This turned out to be our favorite place in Captain Cook. We had breakfast which ranges from only $6.50 to $12.00. I had the fish and eggs, which is just incredible. In fact the owner had just gone out and caught the spearfish served panko style (yes, Mexican with a couple of Japanese items). They also have very comfortable indoor seating. I haven't tried the lunch and dinner but assume they are also excellent. read more

There's not a lot of good Mexican food on the Big Island, but Manny's is the real deal. They have both traditional favorites as well as some menu items (excellent) that you may not have seen before. We were driving around and found Manny's on Yelp. We decided to stop and give it a try. We started with the chips and salsa, which they charge for, and they were worth the price. The salsa was excellent and chip refills were free. My wife had the three taco combination. She went with carnitas and steak for her tacos. The carnitas were excellent. It was flavorful and tender. The steak was not as good - it could have used some seasoning. The corn tortillas were fresh and tasted fantastic. Unlike other places, the tortillas here held up while eating the tacos. The green sauce was excellent and had a decent kick to it. I had the carnitas burrito supreme and it was excellent. The service was very good. In terms of ambiance it is casual and it sits on a busy street. So with the windows open the street noise can be loud, but the fresh air and breeze is worth the noise. read more

Mediocre to average tasting food. Wife had a chili relleno plate with dry rice and cool to the taste refried beans. Relleno was spicy but average. I had the 3 hard shell tacos which were average at best. TB has better tasting tacos to me. Chips and salsa were the best part of the meal. read more

Went based on reviews, while we were trekking the big island. We were the first customers of the day and it took a good 15 minutes before we were served. I ordered the special, which was red pozole. It was a decent dish, but wasn't seasoned very well and they used poor cuts of pork (trotters, etc). It did lead me to make my own at home (which was far and away more flavorful). Prices were consistent with Hawaii. My brother's three tacos a la carte were about $10. My pozole was $12.50. Overall, it was ok. read more

Heard about this place from a friend at work and OMG what a discovery!! We live in Keauhou area and Captain Cook area not far away so we tried it last weekend. Called in order and drove in to pick it up, it was ready super fast, got it home, still hot and sat down to eat and discovered we should have been eating at Manny's a long time ago! We ordered 2 El Huarache's (a recommendation from same friend) with beef, an large oblong fried corn "tortilla" topped with choice of meat, cheese, onion, cilantro and fresh salsa. Best thing I've ever eaten, was sorry when it was gone! Also had a Ceviche tortilla and it was amazing. This food is authentic and flavorful, everything was so fresh! We could have eaten there again the next day but decided to space it out for this weekend again! Tired of Hawaiian music and reggae? Proper Mexican music here, along with proper Mexican food. They even have Menudo! Reasonable prices, good service, Kona coffee. They close from 2 to 5 in the afternoons so take note if you're looking for a late lunch. Parking lot for easy parking. read more

This place has horrible service by no other than it's owner. Ordered thru the drive was told it's going to take 10-15mins and to park and when she waves at you - you need to come get your food. 20mins later my food is done than I'm told it's extra for salsa (this normally comes with the mea) and instead of being apologetic I'm scolded because I was told there were cars ahead of me that's why the food took too long. I get home and my order is totally wrong!!!! Wow .... I'm this economic times they should treat their customers better. Sad!!! My sisters and I are vegan so there isn't much to choose from on the menu, but we do LOVE the burritos!! We get them without the cheese/sour cream and add the guac. We usually call in the order and they have it ready always before we get there which is a major plus! The staff is always so nice and the drive thru window is so convenient. I've been to this place a couple of times. Every time I get the impression their food is pricey and not something I'd recommend. Service is always poor and the tables are mostly empty. I also come away still hungry which means they could put more food on the plate for what they charge. Really it's Mex food, mostly rice, beans, and cheese and in their case poor cuts of meats. I shouldn't be so picky but I moved here from Tucson and was excited a Mex restaurant moved into the neighborhood. I'm surprised they have lasted as long as they have, with the prices for such little food when you get your plate. read more

Well I must say I was VERY disappointed.... I really really wanted to like this place but the menu options are not good needs more and MORE Mexican foods some of the things on the menu definitely could have been replaced with better options. I got the special which was sopes and chicharrones I was EXTREMELY excited because I LOVE CHICHARRONES! I was so stoked that I ordered an extra side....I also ordered 3 tortillas, and a side of beans n rice since the special didn't come with any sides...when I got home and opened it the box I was sooo devastated!!! The chicharrons were not fried! And I don't mean pork rine kine fried I've had ALOT of chicharrones and they have always always always been fried, crunchy on the outside and the fat in the middle melts in your mouth there so anazing that's how my grandma made them and every other person I know and every single place I ever went they were fried to a delicious golden brown..but I still tried it thinking i might still like them but since chicharones are mostly fat so when they are not fried creating that delicious crusting it is not good it quite gross really and not tasty wish I would have known I spent a good amount of money here too, in fact I feel sick, the beans and Spanish rice were dry and not flavorful at all the tortillas were OK ...very disappointed in the menu and extremely disappointed in my food....I don't think I'll be going back or recommending it, my roommate was also extremely turned down by the menu and after seeing my food and tasting it as she also was confused by the chicharones not being fried she did not like it at all and thought the beans were bland and spanish rice dry and flavourless she will not be going either. read more
