Manos is a Toledo institution. There are certain items on Mano's menu that I cannot find anywhere else, and frankly I don't want to. The baked feta... a 1/3 brick of feta broiled with red pepper flakes and olive oil is hands down my favorite way to eat this flavorful cheese. The fact that they use GOOD feta goes a long way to making this a delicious way to start a meal. Spread on bread or pita, it's divine. For me, the go-to entree is the patio platter. I get mine without rice, which means the plate is piled high with green beans, fresh tomatoes, green peppers and Manos' consistently absurdly strong white onions. The sliced sausage is strongly flavored and goes great with the veggies. I've had it more times than practically any other food item in the city of Toledo. All of Manos' vegetarian dishes are sure to please. I love his Spanakopita. Mushier than you may find elsewhere, but it's still delicious. To that point, most dishes feel homemade. Presentation changes based on the day of the week, as does preparation. Same as you'd find at home. The service is always friendly, and if you're lucky enough to get one of the old school waitresses, you're in for some stories if you engage them right. Super friendly even on busy nights, they aim to please. I've been eating at Manos for basically my entire food conscious life and while yes, I've had better greek food elsewhere, there are certain items on Mano's menu that I think are perfect. Combine them with a classic atmosphere, and a lovely patio in the summertime and you have one of my favorite, constant "go to" restaurants in the city of toledo. Not looking for a sit-down meal, and thirsty for some drinks? Head upstairs to the "Attic" bar. They offer the full Manos menu, plus a full bar and friendly service. read more

what happened to this place? i used to love it when I lived in Toledo but it has gone downhill big time! Went in for dinner last week with my cousins who never had Greek food. first of all, they were out of 2 of the 3 wines i ordered even though they were both on the menu, I settled for the house red which was terrible. my cousins ordered their food and waitress came back after 10 minutes saying they were out of what she ordered. she order some chicken tenders like 2 of the other girls i was with and then came back stating the fryer broke and they couldn't fry the tenders/fries. again had to look a menu to decide for the third time. food took forever, she almost walked out. when food came it was mediocre at best. Cool environment but food was just okay. I would just stick to the basics here. I really enjoyed my Gyro, but my boyfriend got an oregano chicken breast that was not at all good. Our server was very friendly though and the service was good. Just get a gyro or something that they are known for, I wouldn't recommend trying anything new here. Manos is the BEST traditional "Greek restaurant" in Toledo. Of course, it's pretty much the ONLY traditional Greek restaurant in Toledo. Being of Greek descent myself, and thus being pretty well exposed to the cuisine, I tend to be pretty picky about my Greek food. That being said, the food at Manos is good, but not great. In my opinion, a very good indicator for the overall quality of a Greek restaurant is how well they make pastitsio and/or moussaka. At Manos, the pastitsio (and the moussaka, for that matter) is mediocre. The béchamel is a little under-flavored, the meat is a little under-spiced, and noodles are a little soggy. The sad thing is, it wouldn't take much more effort to make it so much better. The problem, IMO, is that the food lacks attention to detail. Little changes would make a big difference; "mediocre" dishes could become "awesome" dishes. Although the service can be slow at times, I've never experienced rudeness from the wait staff; the waitresses have always been great. Waitress Nada is wonderful. Bottom line: I'm sure I'll continue to eat here for good Greek food, but if I want VERY GOOD Greek food, I'll drive up to Greektown. BTW, Manos proximity to The Attic is a strong selling point. read more

Basically this is "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" in restaurant form. Every time we go, I swear my server is my mom. She's matter of fact, but in a, you're too skinny order everything kind of way. I haven't had a meal I didn't enjoy. Go to the restaurant. Enjoy the atmosphere. It's part of the experience. Order the Dip Combo as an appetizer and make sure one dip you choose is the hummus. They claim to have the best hummus in town, and they are 100% correct. Order Greek wine with your meal. After that I recommend their gyro if you want something more on the safe side. It's super good. But if you want to try something you know is being prepared by their Greek grandma, order the Mousaka. So dang good read more

