Mano Po is a Filipino vendor at Smorgasburg LA, that is on Sundays 10am-4pm. After making a lap around all the vendors, my boyfriend and I decided Mano Po was the most appealing to both of us. My boyfriend ordered a Chicken Pancit with a Coke, and I decided to get the Garlic Shrimps. We were given a beeper and we set off to look for a shaded table, as it was especially hot on the day we visited. When the beeper beeped, my boyfriend went to get our food. The chicken pancit was in a small bowl. The portion looked more snack portion than meal portion. There wasn't a lot of chicken. The noodles were a bit clumped together. It tasted okay but nothing too exciting to eat. I preferred my garlic shrimp with garlic rice. It was a tad oily and heavy. The portion itself wasn't all that big but I felt more heavy than full. It was nice to try but I'm not compelled to come back, when there are so many other options at Smorgasburg to explore in this setting. read more

I attended a trance festival called Dream State at Queen Mary in Long Beach. On day two of the EDM festival, I was ready for some dinner. Being the planner that I am, I looked up all of the food vendors on Yelp prior to making a decision. One of the vendors with solid reviews (both in terms of the overall rating and the number of reviews) was Mano Po. So the decision was made. Ambiance (N/A): Mano Po is a food truck and they were posted up at a large festival, so not your typical dining experience. Service (4.5/5): Rather than their typical food truck, they had a food stand set up. You placed your order at the table, and they gave you a buzzer. My food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Serving a ton of people at a festival isn't easy. The staff at Mano Po did it with a smile. Drinks (N/A): I didn't order any drinks. Food (5/5): When having food at a large festival, I try and temper my expectations. Typically, the food is overpriced and mediocre. This couldn't have been further from the truth here. It was by far the best food I had at the festival. I had the pork adobo which was served on a bay leaf with white rice and a tomato salad. If you've never had pork adobo before, it's time to make things happen! One of the most popular Filipino dishes, the marinated pork was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The diced tomato salad gave some nice balance to the meat and the rice. While not a big portion, it did the job. I was more than impressed with Mano Po. Tried Mano Po at a Manila Sound event hosted by Benny Boy Brewing, and it was so good! I appreciate Filipino food with a modern twist that doesn't lose the foundation of the food itself. Had the longganisa lumpia and sisig fries and they were amazing, sisig was real and not just meat which is sometimes what I get when I try sisig fries elsewhere! This is a popular vendor specializing in Filipino food at Smorgasburg in DTLA on Sundays. I generally love Filipino food and the flavors that you can generally get in Filipino food are great. I think that "Mano Po" can satisfy a craving; however, I rate this as "OK" compared to my favorite local Filipino brick and mortar spots. I had their pork liempo with rice and their longanisa lumpia. The longanisa lumpia has longanisa cut into strips, wrapped in an egg roll wrapper, and served with a side of vinegar. Sweet, garlicky longanisa is always delicious; however, I don't think that eating in lumpia is better than having it with rice. For this to be a five-star dish, I'd love to either have more freshness from herbs within the lumpia to pair with the longanisa or I'd rather have a standard pork lumpia shanghai with mae ploy sweet chili sauce. For the pork liempo (pork belly), the flavors were good and I'd recommend it. I just have a few places that I prefer near me for the same dish. If this is something that you don't get regularly, then you should definitely try it here. Also consider checking out their shop Lobsterdamus next door for their whole grilled lobsters. read more

If you're feeling Filipino food at Smorgasburg, Mano Pano is the stand to hit up. They offer a variety of different rice plates and some sides. I opted for the Manila bbq chicken plate, which came with the chicken and garlic rice. The chicken itself was super yummy and juicy and the garlic rice was the perfect complement to it. For $16 a plate, it's a bit pricey for the quantity and quality of food, however, it is to be expected for anything at Smorgasburg. There wasn't too long of a line when I came and the line moved relatively quickly. Service was friendly. Overall, I would recommend giving Mano Pano a try! read more

Mannnn, them garlic shrimps were Hittin' with a capital H! For about $15, I got a plate of 8-10 medium sized shrimp along with some garlic rice. I only wish they also included some of their pickled veg on the side as they do with the Manilla chicken plates. They have other dishes like the Manilla chicken, another favorite, as well as Chicken Inasal, Pork Belly, Longanisa Lumpia and more! It seems as though all of the meats are grilled on site, as you can easily see them grilling up loads of meat on several grills; the sights and smells are intoxicating. As I mentioned, I love the Manilla chicken, I only wish the chicken portion was larger. The crispy garlic shrimps have now been added to the list as one of the must haves from Smorgasburg. They catered our lunch last week and I would like to give them a shout out. Though, the food didn't give me too much of a Filipino vibe. Definitely more fusion tbh. There was a vegetarian, beef belly and grilled chicken. I opted for the grilled chicken. It was chicken thigh, garlic rice and tomato/onion salsa. The food was flavorful and chicken was tender and juicy. I thought it was really good. It could have used a little more rice though. But it is a definite win in my book. Today was my first time at Smorgasburg LA and I stumbled upon Mano Po. I immediately got attracted by the grilling aroma of Chicken Inasal and Chicken Barbecue. I didn't think twice to order their Chicken Inasal. It is served with garlic rice, a couple of condiments (soy sauce or vinegar w/ onion bits). The service was pretty fast because I noticed that the menu items are freshly grilled. I'm pretty sure they anticipate many orders for the day at Smorgasburg, in which they had enough supply of both the Inasal and Manila Barbecue. This mid-morning, we received our orders in less than 5 minutes! Pardon the default "orange filter" because the food pictures were taken under an orange tent in the dining area. I am impressed that their rice plates are served on top of a banana leaf, which makes the presentation uniquely Filipino. I liked the chicken because it is tender and I can truly taste the inasal marinade in lemongrass, garlic, coconut vinegar and calamansi. I also like that the chicken was perfectly sliced and portioned. For me, the garlic rice was okay. It tasted more like java rice with garlic flavor but on the saltier side. The rice wasn't that bad, but perhaps the flavors all new to me. I'm not used to salty rice but I respect their style and recipies. Overall, I would come back to try Mano Po at their main location and when I return again to Smorgasburg! There's a bonus jeepney cutout placed in front of their grilling area. I saw my friend Tom W. for the first time in two years, and he came bearing gifts--a huge spread from Smorgasburg, where he'd braved long lines on a hot Sunday to pick up some good eats. One of the vendors he hit was Mano Po, a family-run business offering homey Filipino food. He got us the longganisa lumpia and the chicken inasal and both were absolutely delicious. I almost never get excited about the deep-fried egg roll genre of Asian food, but the lumpia were exceptional. They were golden and crispy, filled with sweet Filipino sausage and served with a sweet dipping sauce. The chicken inasal was in the chicken and rice genre, which is a favorite of mine, and this was super satisfying. The chicken was flavored with ginger, lemongrass, kalamansi, and coconut vinegar, and grilled tender over mesquite. It came with garlic rice and atchara, or Filipino pickles, as well as a sauce that might've been more of the marinade. I don't get out to Smorgasburg much, but I do plan on obtaining food from Mano Po again one way or another. The lumpia and chicken inasal were so good, I think I could eat both every week without ever getting tired of them. read more

