My favorite has got to be the grilled squid, generous servings and cooked just the way I like it - with a little burnt edges. Came here over the weekend, I was craving pancit, pork & chicken bbq and lumpia's. The pork & chicken bbq skewers were so good as well as the lumpia's ! I was only disappointed in the pancit, I've never had that type of noodle. The pancit also came with shrimp & boiled eggs, we didn't end up eating it. I'm use to the clear glass noodles with vegetables. The service was great, friendly cashier & servers, everything is made fresh & they constantly have people picking up orders. Delicious food! Friendly staff! Took the kids here after the movies for a late lunch. Being a complete Filipino noob, I ordered what I recognized from chatting with friends or hearing about it in TV shows. Lumpia was a must... but what kind? The cashier recommended lumpia Shanghai. We also tried the beef tapa, lechoen, and crispy goto. The kids inhaled the food. Luckily each one had a favorite dish and there were very little fighting, except who gets the last lumpia. Since the kids ate well, we also tried their bibingka a la mode (rice cake with coconut ice cream and toasted coconut shavings) and guinimus for dessert. So good! Manila Sunset is the real deal - very authentic, tasty, and fairly priced. Service is always friendly and helpful. Although they can get busy, staff handles the orders efficiently and with a smile. All times I have ordered there has been a small wait for the food. They prepare the order in the kitchen and serve it fresh. Despite how busy they can get with phone orders and in-person orders, the wait time for the food has always been reasonable. Totally worth the wait once my hubby and I start to dig in! My husband and I have tried several items at Manila Sunset, but some of our favorite items include adobo, bbq sticks, lumpia shanghai, and lechon kawali. We also love to complement all of these dishes with some pancit or garlic rice (if still available by mid-day!). I am fortunate to have grown up with home cooked Filipino food all my life, so when I moved far away, it was essential to find cooking that could satisfy that craving. The house is clean and appealing and there are vivid photos of quite a few foodstuffs. I oldest to try Lechon Kawali and Kare Kare stew, both of which were excellent choices. I also took note that most of the customers were Filipino; a good sign. Out of pure self interest, I spoke to a family at another table and asked as to the authenticity of their native food.
