Kind and fair review shops do exist!! I called to see if they offered mobile services, because our trailer's breakaway line (they had to teach me what that was) had snapped and the brakes were stuck on. I know zero about trailers or any of the parts I needed help with. Even though I couldn't get it into the shop, they coached me through what the parts were, where I could buy them in my neighborhood, what the replacement would look like, how I could create some temporary solutions, and offered to look at photos and provide some more help. They've won our future business for any trailer needs we have. And no, we are not related. :) read more

I wanted a platform bike rack for my car and Mann's was recommended by a friend. In the Seattle area there's really only two places for hitches, here and Rack n' Road. Rack n' Road will also do a great job but they'll charge more. Mann's did an awesome job! I arrived for an 8:00am appointment. The owner put 2 guys on it and they were done at 8:37am. One of the guys showed me how to use it and I was on my way to work. I'm really happy with the purchase and service from Mann's. Five stars! read more

Before writing this review - I read through some other documented experiences, with the hope that my experience today was an exception. I sense it was not. First - trailering is serious business. When you install the inappropriate parts and/or install them incorrectly, people can get seriously injured or die. The reality is as stark as it sounds - there is no way to sugar-coat it. As someone in the automotive motor-sport business, I need to be very vigilant about getting it right. Efficiency and profitability are great, but professional competency is a requirement. We sent one of our clients over to Mann's (he actually picked the place - we simply directed him to a trailering supplier/installer), since he was going to utilize our car trailer to tow 4+ hours to a track-day weekend, and the electrical socket on the hitch of his BMW X5 was incompatible with our trailer. His vehicle was set up for a 4-wire flat connector, and our auto trailer requires a 7-pin connector. Note that the 4-wire flat connector does *not* have a provision for trailer brakes, and is typically used on light-duty trailers. The 7-pin connector is used on heavier duty trailers (e.g. auto transport trailers, horse trailers), and *does* have a provision for a trailer brake signal. We simply instructed our client to have their hitch electrical connector converted to a 7-pin standard, which again - includes a trailer brake signal. This is what happened instead - Mann's simply swapped out the 4-pin connector for a 7-pin connector, did *not* wire in a brake controller and trailer brake signal, and *never* asked the client what they would be towing. If we did not ask more pointed questions, our client would have simply hooked-up a 6000lb trailer to a BMW X5, and proceeded to tow over a mountain pass with NO TRAILER BRAKES. Incorrectly wiring a 7-pin trailer socket without a brake signal, intended for heavier duty trailers is gross negligence. When contacted by us (our client doesn't know a trailer connector from a hole in the ground), I had similar conversations to others with Bill and wifey. She couldn't stop talking long enough to fully grasp my point, and contradicted herself by saying "we're very thorough", despite the fact that she couldn't find a record of the work, which had only been done two days prior. So, they're thorough, but a work-order from two-days prior can't be found. While her role as Bill's wife is, and should be completely irrelevant to the customer, Bill found it very necessary to point that role out to me when he got on the phone. Uh, ok, she's your wife - so what? Why do you wire 7-pin connectors without a live brake signal lead? His response was that they only do a brake controller on 1 out of every 10 vehicles. Well, that means he sends 9 of 10 7-pin vehicles out the door ready to pull a heavy-duty trailer without brakes. Again - that is negligent. Trailering is serious business - and Mann's is not up to the task, when they wantonly disregard safety for expediency. read more