This once was a go to place for decent Greek food. Boy has it gone south. 6 of us dined recently and we ordered different foods all being less than appetizing. Service was good but they obviously need a chef. The upstairs bar area must keep them going. Not many dining inside. A weekend night no less. Pricing also above average. read more

Update to below review: One of my coworkers actually got food poisoning after eating here. Most likely the undercooked chicken. If it was possible to give no stars I would. Avoid this place. ********** I've been to this location several time over lunch over the past couple of years. I've never been very impressed, mainly with the service. They just seem to never have enough people working and you have to wait and wait for someone to come take your order. I think every time we have gone here, we have been late back to work if that tells you anything, so plan ahead. The food on the other hand is very good. I've never ordered something that did not seem fresh and it always tasted good. However, one of the people at my table had a salad and some of the chicken was not cooked all the way through today. I also saw a review from Yelper Tom C. that his credit card was used through manual entry at this location, so I would recommend making sure you walk your receipt to the counter and watch them run it to be careful. I've never had an issue, but seems a little fishy. End of the story, if you are downtown, there are much better places to eat. read more

Husband and I went to manos for a nice relaxing dinner without our kids. The food was fantastic, the service was great! I didn't want to give it low stars because it is a must for their food. The cheese for a appetizer, yummy! And we had their gyro because we just couldn't pass it up! BUT when we were eating a young kid came out of the kitchen without a mask on wearing shorts and crocks. He definitely worked there. He did sit down right away but still. We were one of the only 2 tables in the restaurant. So I understand they weren't busy. But the hostess sat down with him. And the two of them would have a decently loud conversation. The boy was throwing around the "N" word around loud enough where he probably said it around 40 times during our dinner. It went on and off during our dinner from beginning to end. I know they are young kids and they weren't busy. But I was a server for years and if I were a restaurant owner or manager I would want to know. I ordered from this place indirectly a few months ago from the bar upstairs, the attic. I ordered falafel, and it was amazing. I decided to go into the restaurant itself today, and order directly. I wait 10 minutes at the counter before anyone even notices I'm there, as the cook is blaring music and nobody can hear anything. Then I wait 15 minutes to place my order as the employees have a long chat. Then, finally, my food arrives.. and it's not a falafel wrap. It's a piece of pita bread (not even pocketed) with lettuce, tomato, and SOMETHING on it. The waitress 'promised' it was falafel, even though it was white and smelled like fish. There is no green to this at all, as anyone who likes falafel knows. I got charged 11 bucks for a lemonade, fries, and a piece of pita bread with sprinkles of vegetables and 'falafel' (that was not falafel.) The waitress claimed that the cook 'just cut it differently,' which would explain why its cut into the shape of fish filets, but not why it's white and smells like fish. Never going back. Only good side was that the waitress was polite and apologetic, but had no idea what she was talking about. read more

