Always good to walk into a place where they greet you with a smile and calling you by name. Even remembering orders or favorite cuts of meat are normal for the staff here. St. Charles County isn't necessarily the mecca of creativity and originality. It would appear that the further one drives from the city the further one gets from the unqiue flavors of urban life. My job takes me to St. Chaz a few times a week, and I am sick of eating at chain restaurants. I finally asked one of the secretaries where I could find something different, and she sent me to downtown Cottleville, a little nook lost in the depths of St. Charles County, for a little taste of Mannino's Market. Right away, I was impressed. All the chalk covered signs pointed to fresh meat and produce, and the staff was very friendly. I ordered the Mama Mannino's: an italian meats trio with provel cheese on a toasted hoagie. They use Boar's Head meat, perhaps not original but certainly nice quality. I was very satisfied. And it was only $4.99! I'm definitely going to work my way down the sandwich menu instead of pounding another Big Mac! read more

Sadly this place has lost its customer focus. Two times, once on New Year's Eve and once on super bowl Sunday they had no interest in making a party sub for us. They would not be even sell all of the stuff for us to put together. If you want a great place who will work with you to help ensure you have something, check out Valenti's Market. Love the service, people and selection but everyone raves about their meat and I have found it average. Their Italian spedini is not great. I could do it better myself. The chicken spedini was an entire breast stuffed with Provel cheese and not spiced very well at all. Real Italian chicken spedini is pounded, spiced, stuffed and rolled in smaller tender rolls or bites skewered like a shish kabob. Theirs was an entire thick breast rolled in bread crumbs- came out chewy and tasteless. The beef spedini looked better, smaller rolls of flank stuffed with provel and supposedly roasted tomatoes and rolled in breadcrumbs. Looked better than it tasted. At $9 for less than a pound it was disappointing. Not spiced well and very few tomatoes. I have never made a beef spedini but I know I could make it better just by following a recipe. They also had beef spedini rolled with ham...why NOT Italian procuitto. Don't understand. Otherwise store is great. read more

The meat market is excellent! They stock seasonally, I think because I found lamb at Easter and great Beef for Christmas. They are always pleasant and when crowded still take time to help (they seem to pull staff from other areas) to assist customer. They have great Italian filed pastas frozen in the front of the store. Went at 11:30 and there were only 3 people ahead of me. Apparently they can only do one sandwich at a time. There were 2-3 guys standing around, not sure why they couldn't have taken sandwich orders. It was my first time and I wanted to try it out. Will not be going back. Left after waiting for 15 minutes because lunch break doesn't allow for an hour to get a sandwich. I am visiting St. Charles from Bastrop Texas and was looking for a place to buy quality meat. I yelped Mannino's and decided to give it a try. It is a small store packed with quality produce, meat, baked goods and a few other fun food items. I could have spent several hundred dollars easily because the prices for everything I priced was reasonable and of high quality. the first things you see when you come into the store are the pies....I could smell fresh apple pie. It was hard but I resisted the urge to buy a pie. As I made my way down the produce section I was impressed with the small but high quality selection they have. Very fresh and fairly priced. The Asparagus was some of the best asparagus I have seen in many trips to the grocery store. I bought two fillet of beef (approx 8 oz) each. They were $5.99 each. Incredibly tasty meat that you could cut with a butter knife. The meat wasn't labeled "Prime" but it was as good as the Prime I normally buy in this cut of meat. The price was about 1/3 the cost of the same cut at Schnucks. We also bought some Italian sausage which I plan to cook tomorrow. Our final purchase for this trip (we will be back) was a hot loaf of Italian bread. The folks were knowledgeable and friendly, the meat and produce was of the highest quality and the price was fair. I wish I had a Mannino's Market in my hometown. read more

