, it's common sense. They clearly have a sign that says "We have the right to refuse service". From what I was told, this Hazel lady was giving the owner, (who is a nice old Filipino man) a hard time, so of course, a family member working there would get mad. Maybe if you ordered ahead of time, you probably wouldn't have had that issue. This place has some of the nicest staff working there...and there are many loyal customers who would agree as well. Maybe... just maybe if you avoid "Filipino Time" and have some kind of patience and understanding that something like palabok being ordered for a specific holiday like Easter is totally understandable. Much love and continued respect goes out to Manila Sunrise... they have given back to communities in the Philippines AND in local places around this area. All the food from Manila Sunrise are Authentic Filipino Cuisine. My family and my kids favorite includes Pansit Malabon (specialty), Pinakbet, kare-kare, Lechon kawali, and turon. We order most of the food from Manila Sunrise specially when we have special celebrations. Sometimes, just because I'm craving for it, I just order here and pick up the food. The owner Reyza and her mom are the best! Always nice and generous. During the COVID-19, they donated food for the health care workers. Thank you so much for your generosity! Cash only :( Whhhhyyy??? I took off 1 star because of this. What an inconvenience after I ordered, they packed up my food to go, I headed to the cashier and saw the sign that says cash only, then realized that I didn't have cash with me. I never carry cash. Back in the day this place had great filipino food. Now the selection is limited and the quality on some dished like their Kare Kare had slipped. It's mostly tripe and the servers barely give me you couple small pieces of ox tail. The pancit and lumpia is still good. Although I rarely see ready baked bibinka which was the bomb in the city. Good food, small parking lot, (felt authentic since there were a lot of people speaking tagalog I think?). At first when I walked in I was a bit confused and didn't know what to order or what to get. Lucky for me and my girlfriend that there was like 1 guy there that spoke english and helped us out a lot. He was nice enough to let us try a few samples and explain what the popular dishes were. The lechon, turon, red sausages, and beef/onion dish that was good. We also got the pancit malabon, but to my personal taste the noodles were too soft, BUT it probably is meant to be a bit softer then pasta noodles. I was forced to come by because i wanted to place an order for lumpia and was told i needed to pay at time of order which is fine but i personally do not give my credit card info over the phone therefore i am here. i am here standing in front of the door and it's as if i am a ghost. actually no, a ghost would get a reaction.... they did not acknowledge me and kept ignoring my knocks. Wouldn't even let me tell them i just wanted to PLACE an order and not ruin their cleaning or whatever they were doing. it's just so rude. I ordered something for pick up. The person who took my phone order (a man) was very nice. When I went to pick it up, there was a young lady fixing the hair of a little girl, who seems to be her child, in the dining area. She didn't look at me nor acknowledge me so I thought she may be related to the owner but probably does not have anything to do with the business. I was the only customer and I stood there for him may be about five minutes which felt more like 30 minutes until I saw somebody from the back or kitchen area moving. The lady asked, "pick up?" And I nodded my head. Then she called out to this grim looking young lady in the dining area and said, "Mylene (or sounds like it), pick up.". She slowly got up, still didn't look at me, still didn't smile and just processed my payment! Literally ruined my day! They're pancit Malabon is good but man!, They should not put this woman in charge because she overall ruins the reputation of the store. She looks like she has the weight of the whole world on her shoulder, she looks awful, which would have been offset, if any, had she smiled, but it was just the most awful customer service. This is the best food I have eaten. It is delicious and well priced. During these COVID days everything is take out. I got a two combo plate- a huge portion of rice, soup, and two other dishes - one that was like.a beef stew and the other was their signature fried pork dishes. For EIGHT DOLLARS!!!! The parking lot is extremely small, so it is very difficult to park close. The inside is small, but it is what you would expect from this type of establishment. I was doing some research on Yelp for places in Carson where I could buy a tray of food for an upcoming event and couldn't believe when I read a review one of the reviews that said Manila Sunrise had an all you can eat buffet for $7.99. I called just to confirm and they said that they did and it was from 11:00 to 3:00 pm only. I just got hungry thinking of being able to eat anything I wanted which has always been my quandary at other filipino restaurants because when it comes time to select the 1-3 items for your combo plate, I always want to have a little of everything that's laid out because it all looks so good! Well at Manila Sunrise, you can do that!! I jetted over there after my gym work out and they had the bar stocked LOL! It wasn't a separate buffet for the AYCE special either but rather, they allow you to select from their main serving counter which contained everything they had! I told the lady serving that I wanted the buffet and she gave me a plate of rice and a couple of containers for the more liquid dishes and I went to town. Everything was quite tasty actually! The setting inside is somewhat modest in decor likened to an eatery in a barrio in the Philippines but the people definitely have heart and the food is good. Love the Malabon Pansit. I will give them 3 start because while we were trying to go in. A man was cleaning a trash bin at the very front door. I ask him where is the front door. He said here, wondering why? I said to him, it's odd that you would clean your trash cans at the very front door. He didn't say a thing, and looked at me like "who the hell are you" look? They offer a weekday buffet from 11:30 to 2:30pm which solves my problem of having to choose because I can actually have everything! The restaurant is a typical cafeteria style filipino point-point restaurant and offers one of the largest selection of entrees. Some of the choices of entrees you will find are lechon kawali, pinakbet, bbq sticks, beef steak, mungo beans, binogoongang and more. The food is good and comforting. The kare-kare is the best in Carson in my opinion. If you miss out on the buffet or just don't want to pig out, they have some of the best priced combos in Carson. My one problem with Manila Sunrise is that they always seem to be out of food by around 5:00pm. It seems like your just getting leftovers and nobody is in the kitchen making a new batch.