I bought a Prius and wanted a hitch so I could put my bike rack on my new car. The dealership said that the best 2" hitch was a "Mann's custom" and that they were the experts. I dropped my car off and the dealership took it to Mann's. I got a call 4 hours later saying that the "experts" had ordered the wrong hitch and I'd have to come back the following week to get the correct hitch installed. Like I have time for that...I'll report back if they actually get it right tomorrow. Update: The hitch has been installed and it is the best set up I've seen for my difficult to fit car. The customer service at Mann's was pretty lame though. Update # 2 September 2015 - I had another hitch installed at Mann's recently on a new car. This experience was perfect. The hitch was mounted quickly and I was impressed by the customer service. I think I was actually dealing with the owner this time and he was much better than whoever the former employees were. I was sent here by my Subaru dealer, when I asked for assistance getting a hitch installed for my bikes. I had previously been to Rack And Road, with my last car, and it seemed like a very expensive proposition (to be fair to them, it was a different car). The folks at Mann's were very nice, ready for me when I got there, hitch installed while I waited, and the price was very reasonable. They got me a very nice Thule bike rack, showed me how to work it, and answered every question I had about it. The one downside to the place is that there isn't really anyplace to sit and wait while they do the installation. I did find some chairs nearby that were outside and since it was a sunny day, I can't complain too much. But apart from that one thing, I am happy with the hitch and bike rack, and would recommend Mann's to anyone needing one. read more

For me, Mann's was a huge waste of time. I thought these guys were the experts, so I figured it'd be a cinch to get a hitch that would work on my LR3. All I needed was a trailer arm with an 8" raise. First, the guy argued with me and said he's the expert, and whatever he had in stock was actually what I needed. So I walked out the first time with a 2" arm. That didn't work. So I went back and he had a 10" raise. I tried this and this was too high. The next time in he tried to sell me an aluminum $250 fully adjustable arm. This time I was smart and tried it out on my truck before I left. It didn't even fit on my car, so the guy said "no problem, come in tomorrow at this time and I'll have an 8" inch raised hitch". I came back the next day and he tried to re-sell me the original 2" raise. When I said that didn't work he said "huh, I don't understand why they don't make an 8" inch raise". This was my 4th trip in so I finally said fine, refund my money and I'll go to Walmart. This is when the guy got mad at me, said he didn't owe me any money, and "good luck". Not once did the guy use his "expertise" and measure my trailer hitch, even though one of the times I actually drove into their lot with the trailer attached to my car (with my old hitch which was too low). Very frustrating. Oh, and by the way, the hitches he was trying to sell me were 5,000 pound hitches, not even capable of towing my 6,000 pound load. The next day I looked at my credit card statement and determined that yes, they did indeed still owe me money for the stuff I returned. When I called back the same guy got mad on the phone and said "i don't have time to argue with you", and then he handed the phone over to someone else in their store. She was reasonable and refunded my money. Basically, if you don't do any research, I can see how these guys might seem nice, because they will say "yup, I have what you need". But if you don't check, it's possible that they don't in fact have what you need; instead they are simply selling you whatever they have in stock. Be careful. read more

You never really know a businesses true strength until you have a problem. I had such an experience with Mann's. My trailer hitch needed adjustments due to the expansion of the exhaust system; as it got hot it vibrated and caused noise. The owner and staff worked tirelessly to resolve the issue, which they did! Went to pick up the horse trailer and couldn't use the hitch they installed because it was too low. No problem bringing the trailer home empty using the old hitch. I had Mann install a hitch on my Toyota Highlander several years ago; it's a good thing I did not have to use my spare tire. The hitch they installed "trapped" my spare tire making it nearly impossible to access. When I took it back to Mann, they were able to get the tire down but it was impossible to get it back in place.I asked what they could do for me and they said they could remove the hitch and SELL me another one ... not the kind of customer service I expected. I had them remove the hitch, left it with them and will not go back for any future work. read more

