The best part was the potatoes- they were well seasoned with the right texture of a crunchy exterior and soft interior. If a small child created their dream menu (or possibly a collaboration between my husband and some drunk college students) they would invent this menu right here. Let's talk lattes: I want a latte these. Case and point, the cinnamon streusel, and the chunky monkey. I'll admit I'm a latte snob, and these were heavenly. We also had buffalo fries and added chicken, spicy mild sauce but mucho flavor. The donut French toast did not disappoint, in fact they let us add peanut butter and jelly.. so yup. Coming down the homestretch, we had the breakfast nachos, which I cried a little during consumption. The server was super friendly, and the food was THE BOMB. The only "complaint" is that all of the food came out staggered, leaving some at the table with food envy. I was hoping for more at Manory's. It's not that I don't like diners. I LOVE diners. But there are only a few really cheap and simple no frills diner that do it for me in the area. Connecticut seems to have more than its fair share. Maybe someone can explain that to me, but I digress. Food was below fair. Biscuit with sausage gravy was very disappointing - even under all that gravy, I could tell the biscuit was dry and chewy (perhaps previously frozen, blech). Potatoes were sub-par. Cheese omelet was surprisingly flat, and alarmingly cheesy - seemed like a 1:1 egg to cheese ratio. The staff was friendly and accommodating, if not terribly attentive. But to be fair, our waiter did admit to being hung over from the night before. And when the kiddo spilled his milk, we were brought a replacement, free-of-charge. That was unexpected. And while by no means expensive, the prices were certainly higher than cheap diner fare. Maybe we ordered wrong. I'll likely go back and try something different, but until then, my go to breakfast in Troy on a Saturday morning is a Mrs. London's scone at the farmer's market, with some free-trade coffee. read more

Somewhat randomly stopped here to grab a bite to eat after a college tour. We were in a rush and got it to go to eat in the car, and they were very helpful and understanding! I got the Black and Blue Burger with fries, and it was very tasty. It's worth noting that I asked for it cooked medium with no tomato, and they absolutely honored the request. That's a simple little thing that some places screw up on that just makes it all the better! The fries were flavorful and crispy. I also got the cinnamon streusel latte, and it was lovely. Not too sweet. It reminded me of when I used to put cinnamon sugar in my coffee milk growing up. So the nostalgia was a bonus! This was a really solid place. Zero covid protocols. Not one of the large staff was masked. Customers were packed in. We were there for breakfast, the place was busy, the wait time was fair, and service was a bit slow. As far as the food, it wasn't great. My eggs Florentine had over-easy eggs, and not poached as advertised (maybe they stole them out from underneath the chicken?); the sauce--while tasty--was not hollandaise. It might have had cheese in it? Worst was the side order of bacon, which was ordered extra crispy but was served as a soggy mess in a pool of grease. As far as diners go, this one is righteous. I had a medical procedure where I had to fast for 36+ hours, so I was really hungry when we arrived. I had seen the Trojan Omelette before and decided that was the way to go. My driver was with me, and she was game with splitting the monstrosity. Well, let me tell you this: The pictures don't do the thing justice. As Billy would say, this thing was YYYUUUUUGGAH! :-) I was game for trying to eat the entire thing minus the slice for her. I tried and tried and tried, but I could not finish this thing. Rich country gravy, big chunks of sausage and about a serving and a half of home fries was just too much. In the end, it worked out though, as I had some leftover for the following days breakfast. Can't say whether or not the rest of the menu is satisfactory, but judging on this meal, I will be back. We were trying to go to a different restaurant for some Saturday morning nourishment after a long but fun day at a wedding the previous day. That place was closed so I looked on my handy dandy Yelp app. and remembered that I had this place bookmarked to try. I love places with history and I figured they would have the kind of solid stick to your ribs food that is so good following a day of celebrating. I was right. The decor is stuck in the paneling and plastic seventies but the service started out quick and friendly. I nursed my hangover with some average but hot coffee in my favorite thick style white diner mug. My husband did the same. They had a lot of intriguing sounding specials but today was a day for basics. I ordered the big breakfast because it features both pancakes and eggs and seemed to be the only option featuring both. I substituted two slices of ham for the bacon and sausage it normally comes with. My husband had Biscuits, Gravy and Eggs with home fries. The food