I came here a few months ago and was craving some adobo. So I ordered Chicken Adobo, and what a disappointment. It is not good at all. Then after the meal I was asked by the guy who I think owns the place if it was any good, I said yes, then realized, I'm not doing them any good by being nice. So I went back to him and told him the adobowasnt good at all, shouldn't be that sour and salty and soupy. I said that without being rude and I said it to bring it to their attention. I didn't try other stuff but I'm guessing if they cant get their adobo right who's "Filipinos are famous for" then others would be bad as well. Restaurant owners should always taste the food before putting it on the menu, and rate it from 1-10. And if its not 10 to their taste then better not serve it. Rancho Cucamonga location 's prices are too expensive as compared to other location. Their Bistek was $13.65 in a medium bowl . There were few piecesa of meat, no onion, and overflowing of the sauce. It looks liked a dark sinigang , The fresh lumpia did not have slices of eggs and chicarones, the sauce was not the same from the other Manila Sunset. The halo halo is a $1 more, $6.25. The tokwa baboy was in a container they used when they sell the combo. $5.25. Same thing for the limoia shanghai. To too it all , this location does not have the point rewards or loyalty points. I paid $52.05, order # 469383, 8/05/2021. Since Manila Sunset opened in 1985? , I enjoyed their food and this is the only location that is so disappointing. read more

So disappointed. Had tocino, lumpia sariwa, and melon juice. Tocino was mostly fat, and tasted like sugar on pork. I'm used to a good tocino has been marinated in pineapple juice, brown sugar, and lemon-lime soda. They also did not have any garlic fried rice. Lumpia sariwa - was ok. The sauce was too salty. Melon juice was good. I'm willing to try again. Perhaps the pancit melabon will be better. Service - really slow. The guy was very nonchalant. I'm so glad that they placed a Manila Sunset in Rancho Cucamonga! They should open one up the hill in the High Desert. This is our go to when we have parties. Their pancit malabon and babinka are delicious. The food is always great and hot when we eat in. This place is nostalgic since I was a little kid. All the workers are wonderful and kind. I thought i'd try this place since i've been craving lumpia's since I saw Bob C.s review. I think that the place was very clean and inviting. The bathroom for the women was around the corner, they did have 2 separate bathrooms, not just one as another reviewer mentioned. I liked the lumpia shangai- very crunchy and a nice serving of 9 for $3.25. It came w/ the sweet/vinegar sauce. I also got the chicken adobo and the pancit malabon- I'm not Filipino, but the pancit that I am used to and grew up eating was the bean thread noodles w/ alot of pepper. (Is that a different type?) The one they had at Manila Sunset was made from spaghetti noodles in a yellow/lemon oil sauce and had chopped up hard boiled egg and a few shrimp on top. Good, but not what I was expecting. (Probably what the "malabon" in the Pancit was). Sorry, i'll have to brush up on my Filipino food! :) The owner was SO nice, he would be the reason why I'd come back. He addressed me by name and welcomed me since he could tell this was the first time i'd been there. I'd like to try the chicken skewers next time. I was introduced to this little hidden jewel by a friend. I went to the restaurant in National City. While everything was good I'm SCREAMING yum about the Bibingkang Galapong . It's a light cake made from rice flour, egg and milk and baked in a banana leaf. Not too sweet just light and delicious. At $3.25, it's definitely worth a try. Just here to make a remark about their pork sisig, palabok/pancit malabon and garlic fried rice because that's all I came here for. DELICIOUS! Every now and then I crave Filipino food and unfortunately good Filipino food is hard to come by. Actually a consistent Filipino restaurant is hard to come by...it's usually a hit or miss unless you live with your mom and aunties who can be at your beck and call every time you need a Filipino food fix. Back to the 3 dishes I ordered here at Manila Sunset. Pork sisig was amazing!!! It was crunchy (just the way I like it) with such a vibrant flavor! First bite was like an explosion of rich spices and seasoning...definitely not lacking in any flavor what-so-ever! Next, the palabok or the pancit malabon (my mom would beat me with a spoon for not knowing the difference but they are easy to mix up. Same flavor except one has thick noodles and the other thin noodles. I still haven't learned which is which). Ok anyways, the palabok or pancit malabon is yet another dish that did not lack in flavor. Usually this is a dish that would be easy to screw up and would deprive you in flavor if made in bulk that's why for the most part, no Filipino restaurant can ever hold a candle to your Filipino moms and aunties homemade palabok or pancit malabon. That isn't the case here, now I'm not going to say that their palabok/pancit malabon is better than the ones I grew up on but they're running a close 2nd. That's all I can ask for! Lastly, their garlic fried rice. It was awesome! I can't really rave all too much about the garlic fried rice because it's a fairly easy dish to make. I have yet to taste a Filipino garlic fried rice that I didn't like. I mean, if you can mess up garlic fried rice, I wouldn't trust you to boil water...get outta the kitchen! The coconut for bibingka has no milk. I think they are using the milk for other purposes. But Bibingka should always come with fresh coconut. It's very expensive and we can pay. I think they need to serve it right and not be stingy. read more

The food was good, but the service was bad! Prior to going to the restaurant, I tried calling to place my order for more than 8 times and I kept getting re-directed to the voicemail. And so I thought it was a busy day, but when I went to the restaurant to make my order, I have seen that they had no customer except for me and I just so happen to witness that the phone rang and the guy in cashier purposely ignore the calls. I was not greeted when I walked in and I pretty much stood there for a good minute to decide my order. The guy was just looking at me waiting for my order. Pancit malabon, bibingka galapong, pork BBQ all of which are my top favorites. I try not to get anything more since I double a lot of my items. But definitely reasonably priced and the taste is wonderful (for the most part). Located next to the water shop and Popeyes. Food comes out within reasonable time. I knocked off a star because there are times when their service is lacking and their consistency with their bibingka is off. There were a few times when the bibingka came out completely burnt and they still served it to us. If that came out of my kitchen it would definitely be going out in a trash bag.
