I didn't go too far into restaurant due to where sitting but nice vibe. A little more upscale than typical Latin/mexican/texmex type restaurants. He was slow to take our order and to check for needed refills, etc. (They were not busy) We noticed he was also tending bar, so should have stuck to that snd let one of the other servers "serve." I ordered the Huevo A Caballo. Skirt steak with fried eggs & salsa, refried beans and white rice. They only give you a butter knife to cut a steak. If the steak had been more tender it may have worked. The rice was not as tasty as previously. They put corn, peas, green beans & carrots in the rice. Just plain rice would suffice. They also brought tortillas, not sure why with this dish. The seating is comfortable snd they have music playing. The steak was flavored well and tasted good. My Manolete's burrito was very good. The queso on top with the shrimp was a nice touch and a decent price. The queso dip was average and came in a tiny bowl. Chips were also average. They have a guacamole and a salsa they make table side so there are no complimentary chips and salsa. My wife's soda was flat and they replaced it but it was still off. She had the carnitas platter and it was good but needed to be crispier and I can name a few local places that put it to shame. Overall it's a nice place downtown on the plaza but not as good as many local places. I'll go back just to try the salsa and guacamole. Service was good. Loud environment inside. In Winchester for a meeting and decided to stop by Manolete's Cocina Gourmet in the walking mall. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it very nice in here! The decor and overall vibe were 10/10! Guacamole to me is standard and how I judge any Spanish place. It was flavorful, a nice little kick and the texture was also great. I got a brunch burrito, which was a burrito stuffed with chorizo, potatoes, eggs, jalapeños and topped with queso fondido and pico. This was the perfect meal for today since it's so cold out, and it felt like I was right at home! (Plus chorizo is good in anything) I'll def go for the tacos next time, and the tomahawk looks enticing The portion sizes were great for the price, I spent about $20 total but I have plenty of leftovers. We had a choice of indoor and outdoor, so we chose indoor seating. We love this place. The decor is lovely and service is great, but the best part is delicious food. While on vacation in New Market we took a side trip to Winchester and lunch time rolled around. There are many choices in town and the decision might have been hard BUT when we walked past the alfresco diners the decision was obvious. This place looked amazing. The ambiance was very elegant with the tiled floors and the artwork showcased in recessed displays in the walls. The food was delicious. Service was terrible, waited over an hour and half for the food. I know this is not the waitress fault and I know it's New Year's Eve but I didn't expect it to be this long of a wait. Great environment but if experience with service is bad the environment goes out the window. Came in with my wife and three kids and you would think the kids food would have came out first. Within the 1.5 hours of wait the only thing we had was the chips and salsa and the salsa had no flavor. I am not going to comment on the main entree because we still haven't received it yet. Don't even feel like eating at this point. For a new place that just opened you would think they would want the first impression to be great because it means everything.
