Their black bean noodles (Cha chiang Mein), seafood noodles soup (Jampong), and deep fried sweet & sour pork are pretty tasty but yes, their customer service is pretty bad. The owners (who also co-own the adjacent Shiho Japanese place in the food court) tend to be very chintzy on the rice (of all things) and won't give you more if you ask. My mom suggested we eat Chinese Food at The Source last night when we went to visit her. We got to the food court around 7 PM on a Sunday night. There was no line at this establishment. We ordered (3) plain Jjamppong, (1) spicy Jjamppong, (1) Large Sweet and Sour Pork and (6) drinks. My mom asked if we could have an extra bowl for my younger two kids to share their noodle dish. We received our food quickly. When I asked for the extra bowl, the lady gave me the tiniest bowl (the dish was the size of my cupped hand). I asked her for a little bigger bowl to which she replied that she didn't have any bigger bowls to give. She reluctantly gave us a togo bowl after my repeated requests for a bigger bowl. If she had asked me to pay for a bowl, I would have but it seemed so petty to go back and forth with a customer regarding obtaining an additional bowl after spending over $90 at the restaurant. The Jjamppong dish looked good and the meal was big. The noodles were chewy and the broth was decent, but it lacked a deep seafood flavor. The sweet and sour pork dish was just okay-the sauce was bland and watery. I prefer my sweet and sour sauce to be almost like a glaze. read more

My wife and I have tried this restaurant inside the Source Mall several times. First time was all right, but the second and third visit there was rather disappointing. The food is all right, but the ladies at the counter were very stiff and uncourteous. We ordered 6 dishes for our family and they would not so much as to give one small bowl of rice without additional charge. When you order dishes like Kanbungi or tangsuyuk, a bowl of rice should come with it without additional charge. We were given one bowl of rice for two dishes, so I asked them one more bowl of rice, and the lady at the counter says only one bowl of rice is free. If I want additional bowl of rice it's going to be anther $2.16 for a damn small bowl of rice. It's not the little money they are charging that upset me, but it's their stinginess that they can't even offer another small bowl of rice without charge when I ordered 6 dishes of food that cost $116. Damn, this will be my last visit. There are other great Chinese restaurant in Buena Park and Fullerton. Try theirs. They should know a little extra service could go a long way. A little extra nice service sorely lacks in this poorly managed place. read more

I tried their Chinese cold noodles. Uhh... Tastes bad, fishy, and it just sucks. I had to add a lot of peanut butter (it comes with it), mustard, and vinegar, but figured that it was the noodle itself that tasted bad. Worst jjajang ever. The sauce was super dry and starchy. Our myun (noodle) order took forever to be served and the jjajang rice dish came with a fried egg that I'm sure was fried hours before and then reheated. The area was really in need of a good Korean Chinese restaurant. This simple food court spot hit all the right notes in terms of stall concept, but the food is so disappointing. I always try to support small mom and pop businesses. So I tried this place for the first time. Champong tasted alright. But I felt slighted by the extra "take out" charge. When I noticed my bill was higher I asked the lady if they charged anything extra. She first denied it. Then when I showed her my receipt she said they have to charge for take out. Do we have another option or dining in during Covid??? Granted it wasn't a large amount (so most people don't notice) but it's the principle. Instead of appreciating their customers who support them during the tough times they try to take advantage of them by nickel and diming them. I'll patronize other businesses that appreciate their customers by not sneaking in extra charges. It's just a bad business practice as it leaves a bad taste in the customers mouth. So far, I have tried only one menu - spicy seafood noodle soup here and it was actually pretty good. I actually didn't expect much because they had a split store front for Chinese food and some Japanese food. However, it turns out the food I tried was decent. Just one thing that I didn't like about the soup was the crab. Texture of crab in the soup was so mashed and I didn't like it. The orange chicken we had today had been frozen for a long time. It was soggy and left a nasty aftertaste. Some of the pieces were black inside. My dad now has food poisoning from it, and he only ate a few bites before I took it back. When the manager came out from the kitchen and I told him, he looked at me questioningly as if he had no idea what I meant. This place is only for jja jang myun and jjampong. Those dishes were very good so I expected other dishes also but those were terrible. All fried food including fried rice are really bad, I think chef doesn't know how to cook for fried food. Also those are so expensive. I wasted $40 for those food last weekend, we couldn't eat more and just threw away. If you go this place, just order jja jang myun or jjampong if you do not want to lose your money. read more