came out quickly and we dug right in. My eggs were cooked perfectly over easy as ordered. The generous portion of pancakes were just what the doctor ordered. I would have liked real maple syrup but wasn't surprised at the fake stuff. I was too busy recovering to try my husbands food but he certainly enjoyed it. Nothing remarkable but friendly efficient service with a view of the passers by on the sidewalk. Came by after the farmers market. Place is old. Truly the oldest restaurant in Troy. Although it's a staple and the old timers and RPI students frequent for the cheap eats and the nostalgia. I orders the hash and eggs(over medium). The hash looked like out of the can and eggs were overlooked. Coffee was mass reproduced and like office coffee. I have to say the wait stuff is fun and enjoyable to speak with as well as very accommodating. It's an old diner and take it as such. My bill was under $20 for breakfast. In the wake of The Flying Chicken, my Troy restaurant wandering has become aimless and scattered. I poke my head into anything that looks different, and Manory's had my interest for two reasons: Trojan omelette, and open for dinner on Sunday. Breakfast for dinner is a winner in my book. So in I went and ordered the 9-egg monstrosity, smothered in sausage gravy. Service was a little slow but not obnoxious; just don't be in a rush. Recommendation #1: Order extra gravy. You will go through that like an F-350 slurps diesel while towing your Airstream. Recommendation #2: Sweet tea. Because if you're going to order anything smothered in sausage gravy, may as well consider it Southern. Closest you'll get at this latitude. (They do have biscuits.) Recommendation #3: Note to self - try French toast apple cider donuts next time. Almost sprung for it at dessert, but wanted to get my ice cream in waffle form, and that was not a mistake. Waffle was large, thick, waffly. Ice cream plentiful. But now that I've done the omelette, I can meal the donuts next time. And there will be a next time. I need to confirm the 5th star. Now, if you eat here, you will quickly see why this place has been able to stick around for such a long time. I have never in my life had an omelette I enjoyed more than at Manory's. I ordered a buffalo chicken omelette with a side of pancakes. The food and service are something that other restaurants would be wise to mimic. I loved everything about my time at this place and I hope that they continue to have success. Please, do yourself a favor, and try this place out when you are in the area. It's Manory's. It has its charm as the oldest restaurant in Troy (right?), but of course it's diner-style and the food quality is as expected - really not great. However, that doesn't stop me from coming here multiple times because it has everything you need. I love that they have an ice cream window with some wild sundae options. Many times, the ice cream does make me feel sick, though. My absolute favorite thing they have is also terrible for you. It's the buffalo blue cheese fries. Oh my god, they are delicious. They also made me sick. I will get them again. The service is usually terrible and many times, the staff will forget you as they peruse through their phones in the back, but where else can you go for junk food in meal form? Found the closest diner to the office! In Troy, just across the river from the Riverview offices on Broadway, it was a classic comfort food diner, with biscuits or eggs and sausage gravy, hash browns or country fried potatoes, and classic coffee expected out of the famous Bunn coffee machines. Ah, Troy's oldest restaurant! Manory's is indeed a throwback to a previous decade. Of course, that decade is comprised of two years of the 1940's, three of the 1950's, three of the 1960's, and a couple from the seventies. Come to the classic 19th century downtown of Troy and see vintage formica, wood paneling, drop ceiling panels (with classic stains!), and window blinds with genuine Max Headroom-era dust. 1913 is sooooo 2010. In any event, it is not without a certain charm at that, and the breakfasts have been quite decent. I eschewed the classic diner menu and avoided the vegetarian fare for once (my usual when I breakfast out) and got the "meat lovers" burrito, which was actually quite excellent. Service prompt and friendly if a bit underwattage, like the lighting. Still at $9 with a $2.85 Folger's cup of coffee not included in the base breakfast, we're talking uber-Diner prices. There are alternatives, and we're not even talking Denny's since it's downtown Troy, some even with vintage 1913 decor. So, sadly, not in a huge rush to come back for another 101 years or so. Went there for the first time today and I have fallen in love!! Between the history of the place and the very welcoming atmosphere I will be coming more often. I ordered this amazing eggs sandwich with buffalo chicken on it. While we waited for our food I struck up a conversation with a gentlemen sitting next to me who told me he had been coming for years and filled me in on the family dynamics of the place which made me fall in love with it more.
