I enjoyed the food here! It's hard to find options in Kona, much less good Mexican food in Hawaii at all, but Manny's will be my new go-to in south Kona! The service is friendly, and a handful of seats inside for you to enjoy there. My friends really enjoyed the lemonade and horchata. Carnitas were good, maybe not the best I've had but definitely would order again!

    Shrimp taco we scarfed down

Went with the recommendation of a local friend, the shrimp tacos were great the rice and beans not so much per the Arizona friends I dined with. The service was order at the counter and it was brought out to you. Nice little Mexican restaurant.

Great breakfast stop on the way to Captian cook monument, clean bright restrauant done in latin themes. The food was cooked to order everything was fresh, my bacon burrito was loaded with eggs and bacon and a tad of cheese. The spanish rice was amazing. The hueavos rancheros came with 2 perfectly cooked eggs. Service was fast and friendly they also have a drive-up window so they work both the counter and the window so be patient. Cold drinks Airconditioned lobby, next time we will stop in for dinner.I hear the menudo is a must try so hopefully we are around on a sunday. Just wish they had a salsa bar...

Came here for the Menudo on Sundays only. Very good except they don't add hominy for some reason. Never tried anything else from here, but it all looked very tasty. If you're on the Big island near Kona, and you're dying for menudo this is the place. I added my own hominy

Loved this place! Amazing food and great service! Try the crunchy tacos and Spanish rice.

This place is literally amazing. As a Mexican American it was hard to stop at a Mexican restaurant. But this place is amazing from the nachos to the militas and the sopes it's so good. If you want Mexican please stop here. If you get the shrimp tempura only expect 2 shrimps though everything else is veggies

Coworker stated this was the closest he's had to Cali Mexican food since moving here. Very lofty statement. So off we went... ...arrived to something that looks like it could be in LA. But that's when the similarities ended. I ordered a fish burrito and the pupusas. Total was almost $30... After 20 minutes the food arrives! The burrito was okay but had quite a bit of romaine lettuce in it. Never had lettuce in a burrito before. And I never will again. It was a soggy mess. Burrito 5/10. The pupusa's looked promising but that was it. The consistency was weird and the flavor of it was just bland. For the price, it's not a must order. But it was better than the burrito. Overall not worth the 30 minute drive from Kona town. Will keep hunting for good Mexican food.

Best taquitos in the Kona area! I love their food. Salsa is good. Portions are huge! The lemonade is fresh!

Horrendous service. We left before getting our food. I don't think they like tourists.

There's something about a flower being pinned to your hair as you're seated to eating a bowl of saimin as Unchained Melody plays in the background that brings a nostalgic smile to your face and makes you feel right at home. Oh - and if you ask the server what's in the Kona Beef Curry Stew... it's beef and curry. Ha. Tellin' them city folk like it is.

They have a TV showing historical clips of the Japanese immigrants who moved to Hawaii. We learned so much just dining there! The servers were very nice and friendly. They even offer free, hot green tea. It wasn't crowded when we went there for lunch. The server said we could order from the dinner menu too. The restaurant is decorated with a bunch of old family photos. It's not a fancy food location, but a place that is in the locals' hearts. Also, it's not standard Japanese American food, so don't come in looking for rolls and such! Instead, they serve fresh, perfectly prepared Japanese food with a Hawaiian twist, favorites like saimin and shrimp tempura. The large saimin ($16.17) was delicious and really hit the spot. Toppings were Spam, eggs, and veggies. Simple, but tasty! Shrimp tempura appetizer ($14.85) was a pretty large sized dish. The pieces have a lot of crunchy batter and the kids loved it. It was a bit greasy, but that's to be expected. DH got a Oyako Donburi with sashimi ($21.93). Wow, the sashimi was truly amazing! So tender, it just melts in your mouth. The eggs were cooked with bamboo pieces which kinda threw DH off. I liked them, but DH would've preferred it without. The flavor is sweet/salty and pretty mild. It came with miso soup and some pickles. Parking is right in the front and backs into the main road. It can be spicy getting out if traffic is heavy. They don't have a lot of bathrooms, so there might be a wait. Those are the downsides. Otherwise, a wonderful local place to eat!

Found this place was open till 1 pm and they served pancakes. Nice, because the alternative would have been Denny's...no thanks! Nice little hole in the wall where you order at the window and they serve you your food at the table. I ordered the Seafood omelet and a side of Macadamia Nut Pancakes, wife ordered the Boneless Short Rib plate. My only gripe was the pancakes only came with maple syrup and not a macadamia sauce, which we had to buy separate. I was used to having the sauce come with the pancakes at a certain restaurant in Kailua, Oahu, so this was a bit unexpected. But the food was well prepared and tasty. It was really good! So good we came back the next day to have breakfast again. Only this time it was Adobo Fried Rice. We brought two plates for me and the wife which we soon regretted because my wife could not finish hers since the portions were really big. Should've have shared just one. Another place to add to our go to list to eat when we come back to visit Kona.

Due to wild goose chases in Holualoa and getting lost and many reverses following GPS our first meal of the day was after 11 am. Many tables to eat inside the restaurant and food comes out remarkably fast at reasonable prices. Thank goodness cuz that allowed us to finish up our intended errands in Kailua- Kona: KTA, Mrs. Barry's and fill up the rental car. Thanks Bruddah Fran. If they had wun tun mein I'd give them 5 stars. They had cool things like oxtail loco moco and kalbi plate for $12.
