These people tried to scam me into paying $16,000 for a vehicle they had listed for $8,500 that was Blue book valued for $5,200.

It is with great disappointment that we share our recent experience with the sales team at Maple Ridge Hyundai. Despite our hope for a fair transaction, it has become evident that they employ a tactic of including mandatory packages at inflated prices and will deny the deal unless you agree to their terms. Very similar to tactics utilized at a Kia Dealership in Edmonton, called out Feb 6th by the CBC for inflating the cost of vehicles through mandatory packages (https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/all-in-pricing-kia-west-edmonton-1.6733761). To our disappointment, they were unwilling to make any adjustments or negotiate the price and our purchase was denied. The general sales manager confirmed the dealership's standard practice to add mandatory six-thousand dollar package which included only, wheel locks, mud guards, bumper protector, nitrogen, and all weather mats, to the EV that they had reached out to us to purchase. When asked why they would force us to purchase a package with 1000% markup they cited "supply and demand" as the only reasoning. We even offered to pay a 250% markup and they declined the deal, saying there is over 500 people waiting to get an EV from the dealership, meaning this is systemic and they plan to take advantage of someone else. It is disheartening to see a local dealership taking advantage of their customers this way by effectively stealing two thirds of the governments subsidies to purchase an electric vehicle. read more

This was the worst service and experience I have ever received purchasing a new car. This dealership has very arrogant managers, have overinflated fees and hide them in package pricing. I was lied to by their general manager and told if I did not like their policies I could go elsewhere. The warranty on their new vehicles is deceiving, there is only a 3 year warranty on the technical dashboard which if this goes after the three years it would cost around $4000.00 to fix. This going would also wipe out your speedometer and gas gauge so the car would not be able to be driven. Since my reason for buying a new car is to have peace of mind for at least five years of no major problems I had to spend $1500.00 to extend the warranty for another 2 years. The manager said well you didn't have to, you do the math. One last interesting thing I noticed which I find bizarre is they also only warranty the battery for 2 years and paint job for 3 years, not to impressed with the Hyundai warranty. Found out recently a friend of mine( a lady who doesn't know much about buying cars ) purchased a used car from this place for roughly 16k Some scum conned her into pay for a bunch extra warranty that was not needed . I bought a Santa Fe from Hyundai Maple Ridge, and during the first week with the car, I noticed a problem with it. They replaced some parts but the noise was still there. So they did another diag, and the problem was with another part. Even though his mechanic recommended this replacement to get rid of the noise, the General manager said he would not pay for the repair as per him "it's a normal noise". Long story short, after a long talk, I decided to open a complaint with VSA about this issue. A few weeks later, the General manager called me back and agreed to replace the part but said that I would not be welcome there anymore. After the replacement it seems the problem is gone, at least I never heard that noise again. So with this issue and the outcome, unfortunately, I can't recommend this place. read more

STAY AWAY, FAKE & PHOTOSHOP CARPROOF. Purchased a used vehicle in November 2017 from Brent. Received a carproof from him that showed an accident of $2,xxx. 10 months later, car started to have problems with A/C not blowing cold, temperature sensor reading -40 degrees on a hot sunny day, check engine light comes on, constant creaking noise when driving. It's a good thing I purchased extended warranty because I brought it in to my local dealership and they replaced everything except for the creaking noise as I quote "Common problem on your car so they will not do anything about it". A week later, I have the same issues with A/C now blowing cold, showing -40 on the outside temperature and check engine light on. Dealership decided to run carproof as they said it is not normal to have the same issue even after replacing the parts. Carproof showed an accident of $9,xxx. I brought it up to Perry's attention (General Manager) on August 4th and he said he will contact carproof as this is very unusual. After not hearing back from him for a week, I called him again and he said Carproof has not contacted him and as soon as he hears anything back he will contact me. I am writing this review on September 7th. A month after I spoke with the GM and he clearly wants to brush off this situation and pretend like it never happened. I still kept my copy of the Carproof that Brent (sales person) gave me that clearly shows an accident of $2,xxx that was either photoshopped or forged that does not match the real carproof. If someone wants to get in touch with me to settle this situation, Perry has my number. I repeat, do not purchase any vehicles from them as they will photoshop the carproof to sell vehicles. read more

I searched on line in order to upgrade my 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. I found one on Maple Ridge Hyundai's site at a good price. My husband and I decided to take a look and met Wares Maleki. He knew exactly the car I was interested in and took us for a test drive. After deciding to buy the car, the finance officer, at my request, took many of the charges off the cost of the car and was able to find a reasonable interest rate for my loan. Keep away from this showroom, they are all full of broken promises. Family bought 4 cars off them over the years- first problem was step-son bought new sports car off them and they changed his wheels for summer and that they would store his winter tires. Went back in winter and they told him they couldn't find them. Next his girlfriend bought a 2nd hand small car of them, they didn't tell her that the window screen had been replaced and that it leaked every time it rained, they apologized and said they would fix it, they did and it still leaked, she had to take it to another garage to get sorted to her own cost, then my wife took are SUV in to get fixed as we thought it was a recall problem, it wasn't but we pointed out the problem that the pick-up guy found when he looked under the hood before he toed the car to the showroom. The jubilee clip had snapped on the water coolant and spewed all over engine producing car to over heat and bellow smoke every were. Wife picked car up yesterday and before she left she demanded that they open the hood, they told her everything was fine, she demanded to look and low and behold the clip was missing and coolant pipe was just forced on with clip missing, they apologized and said they would look into it and we got billed $847 - cheeky sods- stay away from these charlatans, if your car is not under warranty they couldn't give a monkeys about you. Forgot to mention the SUV was in there shop for 2 weeks and they could have got it back to us on the Friday but used the Rogers problem on it, we could have paid cash. read more

