My partner and I found this business by word of mouth when we were looking for replacement tires. There is nothing fancy about the location off Main on Cherry (they will move to a new location this year), in fact Mantz is very easy to miss, sort of down hill and hidden to the right. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There isn't a check in, you just have to get the attention of the working guys and let them know what you need.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's better to go before noon, because they get very busy after that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]But they are happy to find out what you need and get you right into the line, especially if you have a leak or a puncture.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They'll let you know if they can repair ($20 2026) or put a used tire on your rim (about $40 2026 - I have a small car) and if they do not have your tires in stock they will order them for you and let you know the price points upfront. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They obviously don't have time for long conversations, and they really get to what you need or your options right away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Mantz is opened M-F and Saturday. Check the times, go early if you can. Bring something to read or a game on your phone. There are chairs in the unused bay to wait. They're quick, depending on what your car needs, but prepare to wait in the queue after 2pm. I'm going there from now on to get my tires rotated too. They are a literal hidden gem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After waiting an hour because I arrived at 12 and their lunch hour is 12-1, they ignored me when they opened back up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner, I assume, a white guy with medium build and short hair, asked who was first in line. I said "I don't know, but I probably only need to drop off my trailer," but he didn't hear, because as I was talking he kept walking away from me and was already talking to other customers[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] who were in their vehicles. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After talking to every customer except me, he started working on vehicles and ignored me, as I was still standing there waiting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I asked another employee who I should speak to, the first guy interrupted him, started yelling, and said, "I asked you who was first!" He then escalated the encounter, yelling louder every time I responded to him until we were yelling at each other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He was extremely aggressive and high strung. I am local, I've been to this place several times before, and I've sent my family to this place many times. We won't be going there again after today. read more

I'm from out of state and had a tire to start leaking from a punture. It was not repairable. I dropped in with my story and leaking tire. I could have been taken advantage of, but not so. I was told he only had two tires in the shop that fit my car. They were for another customer, however, he wasn't coming until tomorrow to get these tires. He said he could more for the other customer and told me the price that was more than far. I promptly pulled into the shop and he put them on while we waited. They've always treated me right when I've stopped in to have my tires checked or repaired.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Today, I stopped in after I was told by another shop in town that my car wouldn't pass inspection unless I bought 4 new tires. Well, they checked all of my tires and told me my tires were fine, and I didn't need new ones. I'm so relieved, because I can't really afford this added expense right now! I came in with a question about replacing all 4 tires on my truck, and instead is making a sale that was "handed" to him, he advised that my tires current tires didn't need any replacing and I was fine for the winter here. I had an emergency situation yesterday that Mantz took my car right in. The young man addressed the issue and got me back on the road to Indiana. The only issue I had on the rest of my drive was the tire pressure light eventually came on again because the tires had been overinflated to 40 pounds not the recommended 34. read more

Perhaps the worst customer service in WNC. Some of the staff apparently thinks they are doing you a huge favor by servicing your car, especially Mr. Ponytail. He's about the worst and there is no excuse for his attitude. Go to High Country and you will be treated with courtesy while they do an excellent job of servicing your vehicle. read more

Overcharged for tires - stopped in earlier in the week and was told they had to order tires as they didn't have the size I needed in stock - not an issue. Was quoted 100.00 at that time (for each tire). Upon returning and getting the tires put on, I was asked if I was quoted earlier when they ordered them. I said yes and told him that he had said 100 per tire. He chuckled and said he wouldn't argue with me. I am not tire savvy but the tires they put on my vehicle are $70.00 tires. I should have asked more directly about the type of tire upon order and done my own research. If you do go to this shop, be weary and have some knowledge because they'll take advantage of you. From my experience, customer service was not the best and the man in charge, or appeared to be in charge, was speaking poorly of his workers when he himself didn't not have his stuff together. read more

Mantz helped us out tremendously while we were in a bind! Needed a hard to find tire after getting a flat while in from out of town. I called for my daughter. My daughters tire had a nail in it. They said to bring it over . I described the car and they were looking for her. Excellent customer service! I called them multiple times with many different questions because I am clueless about car stuff and they were very helpful and friendly despite my neediness. Also when I got there there was hardly a wait and they got the job done very quickly. They changed my two front tires and I didn't even have to get out the car...they allowed me to stay in my car. My mother went to get her tires changed here, when they put her lug nuts back in they burred them up, so when she needed to have her brakes changed by a different mechanic he couldn't get them off. So she bought new lug nuts and took them back down there for them to get back off and change. After she confronted him, he said they didn't do that. But changed her lug nuts and charged her for it! Then the idiot told her not to come back again, stupid guy should know that there was no way she or any of her family would be back! The owner Matt is who she dealt with. These gentlemen even clean your rims each time to make sure the replacement tire seals perfectly to your rim. Other companies in town didn't pay attention to that detail and my tires leaked. That's what led me to these guys. They always have my tires. They're high-quality winter used tires for a great price. Nobody else in town beats their price and level/speed of service. I've bought 13 tires from these guys overall and each time is consistent, good, friendly, transparent service. read more

I called and got a quote for $75 a tire this past Saturday, Oct. 31st. My daughter went there on Wednesday Nov. 4th and they would not sell her at that price and raised the price to $90. read more

Very arrogant owner, just kills me that someone in this town can be so corrupt waited for an hour and a half after he told me there was a 10 minute wait I understand something's take longer but instead of telling me the truth about wait time Mathew lied to my face and continued to avoid me untill I was finally serviced the young Spanish kid tried to take my wheels off with out jacking my car up!! and then mounted two of directional tire backwords.. while Mathew watch him do all of this and did not correct the kids so that tells me all I need to know about this place and it's owner on another note while I was waiting I watched the owner price gouge telling one person a plug was 10$ and another person with a nice car that a plug was 50$ word to the wise don't take your eyes off of them while they work on your car otherwise you might be paying for more work than u intended too hope all find this helpful! thank you Matthew mantz for opening my eyes to your sideshow tire shop read more
