UPDATE: I was able to get in conveniently, but still do not feel entirely comfortable giving more than 3 Stars until I see the final result with my crowns. -- I'm leaving 1 Star for the Dental experience that I had last week. I've also attached photos of 2 areas of my mouth that were worked on. When I entered this facility in early November, I was desperate to find a Dental experience that I have yet to be able to find in North Texas to date. They were welcoming, the environment appeared sanitary and they seemed sympathetic to recent experiences in other Dental offices I had been in the last year. My largest concerns were not urgent matters, however, they were concerns in my mouth that I had due to ongoing sensitivity, minor cosmetic appearance, etc. They did X-rays, took about 2 weeks to review and as it turned out the few areas I expressed concern about in my mouth reflected that 4 crowns, 1 root canal and a few fillings needed to take place. When I arrived at the facility last week, I was due to get a local sedative to help ease the entire experience. One of my first questions was to inquire with the Dentist that would be performing the work and bring about attention to a particular tooth that I was unsure what was being done to it. The Dentist, ahead of my treatment came off as extremely rude and nearly put-off that I was asking any questions. That didn't seem appropriate considering the vulnerable state I was about to enter into. The evening following my treatment, I immediately felt ALL ridged edges to the 4 temporary crowns in my mouth. 3 of the crowns were side by side, so attached as 1 piece, however I am baffled at what is going in my mouth. I feel although temporary, these look as though they have been in my mouth for a decade. On the opposite side of my mouth, my gum line is trashed, a crown (C) that was placed is also ridged and does not feel naturally shaped. Right next to that crown, a filling (F) was placed where there is obvious appearance of lines and residue from service that will very obviously have to be buffed out by a professional. I cannot say that I am eager to get my planned work done to the top of my mouth at this location, but I do highly anticipate some corrections to take place before I take my records elsewhere. NOTHING came at a low cost with any of this and I am more than dissatisfied with my entire experience. Staff is all super friendly and the office is clean. That being said the prices are EXTREMELY high compared to other dentist. I also had a horrible experience with a cavity (that didn't cause me any pain before I went in) which went from a filling to two root canals and I still have pain in that tooth now. read more

I totally agree that this place is the best! I'm 25 but only have had 1 wisdom teeth grow in (as it popped through the gums). It was fine until a few days ago when I woke up in the middle of the night in pain. The entire right side of my face was hurting so bad. I thought the pain would get better but it got worse. I was at work on a Friday when I couldn't take the pain much longer. I couldn't eat because my jaw hurt even more when I opened it. I could barely brush my teeth without crying. I decided to google dental places in Mansfield and came across this highly rated one. I decided to go out on a whim and call the office since I was so desperate. I had gotten a message saying their office was closed that day due to everyone being in training but the message left the cell phone numbers for both of the dentists. I called and left a VM, skeptical that I would get a call back. The dentist gave my number to one of his receptionists and she called me back saying they would take me in since I was in such pain. I was so shocked they would take me in on a day when they were closed. The minute I walked in the secretary greeted me and brought me straight into a room to get my information down. Normally they hand you a clipboard with a bunch of papers to fill out but she asked me the questions and filled it out for me. After that they took me in the back to get x-rays done. My jaw could barely open for the normal way so they took me to a huge scanner that rotates around your head when you stand up. This one didn't require me to have my mouth open. After the x-rays came back the Dr. Bauer (Sr) sat down and told me that my wisdom teeth was growing in wrong and it was causing my gums/cheek to be inflamed and that's why I had so much pain. He said he wanted to remove it that day and I totally agreed. The secretary came in and explained to me the payment options available. They then moved me to an actual room and sat me down. They numbed me pretty good and Dr. Bauer got the wisdom tooth out, no problem. I can honestly say from the minute I sat down on the chair to when I got up to leave was in the span of 5-10 minutes. It was so quick, easy, and painless! They then explained to me how to take care of the site. Dr. Bauer told the assistant to make sure I had his cell phone number in case something happened over the weekend. He also told me not to hesitate to call him. I have never been to a dentist office that did not make me wait forever. The old one I went to took so long that I would fall asleep in the chair. The staff here are so genuinely nice. You do not get a sense of them being fake just for business. There's pictures of their family all over the place (Dr. Bauer and his son are the dentists there). I can say he exceeded my expectations when he took me in during a day the office was closed and gave me his personal cell phone number for the weekend in case something happened. It is a lot coming from me because my standards are set very high and I would not bother writing such a long review unless I felt strongly about this place. When you first walk in you are greeted by friendly staff. The lobby is cozy and they have area for complimentary drinks. Wait is normally less than 15 minutes. The staff is friendly, helpful and kind. I lost a crown Friday at 5 pm and called after hours number and they provided me with information I needed and if couldn't get crown back in they would meet me after hours. Today went in for cleaning and Jemma was amazing and did a great job. I hate going to dds but they make it as pleasant as possible. read more

Mansfield Family Dentistry is a very clean friendly and modern office. Before visiting Cody I had pain chewing food and my bite was messed up from grinding my teeth. He put in 6 porcelain caps on my back teeth in without any issues. My teeth now look beautiful, my bite is fixed, and I have no pain from chewing. Getting these caps have already improved my quality of life and I'm thankful for Cody's suggestion to get them! read more

