Marugame Udon, now open in Victoria Gardens Rancho Cucamonga, is a fast-casual Japanese chain known for freshly made Sanuki-style Udon noodles and tempura. The open kitchen showcases daily handmade wheat-flour noodles and savory broths at affordable prices. The cozy decor, ample seating, and friendly staff make it a family-friendly spot. With attentive service and consistently good food, it's a convenient choice for Udon lovers outside LA. Highly recommended. In addition to the signature Sanuki-style Udon, Marugame offers a wide selection of toppings and side dishes, such as sweet potato tempura, shrimp tempura, and soft-boiled eggs, allowing guests to customize their meals. The restaurant's interior features warm lighting, wood accents, and traditional Japanese art, creating an inviting atmosphere for both individuals and groups. Customers can watch the chefs knead and cut noodles behind glass panels and select from various broth options ranging from classic dashi to spicy tonkotsu. There are vegetarian choices and kid-friendly bowls available, ensuring everyone finds something suitable. With efficient ordering and quick turnaround times, it's easy for families or solo diners to enjoy a meal even during busy hours. Whether you're looking for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner, Marugame Udon delivers a genuine taste of Japan with quality ingredients and welcoming hospitality.

Marugame udon is a cool udon shop in Victoria gardens that is really unique! Most of the cooking and prep is visible through a clear partition, so you can actually watch them prepare your order, which is something Ive never seen before! Most of their options are udon variants but they do have some rice bowls and other items. One thing I really liked was there was a tempura bar where you could select individual items. This bar also had an option to get something freshly fried if requested. Despite the cool set up, I was not impressed with my meal. I had the #19 the chicken katsu yaki and my meal did not look like the picture. There was barely any veggies(only a bit of cabbage) and katsu piece I was given had a big section where I think the actual chicken fell out and there was only a fried empty crust. The crust was very well seasoned and delicious but the lack of protein and veggies was not ideal. Maybe I just got unlucky. I do want to shout out the staff though because they were so nice and welcoming when we walked in. The energy felt really good! Date of visit : Aug 6, 2026

8/9/2026 Combined review since I visited within a week. First time I visited, I ordered via self-order kiosk. The kiosk is for TAKEOUT ONLY. If you want to dine in, you need to go to the Order counter and order there. Ordered for early dinner at 5pm. No line. Take Out Order: BEEF GYUDON Added on the side: Shichimi Pepper, Ginger (both at no additional cost) Rice was done well. Not mushy. Beef was slightly dry, it was lacking that moisture and sweetness from the fatty bits of the beef. It could have had more fat in the meat. Fat also means more flavor. However, I do love that they gave a heaping scoopful of beef! The takeout container was big and it can be shared for two. SWEET POTATO TEMPURA Crispy, crunchy, not salty. Sweet potato had a good, soft interior. SHRIMP TEMPURA Crispy, crunchy delicious! I should have gotten two! POTATO CROQUETTE Crispiest of them all! Inside was fluffy with mashed potatoes, peas and carrots inside. This was my favorite! CALAMANSI DRINK Loved! Such a good drink! Very light in tartness, a very fruity, citrus flavor that reminded me of a cross between an orange and grapefruit with a hint of lemon. Second visit. I dined-in, I went as soon as they opened on a Sunday at 11:00am. There were a few people in line. But line moved quickly. Dine-In Order: BEEF UDON Fresh, soft, chewy texture of the udon. Very slurpable! Liked the light dashi broth. Such a comforting broth! The beef was not dry the second time being here and beef was tender and sweet. Really delicious and the portion was perfect for one! TEMPURA Also ordered the shrimp tempura, potato croquette and cheese katsu. Everything tasted delicious! Crunchy and crispy as expected. The cheese katsu was delicious, but one thing is that there was no cheese pull. It was basically fried mozzarella cheese stick. My favorites from both visits: - Beef Gyudon - Potato Croquette - Shrimp Tempura - Calamansi Drink STATIONS It is all self-serve. There are stations to add toppings at the center of the dining area. Another station had utensils, napkins, to go boxes and bowls. Then there's the Return Here station where you throw away the leftovers and leave the spoons, trays and bowls before you leave. It was a bit confusing where to leave the bowls, but you can leave it on the other side of where the trays are. Just push farther to the inside, so it doesn't fall into the trash bin. AMBIANCE + TABLES Casual and clean ambiance, no loud music. Easy to navigate and order at the Order station or at the self-order kiosk. There are plenty of tables both indoors and outdoors! There's a variety of tables. However, the indoor tables have a large bench style cushioned seat on one side for tables for 2 and also have tables for 4. CUSTOMER SERVICE Staff was nice and answered any questions I've had. LOCATION + PARKING Located at Victoria Gardens, right next to Brio Grille on Monticello + S. Mainstreet. Free parking, plenty of outdoor parking near the restaurant and you do not need to walk far to find a good parking spot.

Marugame in Rancho is the awesomest thing ever. No need to go to OC or Chino anymore I can just walk over- Service is great and the system is run very tight. Interior and food line spotless. Prices are more than fair. This is the only place that sells eel over rice and it was really good. I very much love the Japanese business strategy of region-exclusive and seasonal items!! I wish this place great business for as long as I live in Rancho!

My husband and I were here for their friends & family event prior to their grand opening. After that, we've been here a handful of times. My husband is not a noodle person at all. He doesn't typically eat udon or any type of soup noodles, but I think he's converted now and he'll even ask to eat here. It's cafeteria style where you order while you're in line and then by the end you order your drinks and pay. Then you can seat yourself. They also have an outdoor patio and we've eaten out there with our dogs twice so far. Customer service is usually on point when we've dined here. The times where I'm outside with the dogs, someone will help my husband carry the food outside with him. Other than udon, I've also tried their Nikutama Bento. The only negatives are the meals can be pricey, but worth it. You have to pay for the tempura pieces individually. Also I wish the broth in the udon came out hotter. The last couple times, the broth is already luke warm.

