Another 15 minutes later, the manager brought out the replacement meal and claimed he had "taken care of it" on the bill. We trusted him and paid--only to discover that instead of removing the original $32.99 meal, they added another $24.99 charge and then waived that new charge. So after making us wait nearly an hour for a meal we had already canceled, the manager made it appear as though he had compensated us by adding and removing a charge that never should have been there in the first place. The original $32.99 meal remained on our bill. That is not "taking care of it." We clearly asked for the incorrectly prepared tri-tip to be removed after the promised 15-minute remake turned into nearly an hour. This was poor service, terrible communication, and an extremely misleading way to handle the bill. Especially for our teenage son who loves this place. I had to pull out my phone and use the flashlight just so we could actually see the grease underneath the grill. He told us they recently changed management and that he had nothing to do with the previous management. When we asked what they could do, the only options were $40 off the bill or we could send them the bill for getting the shoes professionally cleaned. At that point, we just took the $40 off and left. We didn't want to have to keep going back and forth with them, especially when the manager wasn't even willing to properly look underneath the grill. I'm not looking for anything from the restaurant at this point. I just felt this was something that needed to be reported, so I submitted a complaint to Environmental Health. Hopefully they can inspect the equipment and make sure this isn't happening to other customers.