All the positive reviews for Mansfield Family Dentistry is all true! I only came here because of these reviews and thanks to them I found the best dentistry in the area. I came in with a major infection due to my wisdom teeth growing in. The office staff were so sweet when I called to ask if they accepted walk-in , which they don't but was able to squeeze me in that day. The whole experience from the office staff, dental hygienist, and the doctor were so freakishly amazing! If you research wisdom teeth removal images you will see some people with swollen faces, brusies, and bleeding on the outside of their checks. Those were my fears going in to surgery to remove all four of my wisdom teeth. I'm happy to say during my visit at Mansfield Family Dentistry none of these fears occur. Everyone was shocked how my face was not swollen and I was receiving more compliments then usual the next day at work about how great I looked. read more

I moved to Mansfield recently and I selected this practice because of the great Yelp reviews. A very busy and successful practice with a very personal touch! Instead of "here-fill out these 5 pages front & back" , Kim, a very professional staff member took me back to a private area and went through the paperwork with me. I was then called back to Maria, a very friendly and highly competent dental assistant. She began what was the most thorough dental exam I have ever had. She took needed x-rays, photographed each surface of every tooth and prepared me for my cleaning. Teri Bauer, Dr. John's wife was my hygienist and used my preferred cleaning method-hand scaling, though they can use other techniques as well. It was a really good visit and everyone welcomed me warmly to the practice and took an interest in me as a person. When Dr John Bauer came into the exam he was unhurried, interested in me as a person and invited my questions and concerns. I am having a small issue with some old dental work but he said he preferred to monitor it on every visit rather than rush into a costly intervention. His conservative approach and extremely friendly & personal demeanor is another reason the practice is thriving. If you are looking for a great place for your preventative dentistry, this is the place for you. My wife is going in next week. You should, too! read more

The son put a half crown (it was suppose to be a crown that covered my entire tooth but it only went up half of my tooth) on one of my back molars. Then when I asked for a correction, the replacement crown hurt constantly. So I asked to change to the father and he told me I needed a route canal to elimate the pain of the tooth the son had put the crown on. He broke my tooth during the route canal and it had to be pulled. He then put a implant where the molar has been that he broke during the route canal. After issues with the implant I finally went to an oral surgeon that removed because it was in my sinus cavity. Worse dentists I have ever experienced in my life! read more

Our family has been so touched by this family owned business. We reached out to a Mansfield talk page to ask for recommendations of a dentist in the area who could see my daughter quickly and compassionately because she had recently been diagnosed with brain cancer. She needed to have her teeth checked before she started chemo and radiation to try to cut down on the damage the treatments might cause. Hands down, the sweetest, most compassionate, family owned business I've ever been to! Dr. Bauer and his staff are just amazing! As soon as you walk in the door, you see portraits of their family hanging on every wall, and Stephanie greets you with the sweetest smile! You never have to wait long, even though they are always busy and very popular. They have all of the newest technology, which make for a very comfortable visit; you can watch tv while they work on you, massage chairs, photo transformations, ect. They have a private conference room where they take the time to speak with you one on one about every detail. My referral to them was from my mother in law, who they treated like a queen through an entire mouth transformation. She had almost every one of her teeth and jaw bone cosmetically altered due to genetic features, and were so compassionate and attentive with her. The first experience I had with them was with a severely infected tooth that needed to be pulled, on a day that they had the office closed. I called the office, and told them I needed medication immediately, and they told me to come in and they would take care of me. As soon as I arrived, Dr. John Bauer and his wife Terry were there, checked the tooth and wrote me prescriptions for antibiotics and pain meds, and even gave me their cell phone numbers. They then called to check on me three hours later, and the pain was worse so they told me to come back in and they would take it out. Terry held my hand and was so sweet to me as they pulled the worst tooth I had ever had in my long life of dental history, and tears were unstoppably running down my face. They then called me all weekend long, at least twice a day to check on me, were there to call me in prescriptions as needed with that horrible infection, and I felt that they really really cared about me! They had me come in every morning that week to put in dry socket meds and check on me every step of the way, and did not charge me $100 for every visit! They have been a huge blessing to me, and do wonderful work, I will be having all of my teeth crowned by them to prevent further infections (my poor mouth has been through 3 teeth pulled, 5 root canals, and countless fillings by age 25) and I will not go anywhere else. They have been a God send in my life!!! read more

Office is newish and atmosphere is classy. Dr Bauer, was excellent. Staff is extremely friendly. They Called and verified appts. times. They have electronic x-rays (no painful film holder to bite down on) and very modern technology (3d scans, etc). They are Extremely thorough, and thus time consuming 1-2 hours, but filling was painless and quick, and they explained cost upfront. Not a dime more asked. They do recommend non-essential services, a bit annoying. Will keep as my family dentist. read more

Staff and doctors are very nice and easy to interact with. However, at my first appointment, I was there for an hour and a half and they only did x rays and an oral exam - had to go back for a cleaning because I did not have more time to spend there that day. At my second appointment, I was told I needed at least one wisdom tooth removed, which was no surprise, but they did not sit me down and tell me exactly how much everything would cost. They just gave me the total on a post it note. I was extremely unimpressed with the lack of professionalism. Plus, I believe they do up-charge their services, and I was not told up front that they were out of network for me - didn't realize until I got a bill. I got a second opinion on my wisdom teeth, and the new dentist gave me a comprehensive explanation of services and cost (and also found a few issues Mansfield had missed), for a much lower price (most likely partially to do with being in network). The Bower family and their staff had been taking care of my husband's challenging oral health for 20 years and in my case about 12 years they had been nothing but great !
