Shout out Edwin at Esquire Salon. For starters, the dude helped me cut my long hair so I could donate it(locks of love) and took such care cutting for the cause. Then he washes and cleans you up halfway thru so he can get the details on the final touches. I just worked 60 hrs setting company records for sales and after my cut I feel brand new. But after years of not having a style Edwin worked a couple different looks for me till I found my fit. Don't come to esquire. Or at least the lady hairdresser. It doesn't matter what photo you show her or what haircut you want, she's going to give you whatever she wants and will not listen to you. If you say keep the bulk, consider it already gone. If you say I want to grow it out, she will cut it shorter. Dont go to her unless you literally don't care what you look like. So this review is long overdue. I've been to Esquire a total of 3 times. About a year ago I decided to grow out my hair. I had moved back to the valley and was looking for a reputable barber/stylist that could help me on my journey. Given that I had invested a decent amount of time in growing out, I really wanted to make sure I found the right person. I know many barbers that can give a kick-ass fade, but styling hair as opposed to the cookie-cutter comb-over/pompadour is more of an art. After combing over (no pun intended) TONS of reviews to eliminate favoritism and bias/fake comments I decided to make an appointment at Esquire with Arthur. During my first visit, I met Arthur and gave him an idea about what I was looking for. He was patient and detailed all throughout my appointment. I came in nervous and excited, I was also slightly depressed because of the semi-mullet I had acquired growing my hair due to how the previous barber cut it. After he was done, I really felt like a new person. I had gone with a slightly more conservative cut to see how it turned out and wow, I was super happy. Arthur also gave me tips about how to style my hair type. I left and took his tips, and felt great with the variety of ways I could change my look. Something I couldn't really do before. I was even more satisfied through time, because when my hair started growing again it wasn't awkward and unmanageable, it was just longer. I ended up booking a second appointment with him about 2 months later to prepare for a trip I had planned (didn't happen because of covid) on taking. Since I had a gauge on Arthur's skills I decided to go less conservative and more bold. I let him now that I still wanted to grow it longer and he kept that in mind. Once again I was extremely Impressed. The cut turned out even better than the first. On top of that I only had a rough idea of exactly what I was going for, I showed Arthur a pic of what I more or less wanted, and he delivered even better than I expected. I said earlier that certain cuts are a form of art, and believe me this man is an artist. He is passionate about what he does and extremely knowledgeable. He is also patient,detailed, and on top of that easy to talk to. I am super particular and don't always give top reviews or even review at all, but I know how hard it is to find the right person for a guy trying to grow out their hair and I wanted to put this out there. If you're like me, growing out your hair, unsure of what to do and who to see, Arthur is your guy. 10/10. I will be making yet another appointment soon (been about 2 months) so I could look handsome for my e-date (due to pandemic). I decided to spontaneously get a hair cut during my lunch break and found this place through Yelp. First things first, I absolutely loved it. I came in for a simple haircut, and Anush gave me the VIP package for the price of the regular. I did not know what hairstyle I wanted, but thankfully, she knew my hair more than I did. She showed me things about my hair that I never really realized or paid attention to. The way the hairs on my back flowed a certain way for example. And she cut it according to what would make me look good and showed me how to easily fix my hair to make it look that good every day. I'm really picky about haircuts and my hair is difficult to cut. I read all the great reviews about Anush at this salon and was hesitant to book with anyone else. But with holiday parties approaching, I "took a chance" with Arthur because Anush was not available. Wow, was I impressed with Arthur! He gave me a GREAT haircut. Arthur was really laid back and quietly friendly. It was obvious he was taking the process seriously and I felt really comfortable trusting him. I discovered that Arthur is a talented craftsman and it was obvious he takes his work seriously as a professional. He listened very carefully to what I wanted and repeated back what I said. He added his thoughts and suggestions and I agreed with everything. He did his best to show me what he was saying, allowing me to visualize the outcome before a single hair was cut. He went to work and you could see he was slowly working towards his vision; cut and test, cut and test, etc.... until the desired result was achieved. I am thrilled with the haircut. He took the time afterward to patiently explain techniques to apply product, blow dry, etc. to get the desired result. I'm sure I would be thrilled with Anush, and I may request her service if Arthur is not available. But after visiting Arthur, I am comfortable I do not need to look any further. I found a gem.