I always get the Liz's vegetarian sampler. At around $8, it is an excellent value. It comes with spinach pie, fatoosh, hummus, olives, and feta. It is all very, very good. The hummus is interesting, substantial with an almost pesto-like quality. Delicious. The spinach pie is flaky and savory. The fatoosh has tasty pita croutons in it. Speaking of pita, Mano's pita is fluffy and served in triangles.There are a lot of excellent Mediterranean places in Toledo, but Mano's definitely earns its place in the pantheon. My experience at Manos was fantastic! The food was great and so was the service. Prices were very fair and portion sizes were good. I haven't eaten much Greek food but it's the best that I've ever had. I highly recommend the Gyros. The restaurant is also very pleasant and well decorated making it a very comfortable atmosphere. If you are in the downtown area and you are looking for a bite of Greek food to eat, this is a great place to stop by! Gyro meat is usually pretty tasty. The best part is if you are at the Attic (see my other review), not only can you order bar food, but you can also order Manos as well! There hummus is not the best I've ever eaten, but it is very garlicky which I love. The one time I ordered to go from here and it was not very good; we were missing multiple parts to the order and I had to go back to pick up the rest of the food. Pros: - yummy Greek food, especially the gyros! - you can order when you are upstairs at the Attic - usually quick service Cons: - the hummus could be a bit better, but I love how garlicky it is - big fail on the one to go order that I got Why I gave it 4 stars... There Greek food, especially the gyro is great. Very tasty with fresh veggies. They lost a star because I got a terrible to go order and had to drive back to pick up the rest of the order. What better way to spend Valentine's Day than with other awesome, single friends over Greek food! Let's break down Manos Greek Restaurant, shall we? The food: Bread and dip - Superb. By the time our orders came out, we were already full from dipping the bread in the herb and spice infused dipping oil. Saganaki - Amazingly delicious. Best one I've had thus far with the perfect cheese and lemon juice ratio. Hummus - Good, but certainly not Toledo's best, as claimed on the menu. Spinach pie - Okay. Despite being a bit on the soggy side, it was bursting with flavor. Fatoush - Again, okay. While the veggies were fresh and pitas crunchy, it could use a bit more tart. Creme caramel - Passable. A flan in disguise, this dessert was still light and refreshing... but left me with a bitter aftertaste. Gastronomic ingenuity aside, service was rude. Granted the place was hammered by 6pm, but there is a distinct line between tolerable service and discourteous service. Servers switched midway through our meal that we didn't know who to place our dessert orders at the end. Bread baskets were restocked and refills were met, but that's as far of a service as we got the entire evening. In fact, one server brushed me off curtly when I had asked for a group picture. Okaaaay then. The other, friendlier server was rather forgetful and brought out the wrong dessert for one of my friends. To top it off, everything was extremely slow to the point that we all got up to pay at the register as opposed to waiting for our one of two servers to make her way back to the table. Good home greek cooking. Good selection for vegetarians, and the Kasseri grilled cheese is unique and delicious. Also a favorite, the moussaka. Add to all of this that the kitchen is open to 11 and you can move the party upstairs to The Attic bar, and we have a clear winner for a chill evening out. This is one of the restaurants constantly on my "visit when you go back home" itinerary. My family has been coming here for ages. The neighborhood isn't great, the parking lot is treacherous, and the service is meh. But the food definitely makes up for it. And, there is now a service that will deliver it in Toledo (which is a great gift idea for people who live out of state but still have family in Toledo since you can do it all online)! The saganaki here is THE bomb. Best I've had anywhere. I also love the dips, all of them. Especially the tzatziki and the skordalia. OMFG. Best tzatziki ever, seriously. We're a big fan of the spinach pie, too. I always end up getting the beef shish-kabobs, which are absolutely huge. They are generally delicious, and are served with super-yummy green beans with tomatoes. However, two words of caution: 1) if you're ordering late, the beef tends to be super gristly; and 2) they stop firing up the broiler at a certain point in the night, so make sure you're there before that happens. Also, you cannot leave without having baklava. Or take it home. Just make sure to eat some. If you love Greek food, you'll love this place for sure. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Toledo! If you are looking for low-drama, and great flavor... go to Manos for the best greek food this city has to offer. I suggest starting off with the Saganaki. Your server will bring it out while it is on fire, and extinguish the flame before your eyes with lemon juice. OPA!!! For dinner I always get "Liz's Veggie Combo" which is a combination of Hummus, Pita, Spinach Pie, and Fatoush. I have never been disappointed by this meal. Manos is a longtime Adams Street staple and the only place to really get good Greek food in a sit down setting. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, with its brick arches, Greek seaside murals, and rustic wooden tables. The food is quite good, some things stand out more than others but it's mostly very consistent and tasty. A few of my favorites include the homemade pastitsio, the lamp stew, the kabobs, excellent spinach pie, and a really great gyro! The chicken-lemon-rice soup and the red lentil soup are both excellent. The Howard Rosenbaum salad is legendary (an enormous portion of Greek salad piled high with both grilled chicken and gyro meat!). A few sleeper hits live on Manos menu too, one of the best cheeseburgers in town, hands down, and also a surprisingly delightful plate of spaghetti and meatballs. Weird, but fitting. The fattoush is fantastic, and saginki (flaming cheese), baked feta (drool), grape leaves, and Manos unique hummus all make for great starters. Manos was a really good restaurant. We kind of went there last minute, but I'm glad we did. I was a little let down that two things I ordered on the menu they didn't have left because they ran out (and it wasn't too busy), but my regular gyro was still pretty good. I wish I had read the reviews here first because I definitely would've ordered some of that flaming cheese dip, it sounds amazing! Also another plus is that the attic is right upstairs, so a good meal before starting your night out on the town! read more

