Nice location, plenty of parking, and easy to access. Friendly atmosphere, with a casual to more formal vibe if required. We were seated quickly, our waitress (Annie?) I hope I remembered her name right was super helpful & attentive. The menu was easy to read with unique & known favorites. Our food was served quickly, hot and delicious. The Ladies ordered a bottle of wine that they enjoyed. My lamb chops were perfection, definitely will be back for that. Probably later in the evening after the dinner crowd dissipates, or early before it arrives. The food was excellent. Small quaint place very clean, about half is a bar, half regular seating. The food was quality! Our waitress was very good and even made suggestions and kept drinks full. The ambience is great, upscale but not snobby. The service is impeccable, everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks are unique and delicious. The food is amazing. The bartender was absolutely wonderful. I asked if we could pay more if we could have asparagus she checked and came back and said no, because it was for the nightly special. We ordered a double burger which it tasted like somebody dump salt on it. I took two bites I couldn't eat anymore. The person that I was with finished it. I'm sorry but I will not be back. We found this place online last minute and just went. We were underdressed, it's a more upscale restaurant. Very small dinning area. Our table wobbled but our server got something to put under one of the legs. Our server was friendly and attentive! We had the roasted red pepper hummus to start. It was okay, not a favorite hummus and I think there was too much red pepper and was light on bread. It only comes with four pieces of bread which I think should have six or four with veggies. I had the New York strip which had a good flavor and was cooked correctly. The broccolini was a little on the hard side that was my least favorite item from the evening. First time trying this newer restaurant after being recommended by friends. I was excited to see the space used as it's a great location. Our server was lovely and walked us through the menu. We ordered drinks and 4 appetizers and with the reputation of the owners I expected more... The Kafta Meatballs were the standout; they were fantastic. Everything else was just ok. The salad we had was super bland and the dips (feta and hummus) were fine but they were served with sliced rustic bread for some reason instead of pita or a better bread option. The crust on the bread was really hard and took away from any flavor the dips had as it tore our mouths apart. There was a very loud group in the bar area that really ruined the ambiance of the beautiful space. Sadly the whole experience was disappointing - really wanted to love this place! read more

Perfect restaurant for this space. I'm a big fan of their other restaurant poco piatti, so adding in an upscale take on Lebanese food, in the space feels perfect. It's small and quaint, the service is fantastic, with everyone working as a team. The cocktail menu was intriguing and unique-which is appreciated. The beet feta dip was lovely with fresh pomegranate seeds for a fun twist, and the Brussels also had a fun twist of flavors and was delicious. I'm not usually a chicken breast in a restaurant type of girl, but the fall feature with chickpea puree did not disappoint. Additionally, the vegan mushroom moussaka was also a fun surprise. Stopped by with coworkers after happy hour nearby. We weren't starving, so we just ordered a few plates to share. The truffle fries disappeared in minutes, and the flatbread had this smoky char that tasted straight from a wood oven. Service was quick, even though the place was buzzing. Here we go...but first I must confess something. I went to the plaza just off Central and Talmadge looking for another restaurant - but they were gone. In its place was this restaurant called Stone Cut Bistro. I had never heard of it (to be fair, they've only been open a little over a month). Recognizing that my hunger was growing, I decided to - at least - check out the menu. Ok - the menu is 1 page, but there was enough variety to entice me to stay. When I walked in, it was as my Hawaiian friends would say, "same but different."That means it is similar to something previously experienced, but something has changed. The structure and layout were much the same, with the bar in the same place, the dim lighting still there, and a warning to "watch your step" at the end of the bar area. However, that is where the similarities end. The vibe here is different - the predecessors were very formal, almost uncomfortably so. But under the guidance of the Hajjar Brothers, it feels more like friends and family. Don't get me wrong, the staff was professional, efficient, and accommodating, but they were also welcoming, with smiles and offers of assistance throughout my visit. I arrived a bit after 5 PM, and it started to get busy around 6 PM on a Friday night. Drinks: This was a no-alcohol night since I was driving, so I won't bore you with which pop I ordered. I will say, however, that there is a fully stocked bar and the other patrons seemed very happy with it. Now on to the food...I started with the Papas Bravas (spicy potatoes) and they did not disappoint. There was not much listed as far as the ingredients, but suffice to say, they were not overly spicy, just a hint of what I'm guessing to be a bit of chili oil (don't hold me to that!). Delish!! The potatoes were crispy on the outside while light and fluffy on the inside. I could have made a meal of those alone, but knowing a review would ensue, I opted to order a variety of things. For the entrée, I ordered the Thai Chicken Kabobs. It came with a side of watercress salad and a very light, refreshing dressing. It also came with seasoned vinegar fries, but when asking about other options, they happily offered me an alternative. Deep, deep inside I was secretly looking for something that would bring up the words, "Hmmm, that's interesting". I honestly wasn't sure how Lebanese brothers would do with making Thai food, but it was SO GOOD!! I'm sorry I ever doubted, and a special apology goes out to Nasri, who later told me this was his recipe! Score another point for Team Hajjar! Lastly, I ordered the Lemon cake for dessert. Note to self: next time I think about taking dessert home for later, don't - for aesthetic reasons only. To have dessert in the restaurant, they make it so pretty! But the to-go box was a real disappointment. Yes, I completely understand why - it's a tall dessert. I've been at Stone Cut Bistro twice. Disappointing both times. First time I had a special pasta which I didn't like and the second time I ordered the ribeye rare and got medium and kitchen was kind of slow so I didn't complain but I've talked to several friends who had similar experiences. The charge for extra bread is uncalled for, as the Hummas ordered could not be eaten with the small order of bread included. Have been here twice since opening and both experiences were great! It looks like they're dialing in the menu as the olive bread was a little different (for the better) than our first visit. I'd love to see a steak kabob added to the choices but overall love this spot! Drinks are wonderful and I highly recommend the beet whipped feta dip. read more

Stone Cut Bistro is a modern take on Mediterranean food. I believe it occupies the space that used to be Plat8 in the Ottawa Hills Shopping Center. They did take reservations. The dining area was pretty small, but it had a nice ambiance. The beet whipped feta was unique and tasty, but there was nowhere near enough bread to dip, and they charged $4 for extra bread. The hummous was good, but it was nothing special, and they did not give enough bread for that either. The chicken drumsticks have a lemon pepper dry rub, which was really good. It reminded me of the lemon pepper wings from Wing Stop. There was nothing "Thai" about the Thai chicken kabobs. It was pretty bland, and the sauce tasted like a mild vinaigrette salad dressing. It came with a tiny side of some greens and carrots. I would've expected something more to go with it like rice, especially since it was a Thai dish. I guess that's what I get for ordering a "Thai" dish at a Mediterranean restaurant. The gyro burger is their most popular item, and that was good, but it wasn't really a smash burger, just a standard grilled burger. The short rib was really tender and also good but not exceptional. The seasonal pumpkin cheesecake was good. The service was fine. All in all the food was pretty good, but prices seemed high for what we got. Nothing really wowed me, and I doubt we'll return. If I want Mediterranean food, I'll stick with the more traditional places. read more