Finally. A Marugame udon near my hometown & I no longer have to drive to LA or OC to get it! This udon soup always hits the spot. We even had it in London (& after eating Italian food for a week, I was grateful to have some Asian food!). This udon place always hits the spot no matter which location I'm eating at! The tempura had just the right batter. Fried to the perfect temperature. The soup was good but I wish they added more beef. There was more noodles than meat. My hubby & I got a large bowl to share & it was more than enough for us (since we got a few tempura with it). The total was around $27 which was kinda pricey considering we shared. Otherwise service was excellent. Quick & efficient. The location was in the heart of Victoria gardens making it very convenient to come in to grab a quick bite & go back to shopping. we went on a Saturday night around 6:30pm & there was absolutely no line. I'm glad Victoria gardens is starting to have more diverse food!

First time dining at this location of Marugame Udon, and it was just as yummy as the only other location (Oahu) that I've been to. Food was delish, and the service was good. Only difference is the line doesn't go around the block like in Hawaii...lol! To be noted: if you want piping hot fresh tempura (or other items of the sort), ask them to make it for you. I didn't last night and just pulled it from the self serve counter. It was good, but not sizzling hot like I like it. As for our dinner, we each ordered the chashu tonkatsu style udon and some other goodies. Everything was served fresh and tasty.

    Courtney M.

All the food was very flavorful, if I could critique anything, it would just be the texture of the noodles as I found out it's not really my thing. But the flavor of everything was great. The service was awesome. They were helpful. It's very much like a cafeteria vibe you grab your tray you start your way down order what kind of entrée you want pick sides and pay at the end and then go sit. The dumplings and fried vegetables were our favorite part.

We visit Victoria Garden specifically for Marugame Udon because it's hot and new at Rancho Cucamonga. Restaurant is spacious, the layout is similar with other chains, open kitchen and you order and pay at the end. Mostly self service. They are friendly, and also very busy. This location has a special teppan yaki udon menu. We try the teppan beef yaki ; the chicken katsu looks good too. Other dishes we try are Nicutama udon, creamy broth udon, BK udon large. Basically all the eggs, meat are savory, and soup is on the sweeter side. Udon noodles are chewy and soft. It's tasty and most kids will enjoy it. This Udon place is good for quick meal. Most people will enjoy it. They also have some fritters (a bit less in my opinion).

One thing i love about Marugame is how good all their locations are. I've visited the chino hills and victoria gardens location and they're both amazing. I was too hungry and didn't even take a picture but I got #2 per the server's recommendation and i absolutely loved it! It was a little creamy but not too much, just more than the dashi ones which is what i needed. I felt the dashi is abit too salty for me. The place has plenty of seating too, with a nice view of the outdoor mall so the vibes were very peaceful~

My family and I have been to Marugame Udon in Rancho Cucamonga twice, both times for weekend lunch. Surprisingly, there was no line either visit. This place is basically fast food for udon with a cafeteria-style setup. You grab a tray, order your udon, pick any tempura or sides you want, pay, and then find an open table. It's casual, quick, and easy. We tried the Nikutama Udon, the creamy broth udon, and a few tempura items. Everything was good, but nothing was especially memorable or mind-blowing. It's exactly what you would expect from fast-casual udon--decent, filling, and convenient. Service was fast and friendly, and the restaurant was clean. There is plenty of indoor seating, plus a shaded outdoor seating area where you can bring your dog. Parking is also easy since it's located in an outdoor shopping center, with lots in front and a nearby parking garage. Overall, this is a decent spot when you're craving udon or tempura and want something quick. It gets the job done, but it's not somewhere I would go out of my way for.

Seating area. Very open and spacious.

My fiance came here to celebrate our engagement and he wanted to try it here (since I've been here before). We both ordered the nikutama udon. And grabbed some tempura. While walking down the line to pay, my egg yolk was broken and I noticed something green. When we got to the register to pay the guy said it was an eggshell. Luckily they exchanged it pretty quick and I got a nice, fresh new udon. The cashier was really nice and helpful. As we were enjoying our meal, my fiance asked one of the workers if they do anything for celebrations since we were there celebrating. I told him it wasn't that kind of place, but he asked anyways. Then comes the manager who came to congratulate us and gave us some drinks. He was super nice! Best service I've experienced. The ambiance was chill. It wasn't noisy, but where there are a lot of people it can get loud. They also have outdoor seating.

Marugame Udon is a chain restaurant with locations throughout California and several other states. This was my second time trying the chain while at Victoria Gardens after visiting the Santa Anita location awhile back. Hands down this location was superior in quality, taste, and service. Highly recommend visiting for tasty udon freshly prepared in front of you. Portions are even standardized via a weight system to ensure each visit is just as good. #Beware the line can be long at peak hours and seating challenging!

Just the right amount of salt and garlic, and what a crunch. The hot and sour soup, authentic and better than Chinatown. It's salty, spicy, vinegary, bamboo shoots was crushy too. The roasted duck was spectacular, crunchy skin and flavorful meat. Perfect seasoning. The orange chicken is a must. Crunchy and so so tasty. Every chicken pieces were crunchy and no bad pieces in this batch. This is not your panda Express orange chicken or Panda Inn, this is your Mr Chows Beverly hills orange chicken.