My first experience here was a life altering event. Never in my life had I driven 45 minutes away to buy meat. NEVER. But my buddy assured me this was the only place he would ever buy meat, it was THAT good. That was about 5 years ago. Four years ago, I moved to St. Charles, and the first thing I looked up was Mannino's. (I'm not joking-I was excited to have my own house and as a result, my first BBQ Grill!) Mannino's has the best filets I've ever had. The smokehouse burgers are fantastic. The beer brats, I traditionally hate brats, but the beer brats make my mouth water. Kabobs are great, steaks are great, roast cuts, GREAT! The prices are great as well. Boars Head meat is as good as or better than most grocery store prices, and the produce isn't far off either. (speaking of produce, the pre-seasoned potatoes are a MUST TRY!) My traditional stop here is for about 8 smokehouse burgers, 4 filets, a roast, 4 seasoned potatoes, and a bag or two of their house cut fries. The meat is better fresh, but I'm too busy to go every day, so I cook a bit on the day of purchase and freeze the rest for later in the week. Everyone here is friendly as well. Even the customers on the days with the longest waits are enjoyable. Most places, a line is like the pit of whining and complaints, but when in Mannino's meat line, people just seem to feel lucky just to know about this place! (It's true!) Hat's off to one of the best hole in the wall businesses in the area. The only thing that could be better is the parking situation, which can be a challenge, but it's worth every lap around the lot while you wait for a spot to open up! read more

Oh boy... Meat city, at meat village prices!!! You can't beat the filet's, the ribs, the pork, the Boars Head (cheaper than Schnucks!) or the produce (again, cheaper). In fact the whole place is filled with great food, and all less expensive than the local chains (from what I have seen). The butchers, gotta love a good local butcher! Thank you Mannino's butcher for stopping on a busy Saturday to trim up the spare ribs to make them STL style! Grilled them for 20 on each side then baked for 2 hours at 220 and they were falling off the bone! Thank you for the filet's. Is this impacting my health?? Sure, but who the hell cares because it's beef, and bacon for under 6 bucks! Forgot to mention their produce quality... Well I just bought zucccini from them that looked like it was from the prehistoric era. I think they definitely buy from farmers who use Miracle Grow liberally. I love you Mannino's. Mmmm Meat. So, this is my go to place to find me some meat. Why? Because it's cheap, quick and deelish. I was introduced a few years ago to the $5 filet. I think they are $5.49 (damn inflation) But still, how can you pass up a bacon wrapped filet for that price?? If you are a bacon lover, like myself, you need to get their slab bacon. At only $3.29 a lb, it's way better priced than any Oscar Meyer package you'd get a the grocery. There is something about white butcher paper that makes me grin from ear to ear. They also have fantastic pies. I just went there to pick up dinner, I got fresh mixed greens, red potatoes, a filet and a huge NY strip for hubs, and it was a fraction of the cost for dining out. read more

Manninos IS a cute little market in Cottleville, and the meat selection is great! Definately the smokehouse burgers are to die for! Alot of their specialties and marinades are really good! I used to go there for a treat, but upon comparing prices to Wal-mart and the grocery stores, they are actually a better value and they've already doctored it up! They also have fresh produce and such, but I've got to mention the homemade pies! WOW! These are the kind that your grandmother made for you from scratch, really! I shop at Mannino's late afternoon on Sundays I get my meat for meals for the week, lunch meat and cheese, and some produce. I usually buy a bag of ground beef, for 2 meals. I went to use it on Thursday afternoon and the bag of meat was very discolored. I reached out to them and was pretty much told they didn't care. I have never had this happen in the 10+ years I've shopped there. $23.95 to lose in meat is unfortunate and right now on a tighter budget with job changes for my family is very unfortunate. I would have expected better from a family owned business I patronize on a weekly basis spending close to $75-100 each week. read more

I have shopped here since I was much younger. They have evolved from just a simple market to one that I can buy dinner from nearly every evening. They have filet's which are delicious, a standing rib roast that will make you scream. The owner is always there and the ladies at check out are always smiling and are very service friendly.