My friend and I split a chicken inasal plate and manila bbq chicken plate. Both were incredibly delicious and I recommend trying both if you can. The chicken inasal had a more tangy flavor with hints of vinegar, ginger, and calamansi. The manila bbq chicken was a more traditional flavor but also equally delicious. The meat was moist and perfectly cooked over a grill. The garlic rice was also amazing and had a strong garlic taste which I liked. For $15 a plate, it seemed expensive at first but that's the average cost of a meal at Smorgsaburg now. I'll definitely be back to try the longganisa fries! read more

I was so so excited to finally try Mano Po after almost a year of trying to fit driving out to Smorgasburg or to Filled Market to try their food. The chicken was actually really good and well marinated since you can taste it through the chicken, docked one star because while I love my inasal with dark edges half of it was just burnt (hard chicken burnt) and the rice wasn't hot as i imagined it to be. Will still come back to try it again though. The highlight would be the longganisa fries, SO SO GOOD!! And generous servings to boot. read more

This place's food was okay and the customer service was good. I stopped by here when I went to smorgasbord LA and I guess I was expecting more as far as flavor. When I first got to the event, there were not many people in this line the entire time but the food looked good to me. The chicken looked perfect and it had just come off the charcoal grill which is one of my favorite flavors. I got the Manila BBQ Chicken. It was not nasty but it did not give me what I was looking for. I was looking for more of a smoked chicken taste but it gave me more of an Asian chicken vibe. I love the Asian chicken flavor as well but it just wasn't giving me what I needed. The rice was good ( just regular rice) and the veggies were so regular. Nothing really too special. I probably will not be back simply because it was not a memorable experience but I would definitely encourage you all to try it for yourselves and let me know what you think. read more

Simply put, Mano Po was fantastic. As a filipino, I couldn't be happier to find some AMAZING chicken inasal in Los Angeles. As a matter of fact, I was shocked to discover that Mano Po's Chicken Inasal IS MORE flavorful and more tender than any version I have tried here in the states. Also! LONGGANISA LUMPIA!? Absolutely genius. Pair that with Mano Po's lovely staff and it was truly one of the most (soon not to be) underrated spots at Smorgasburg. 5 stars for both the excellent inexpensive plate and the friendly customer service. read more

Good music, friendly staff, and a hardworking crew that always seems to have a smile on their faces. They have a self serve toppings bar with plenty of options, and while some people may be hesitant about that at a taco stand, everything is always clean and well maintained. I've eaten here many times and have never had an issue. The sauces are absolutely fire. The guacamole sauce, spicy green salsa and red hot sauce all bring something different to the table. Nothing tastes old or like it's been sitting around. Everything tastes fresh and is made with care. This has become our go to spot. We've tried a lot of taco stands and food trucks throughout Los Angeles, and honestly, nothing else has come close.

Immediately upon arrival, I noticed the long line of people and said to myself, either this place is really good or really slow. It took me longer to decide what I wanted to try than what it took for the line to move and for it to be my turn to order. So yea, these folks are FAST and very courteous as well. They have real Al Pastor on the trompo (the spit) so of course I ordered pastor tacos and a pastor mulita. I also ordered a few SUADERO tacos which you don't find just anywhere. I am still raving about the amount of meat and flavor of the food here, it's insanely delicious. Once you get your food you make your way down to the end of the taco stand where you are met with an amazing array of fresh taco fixings and salsas. The pink creamy-habanero was the best and the green/red salsas followed right behind. I can't wait to go back to this place. It's mind blowing how a stand on the side of the road puts out better quality food than a brick/mortar taco shop..but these guys know exactly what they are doing and it was a pleasure to try their food. 20 out of 10 for this place.

Also, make sure you ask them for pineapples since they did not include it until we asked. They do have them sliced up in a container by the meats. Ambience is very casual and it's a stand while eating type of situation. Service was quick.

I'm still searching for a folded shredded beef taco that can match or beat Tito's Tacos, and while Al & Bea's makes a solid one, Tito's still holds the crown in that category for me. The red salsa was excellent and went great with everything I ordered. It added just the right amount of flavor and made an already very good meal even better. Al & Bea's is the kind of place that does simple, comforting Mexican food really well, and that bean and cheese burrito alone is absolutely worth coming back for.
