Great shop, no respect for customers' time. 've had great experiences at Manley in the past--which makes today's visit especially disappointing. I arrived 10 minutes early for a scheduled appointment and greeted my barber. He said he'd get to me after finishing his current client--no problem. But then nothing. No update, no "running behind," no "thanks for waiting." Just silence. After waiting 20 minutes (10 minutes past my scheduled time), I walked up to check in. He seemed surprised that I was frustrated. We've worked together before, and I've gone out of my way to book only with him. But today, he seemed completely unaware that his behavior showed a lack of respect for my time. Delays happen. But respecting your customers' time--and offering a simple heads-up--is the bare minimum. This wasn't that. read more

This place is a great place to get a haircut. Every location that I've been to has been very relaxed, friendly, and full of knowledgeable barbers. The only thing critical that I could say about it is that it is a bit pricey, but let's be honest, it's your hair. You get what you pay for. They do a great haircut, and you can pretty much get any style that you want. I would recommend this to anyone who cares about their appearance. And I'm definitely coming back. read more

After a train wreck of an experience at a popular mass market retail salon franchise chain, I needed help. So, with a quiet sense of desperation driven by the fact that I would be traveling overseas the next day, I booked the first available spot online for Sunday morning. I was so disconcerted by the bad cut (it made me look like I had just been released from prison, and I was worried I no longer resembled my passport photo) that I brought my wife with me for moral support in case the folks at Manly & Son would just shrug and tell me there was nothing they could do for me. But as soon as we walked into their welcoming environment and were warmly greeted by Ernesto, the prospects for the day looked markedly brighter. Thus began "Extreme Makeover, Barbershop Edition." It took some doing, but with patience and an expert touch, Ernesto worked his magic all to a smooth, memorable playlist that only enhanced the experience. In the end, the damage was miraculously undone and I was both relieved and delighted at his artistry. We thanked him for his hospitality, genuine empathy and professionalism. Went there for a moustache trim this past weekend. Work done was good but the barber overcharged me $50 for a moustache/beard trim that normally costs $40. Will not go back there ever again. read more

I called for an appointment on a whim. They were able to fit me in the same day. It was a Sunday and I was there last appoint but the service was still great quality. Didn't feel rushed at all. Very friendly vibes and attentive staff offering beverages while you wait. It's a little on the pricey side but it's Venice baby. Lame jokes aside it's in a busy area with a lot of competition so they stood out for good reason. Would definitely go back next time I'm working in the area and need a cut. read more

This review has nothing to do with their haircuts, which are quite good. The one star is because no one in the store, neither barbers nor customers, wore a mask. This is their choice, but they should make it clear when people book an appointment. In retrospect, I should have walked out, but as a former service industry employee, I feel bad about canceling a reservation at the last minute. read more

I pass about 300 barbers on the hour journey to get to this spot. Found Charly on IG, dude knows what he's doing. 10/10 would recommend. Even though he might hate me for being a Disneyland lovin Vegan, I still know a good haircut when I see it. My wife and my sister both own their own hair salons, and even both of them say this is the best barber they've seen. I've been in Los Angeles for 14 years and was never able to find a good barber. I'm very happy to say that after many different barbers and stylists, that I no longer have to keep looking. Kirill is the absolute best! This was my first time at the shop and when I sat down, I let Kirill know that I didn't really have any particular cut in mind, I just wanted him to make me look good. He got started right away with no questions asked. During the cut I noticed him making sure everything looked perfect multiple times and noticed him being very detail oriented. I am very happy with the cut and I am already excited to go back for my next one. Kirill has incredible skills! UPDATE: Someone from Manly & Sons contacted me after my review taking the feedback into consideration. If anything, I care more for a business that has no problem admitting they had a bad day and taking your feedback seriously. I gave it another try and without mentioning anything, got a great haircut, on time, a good chat with the barber Judah. I'm coming back! Apparently not a first... Made an appointment for 5.30pm and showed up perfectly on time. I had not requested a specific barber and was told I was with "so and so" and she was just finishing up. Around 5.40 she did finish up and took the next client, which was not me. I thought I might have misunderstood and that I was with the guy next to her but when he finished up, he also took another client. I left at 5.55pm. No one had talked to me or said that they were running (very) late. On my way out the guy at the counter said: yeah sorry, super busy today so we're running behind. That is something that you tell your client the moment he enters with an estimate of the wait, not when he leaves. And what is the point of an appointment anyway?! I understand that there may be walk-ins but then you'd have to tell those people in advance they will have to wait if the regular appointments show up. And honestly, running late because it's busy is really not an excuse. I was super busy all day (family, work, gym) and still showed up on time. And yeah, what I would do in such a situation is to offer a free cut or trim for the next time around... not a spoken apology. read more

I wanted to find a barber shop that not only got the job done, but was aesthetically more his speed/style. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised!! I've accompanied him a few times and it's hit the mark every single time. We met and have worked with Judah, who has been absolutely amazing every visit, and then we met the new addition to the team, Kelly, for yesterday's appointment. This group is attentive, really listens to us and what we're looking for, and above all else, EXTREMELY kind and friendly! Kelly worked her magic yesterday (we were looking for an even shorter cut than usual because of the unbearable heat) and he was thrilled with the results!
