I saw nothing but resounding reviews for Marquis at Mann men's grooming studio, and after going there once I realized why and have never been to another barber shop since. Service is always on point, friendly, and relaxed. During my last appointment I was offered a back facial. This was my first time learning and experiencing what that was, and man did I enjoy every minute of it! This is a great place to get your hair and facial hair done. I've been coming here for years. I began using them after a disaster of a hair cut by a local barber place and I was told I needed to try somewhere different. I have curly hair and it's sometimes hard to find people who can cut it well. They do and have done an amazing job cutting my hair, shaping my beard and shaving my face. Once and a while I've gotten their face treatments and they do a great job at that as well. Their business is sharp looking and everything is nice and clean. They give a lot of warnings about their cancel policies for appointments, so it does behoove you to pay attention if you may need to cancel an appointment. I have mixed feelings. I asked for a specific haircut and showed pictures. They said they could do it. At the end they did not do it correctly and said it's because of my hair type. I'm curious as to why they didn't notice it sooner and go with a different style or advise better. They are suppose to be professionals and the reviews look great. They ended up not really changing my hair much. I paid $60 and I feel like I didn't even get there full service(hot towel). Went for a cut with Marquis today for my first-time visit. Absolutely stellar. Hadn't had my hair cut in at least two months because I've been so busy with work and he tamed that mess. This was the first old-fashioned scissor cut I've had since moving to LA twenty years ago - everyone else used trimmers. Small little storefront on Ventura, plenty of metered parking on the side streets. Hot towel, aromatherapy, he even touched up my shave at no charge. I had an appointment with Mario. I don't remember what the service was called but it was $70 for the haircut, wash, facial, massage, and style. I have NEVER smiled so hard after getting a haircut before. I feel like this is the first real haircut I've ever had. I was so incredibly happy with it - and my fiance was too. I've yet to find a place that could give my boys good consistent stylish haircuts in the Valley until now. My boys are ages 7 and 11 and have completely different hair. One is curly and full of body and the others is straight and limp. Mario gave them the best cuts they ever had. You now have a loyal customer for life. From my initial call to booking the appointment I could tell I was in good hands. The receptionist made me feel comfortable with my choice and they delivered as she promised. After getting far too many so-so (or straight up bad) haircuts from the big men's barber chain (rhymes with "Boyd's 99,") I looked to see what else was available in my neighborhood. MANN's lived up to its Yelp hype. It was amazing!!! It was like a day at the spa... no loud music or gimmicks, just class and good barbers. This was my dad's first visit and he will never go back again. To make it short, my dad said from the time he sat in Marquis' chair until he walked out the door took 13 minutes including washing his hair. Marquis told my dad "since you know your hair better than me when you get home call if there is any problem" as my dad doesn't have anything better to do. Debated reviewing this place but after having lived with the cut they gave me for a day I think something has to be said. If you want a medium length men's cut done with scissors, I wouldn't recommend this place. I came in trying to get a trim done after growing my hair out for 8 or so months. I was the first appointment of the day and the stylist was 10 minutes late. Not a big deal as I get everyone has those days, but an apology would have been appreciated. He still gave me my 30 minutes. Got the cut which seemed okay, payed, and left thinking I got a 3/5 cut. So be it. After showering and giving my hair a "reset" I saw how bad it actually was. Insanely uneven and a very straight, blocky cut. No texture or layering like I wanted. I look like Lord Farquaad and Edna Mode's child. I'm in awe how this place has 5 stars.