Hello fellow foodies, I had dinner here on September 30, 2016 and unfortunately the food was substandard at best. I ordered a Greek salad and spanakopita. Let's start with the salad and what it contained: iceberg lettuce, one Greek olive, onions and a few chunks of cucumber and a couple chunks of tomato. Lastly, Greeks are know for their feta cheese not in this case. The cheese or whatever it was resemble grated cheese of one kind or another. I remember being served their salad with a chunk of feta back in the day. The dressing was minimal and flavorless. Now for the spinach pie, it featured bland flavors when it should be showcasing robust flavors. Also, I do believe it was microwaved. Ate here the other day for lunch...I ordered a small Greek salad along with the Patio Platter. The food was real good...first time I have ever eaten Greek sausage and it was good. Funny thing was...there were no beets on the salad...I found that a bit odd...I love beets. The waitress was a bit slow lol...but she was nice. Will go here again for sure. read more

One of the criteria I have set for myself for a Greek Restaurant is one that was set for me in Ann Arbor at The Parthenon Restaurant (no longer open). The next best is The New Parthenon in Trapper's Alley (Greektown, Detroit). Both of those establishments offer Oktopodi Toursi (marinated Octopus) -- this restaurant does not, and that's unfortunate because it is the only one in Toledo offering supposed "authentic" cuisine. The pricing is higher than a cafe, the service is VERY slow. As a Culinary Arts & Restaurant Management student (1 year to go!!), this establishment gets 2 stars because they are the lone ranger in Toledo -- in comparison to the assortment you can find just over the Michigan line, this restaurant would get a 1 star. The hummus is not the best compared to everything else you can find in Toledo and/or Michigan -- even Whole Foods hummus in Ann Arbor is more flavorful! (You can find better hummus at the Anderson's on Talmadge Rd). There are little things that the owner can do to go from mediocre to fantastic, but he doesn't seem to want to go that extra mile for his guests -- I guess his being the ONLY authentic Greek restaurant in town is pleasing enough for him. read more

Haven't been here in over 20 years. Back in the day, I had remembered the food was good. Ordered lamb chop and the beef shiskabob. The meals come with a choice of soup or salad - we had salad and lentil soup between the two of us along with rice and green beans. The meals are large portions. Can't say the house salad would make the top list, kinda like a a Greek salad, but not - this was OK as well as the lentil soup. The chops were done nicely as well as the shiskabob. Green beans were just as wonderful as I remembered them to be (I believe they must be slow cooked for hours in tomatoes, onions and spices) YUM. The staff working there were very friendly. While we were there, it seemed that a few tables of regular customers came in. The place has to serve pretty good food to stay in business for over 30 years. read more

The saganaki was awesome, the guy doing the presentation was pretty funny to watch. We shared a baked feta, the saganaki, and olive oil with bread, all fantastic! For my actual dinner had the spinach pie which was also great. Negatives, my girlfriend had the beef tips, she liked it, but I thought it was bland. The service was pretty bad, they were fairly slow but our waitress barely checked on us, and when I mentioned how awesome the food was she brushed it off and didn't care what I had to say. Heads up their card reader is ancient and I was almost charged 73 dollars for a 19.80 bill, the receipt also jammed and all I got back was a blurred stub. Food 5 stars, service 2 stars. read more