The installation was fast, but it's does not mean they want to make customer happy for the result. The owner said the installation has a life time warranty as long as own the vehicle, but no proof of paper work. I hope I don't need to go back again. Just had ANOTHER hitch installed by the pro's at Mann's yesterday! And, as usual, am very happy with the install on my Legacy wagon. I'm really surprised to read the negative posts about Mann's. Over the past 15 yrs, or so, I've had Mann's install 5 or 6 hitches on a variety of different vehicles. In every case, the work performed by Mann's has been fantastic. I've recommended Mann's to several of my friends and all have had similar experiences to mine. Each time I have called to schedule an appt, they have been able to get me in within a few days. In many cases, I have had to wait for my vehicle. Sure, you might not be able to eat off their showroom floor, but that really isn't something that concerns me when having this type of work done on my vehicles. I'm more concerned about the quality of the products, work performed, and customer service being provided. One one of my recent visits, Mann's even coordinated getting my Tiguan to/from Accutint without any glitches! I will continue to use Mann's for any/all hitch installs for my vehicles. And I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality hitch installation by the folks at Mann's! read more

Zero stars. I've waited two months to write this. Avoid this shop. Took my horse trailer in for service, paid $300+ and thought I was in great shape for a couple of years. They never serviced the crank. Oh well, I thought. Maybe they just don't do that. What about that little battery thing in the tack room? They didn't do anything with that - I don't need that, they said. Hmm. Odd. Oh well. At this point, should have listened to that little voice in my head saying - Go elsewhere. Next decided to get a bed cover, was sold the Retrax. LOVE the Retrax. Paid for installation and here's where it gets ugly. Retrax is a rolling bed cover supposed to lock in any position. Well, I picked up my truck, didn't check their work, got to a horse show and couldn't lock the Retrax except in fully closed position. Went back to Mann's the next week and asked about it - was given a curt "There are eight people in front of you!" even though I'd softly and politely asked about why it might not be locking. Didn't see but one car in their garage, but it was near closing time, so maybe that was a nice way to get me gone. He said it needed an adjustment and to come back another day - just 15 minutes that they needed. I'm thinking, Why didn't they do the adjustment when they installed it, but oh well. I still ignored that voice in my head. Anyway, I didn't go back immediately - too busy - and in the mean time, talked to a friend who used to have a Retrax and sold it. He also bought his at Mann's and told me his story. When he picked up his truck, they didn't put the drain tubes in. At all. I said, "What drain tubes?" So we looked at my truck and yep, NO DRAIN TUBES! My friend said that Mann's had told him that some of them don't come w/ drain tubes. Well, not according to Retrax. For $1700 they ALL come w/ drain tubes. So at that point, I have a $1700 bed cover that won't lock in any position as advertised and no drain tubes, and yes, that weekend it rained and lots of my belongings - sleeping bags, tents, etc - got wet. Not supposed to happen. So I don't trust Mann's to do anything to my truck or trailer. They charged me for full installation and not only didn't fully install the Retrax, but obviously didn't even check the installation before handing me the keys to my truck. Very poor service, in my opinion, and I didn't get what I paid for. Poor work ethic. I called Retrax directly, they sent me drain tubes which took literally less than 30 seconds to install. They also gave me instructions on how to get it to lock in any position. The rails were not installed correctly - they weren't parallel. So I adjusted some bolts = 5 minutes - and now it locks perfectly. Mann's could easily have done this at the time of installation or when I walked in asking about it. And now since I know they don't do the best work and I can't trust that the job is done completely and correctly, I worry about the quality of service on my horse trailer. I plan to pay someone else to do service on it now in case Mann's either missed something or did something wrong. I will not go there again. And reading the other reviews, it sounds like my experience is similar to others. I wish I'd read the reviews before going in. read more

Absolutely love this place! Super friendly service and they are very professional. I have a car dealership and we use them exclusively for adding tow hitches and wiring to our vehicles when our customers request it. We have never had a problem with the hitches that they put on. They are affordable but they don't sacrifice quality! We usually call and get same day appointments. This is heads and tails more quality and better service then we ever got at Uhaul. Wow what an awesome experience. I called around for quotes on hitches instead of ordering parts online and doing it myself. Rack and road wanted 600 bucks installed and was 2 weeks out for a curt hitch setup that costs ~200 online. Didn't bother with uhaul as my car works best with a curt brand hitch, but still isn't perfect from what I read. Mann's quoted me 400 installed, and said they would fabricate it as they do for my type of car. They got me in within 2 days, and did a quality job. That price even included wire kit of trailer lights, ball mount and ball. No cheap Chinese metal here, doing it the way they did things 40 years ago to quote them. Note though not all jobs will require custom work, and they distribute Curt with is a quality product. Highly recommended, and there are several places to hang out close by. read more

