I tried it and it was absolutely fantastic. The churros were served warm with chocolate syrup and the strawberries on top of the banana split strawberry and vanilla ice cream was a killer combination. We had spent all day having a play date at the zoo splash pad so off course we had to end our play date with some ice cream. My son wanted ice cream and my daughter was insistent we get shaved ice and when I was looking for local spots Mannys Shaved Ice had the best reviews in the area and they carried both ice cream and raspados ( aka shaved ice). I was going back and forth between Mannys and just an ice cream spot and I'm so glad we picked here. Mannys Shaved Ice will become a frequent spot for my family. We went in figured out what we wanted and were given a number for our table. Service was friendly, there was a lot of seating available inside but they also give you the option to bring your treats out to you at your car. They speak both English and Spanish here and have so many Hispanic snacks I was in heaven- from elotes to dorilocos, fruta picada, churros, aqua Fresca and of course they had the raspados and ice cream and much much more. My daughter and her besties actually ended up going with some colorful ice cream and even added sprinkles, my son went with the cafe caramel shaved ice and when I saw they had Fresa as con crema I had to get it. I got my food extremely quickly even though it was busy, finding parking takes a little patience sometimes but it's worth it, I promise. The elotes were phenomenal! The gansito and horchata frappes were also really great. I highly recommend trying their churros, they are filled with Bavarian cream and are the best I've ever had; they are served warm. Manny's is TOP-NOTCH if you ever want a refreshing, delicious snack. My friends have always told me about it, but I had never went before. Now I'm making stops at Manny's every week! Service is also extremely friendly. I got their mango-guava shaved ice and a large cup of their esquites. $3.50 for a HUGE shaved ice drink and $5 for a big boy cup of corn. So cheap and so delicious. The guava flavor was on point and I loved the mango bits in the drink. It's so refreshing and the ice melts down into a cool, yummy drink. The esquites is basically elote in a cup--sweet corn, mayonnaise, cotijia cheese, and spice! Although a bit watery, it is so flavorful, delicious, and has a kick. How did it take me so long to stop in to this place?!? I have zero excuses. I drove 35 minutes one direction just to get an elote and esquite. I ordered online (super quick, and super easy. Check their Facebook page for their online ordering link) and popped inside to pick it up. It is so much bigger inside than it looks on the outside! They have a pretty expansive menu of lots of Mexican snacks, way more than just shaved ice. The staff was nice and pleasent. My order was ready quicker than it was estimated to be done and I drove all the way home before digging into my food...and I was amazed. My food is still PIPING hot. It's a 35 minute drive! I thought I'd be having cold corn and I was super happy to have it all be still hot! And the food is AMAZING! I'm so sad I've wasted 3 years NOT going to this place! We visited Manny's on a whim, wanting to stray away from our usual Columbia desert/sweets spots and we definitely found a gem. It can be a bit overwhelming when you go, because there are so many flavors and options... but if you aren't sure the staff are helpful and they also indicate some of their most popular flavors on the menu board. I tried the mango colada... so mango and pineapple shaved ice. It's one of their cream mixes so it has cream on top, in addition to the mango and coconut pieces. Kelsay tried the strawberry and cream Gloria, which again is a cream flavor with strawberries and banana. You can also customize your shaved ice with extra cream and fruit (we didn't know any better... but that's DEF the way to go, add cream and extra fruit!!!!). We also weren't really sure if we were supposed to go at these with a spoon or straw, so we went straw first and drank all the flavor from bottom... another mistake. I wanted to love this place. I wanted to enjoy this place. I wanted to have a new favorite spot to take my nieces and nephews on one of those beautiful warm Spring afternoons. When I walked into the building I was impressed. The place seemed clean. The staff were family enough--well so I thought. I decided to invite my siblings and their kids to this spot since the pictures on Facebook looked impressive. So we go and I order a Cotton Candy Shaved Ice (played it safe) and got two more for my nieces. My sister ends up ordering a fruit bowl. Fresh strawberries, nuts, honey, and bananas were prepared and placed in a plastic container. Me being greedy, I opened my sister's fruit bowl to see how fresh the strawberries were and the fruit bowl smelled pretty bad. Now don't get me wrong--bananas don't smell that great, so I tried it anyways. After making a comment about the fruit, my sister looks in her fruit bowl and unknowingly there is a small white ball in the bowl. She moves it to make sure it isn't mold--and it worse!! It's a ball of baby spiders! Yes, a ball of spiders in the fruit bowl. The bowl is taken inside to show the employee that there are literally bugs in the fruit bowl and we are dismissed. The employee looks annoyed that we had the audacity to bring this issue to their attention. The employee takes the white ball of baby spiders out and tosses it to the floor then asks if we would like the bowl to be made over. Shocked, upset, and disgusted--we asked for our money back, but only the money for the fruit bowl was given. After finding these spiders in the food we ended up throwing everything else out. Definitely one of my favorite lil spots in Columbia! It's advertised as a shaved ice shop but it has other things too! They have food like nachos, elotes, corn in a cup, and chicharron. My favorite thing to get while I'm here is the corn in the cup. The simplicity of it is really genius tbh and it's a good price for the amount you get. You wouldn't think a cup of corn could fill you up like that but it rly does. Fair warning, it is spicy. I can't handle too much spice bc i'm a baby so i get mine without the chili paste and it's still really delicious. The shaved ice are more like blended drinks and are really flavorful and also a good price. I've seen Manny's at times where there's almost nobody there and then at times where it's packed. The food comes out fairly quick when it's not super busy, but I will say it's slower when it's busy but that's only because there's like 3 people working. The wait is definitely worth it! read more