Had a 2" hitch installed on my 2018 Forester. Went great. They were extremely fast, courteous, etc. Decent price, too. Took my wife's 2015 Forester to replace the factory hitch with a 2" hitch. Informed them several times it had a factory 1.25" hitch. Again, fast, courteous, decent price. The next day we went on a hike. I sat down at the rear bumper, & it moved! I got up, checked it with my hands, & it was\is very loose! I'm not fat. Called them first thing this morning, & was told that they didn't realize it had a factory hitch (even though I had informed them that it did several times). To shorten this up, they told me that I would have to purchase a $200.00 part that they would install. Don't think I'll be recommending them. read more

Well, let me first say that my day was NOT going well, to say the least. Couldn't sell my tickets/rv pass to Watershed and had to go rent an rv; and of course they can't be rented without electric trailer brakes (or an adaptor on your car). Went and bought the expensive adaptor only to find the factory forgot to include the special screws you need to install it! Auto parts store took 3 different people and almost half an hour to finally find some screws that would work, ugghh! Then, Husband tried to install it for me, only to find Cadillac factory had NOT installed one of the 4 wires needed for hookup. He looked everywhere and couldn't find that one wire that was the MOST IMPORTANT ONE to hook up the adaptor! Called Cadillac dealership and got a referral to Mann's. Took the Escalade in to have it done so I could pick up the travel trailer next morning. I was running way behind schedule now, and very stressed out, but let me just say these guys were AMAZING! They were friendly and personable and told me no problem, they could install that missing wire and run it where you couldn't see it; and have everything done in about 30 mins. Yay! This was good news. My daughter and I went down around the corner to the nail salon so she could get a quick pedicure while they did the work and just as we were getting ready to come back, Bill walked in to tell us the car was ready! There are a lot of little stores in the strip mall around their shop, but somehow he knew where to find us :) Went back to the shop where the work was explained and what I needed to do while hauling the trailer. Bill was great, answering every question I had - and there were a few since it was only my daughter and I hauling this trailer over there by ourselves! I just had a hitch installed on my 2013 Lexus RX and I am very impressed with the quality of their work. I was very satisfied with their previous work on my 2004 Sienna so I decided to revisit them again and I was not disappointed. They even took the time to custom mount the 7 pin plug so that it's nicely mounted and hidden.... very cool. Recently got a hitch installed for my highlander. Installation took about 30 mins and the owner was super friendly. They installed a husky branded hitch but I was expecting a curt branded one. When I mentioned that they were happy to swap it out for a curt one. Turns out the only difference between those 2 were the brand name and finishing ( matte vs glossy). I had a trailer hitch installed on my Audi A4. I priced Mann's Hitch and places like U-Haul. I decided to pay a very few dollars more and go with a locally owned company... banking on better service. Mann's installed the hitch. When I got home and installed, my bike rack in the hitch, the bottom of the rack was quite close to the ground, and would bottom-out when I encountered deep dips or speed bumps. I took my car back and asked if they could modify the installation to correct this. Bill, the owner, did a minor modification (at no-charge), which fixed the problem. Very friendly and competent! I had called every shop in the area, including my dealership and the best any of them could do was the following week. This place is great. I dropped in today to get a hitch for my Forester. They were able to work on it right away and the whole thing took less than an hour. The price was similar to other area places, but the service and speed was fantastic. The woman who runs the front was super friendly. My only complaint is that it's a little tricky to find, and they don't have a waiting area for customers. We hung out at a Deli a few doors down and it wasn't too bad.