I bought a used tuscon from maple ridge hyindai, brakes started squeeking within two weeks, no second key, no owners manual, got a horrible deal on trade in, and am now basically stuck paying off both vehicles. I was stuck dealing with the so called manager that brags about being from New York, i was there when the place opened and was the last one to leave, I say there all day before I got to see the numbers, when protested about the 9000 dollars remainder on trade in the manager basically started credit shaming me in front of other customers, he even said he doesn't appreciate having his time wasted, the newest hit I'm taking is I recently discovered that they sold me a vehicle with locking wheel lugs and no key for them, its now on me to have them cut off and replaced, at any point if I had gotten a flat tire I would have been stranded with no way of even changing my tire, if you want to deal with a dealership that will cut every corner in order to save a few bucks then go ahead, I implore you to shop around, I made a massive mistake dealing with them but I was under the gun and needed a vehicle, and they knew it and took full advantage, they sent me on my way with a unsafe vehicle and withheld all negative info from me just to make a sale read more

We agreed on a price and financing option over the phone, so I gave a hefty deposit. One week later vehicle is ready(4 days beyond promised vehicle delivery date) I go in to sign the papers and they've completely changed the deal adding a smart interest rate instead of the originally promised rate. They purposely didn't send me the agreement in writing because it was there plan to screw me in the end I'm sure. Most people would have probably given in and taken their changed deal which is sad. This dealership is as greasy as they come, especially the sales manager Perry who's demeanour was very argumentative and just a sleazy character. Technically they fraudulently ran a credit check on me too since I only agreed to have it done based on the original deal. Stay away from maple ridge Hyundai, and buy privately! read more

Sheepie saw an ad on Craigslist for a 2014 Jeep Wrangler by this dealership, and it was what he were looking for so off we went. Sheepie was only planning to take a look at it, but he gave in and decided to buy it, lol. The dealership had coffee and tea - which most places have, but this one had popcorn to indulge in as we waited during the different process! Woo! When we started the financial phase, the sales guy kept talking about the monthly payments and such, never telling us the interest rate. We both asked about it a few times, and never got a number. The financial guy did the same thing. He kept dodging questions and replying with different wording that didn't really clear up anything. It was not until the end when Sheepie was supposed to sign, that I noted to him that it was a whopping 7.2%. That meant that to take 7 years to pay it off, there would be over $9,000 of just interest!! Crazy! One could buy a smaller used car for that money! There were additional costs that were not mentioned until the final papers - admin, delivery (when there isn't any - it's already at the lot) $2000 and the taxes that would not have been added if we had bought it from a private owner. There was this tire insurance thing for $600. I asked the financial guy TWICE if this was absolute mandatory/required, and he replied that "It's done on all of our cars." That did not answer the question! There was also this life insurance thing another $600. These came out to be an additional $8000!!! Going into the insurance department wasn't any better, in fact, it was worse. The lady was super grumpy as if it was detention camp. She never smiled once, or talk in a friendly way. Not a person you want to deal with when you are already dealing with insurance - something most of us don't like nor can wrap their minds around, especially when you're being bombarded with so much information just from the purchase of the vehicle. We had arrived at the dealership around 2pm, but we ended up being there till closing at 6pm. Everything throughout was all wishy-washy until bam! The bill with hidden fees finally showed it's ugly face. As Sheepie excitedly drove out of the dealership, he remembered that the ad on Craigslist had mentioned that it came with a soft top as well. We turned around and went back, just as the sales guy was leaving. "Oh, remember that I told you that there wasn't the soft top because I had mistaken the bags in the trunk as the soft top...but they weren't." Sheepie was devastated. I do recall him saying something on that lines when we were busy cleaning out the old trade in car and putting everything into the wrangler. We were both preoccupied, so the quick notice didn't register. For me, I didn't understand what he was talking about. He didn't explain or take effort to make sure Sheepie understood. Soft tops are anywhere from $800-$2000. So FALSE ADVERTISING! And, when we got home, we noticed the second pair of keys were not given to us. Carelessness? He called the sales guy, and he couriered the keys. But the soft top is still unresolved to this day. Sheepie has since called the sales guy only to be rerouted to his voicemail. Sheepie has gotten more impatient and left a message saying he would take further actions if needed. To that, the sales guy called back saying the soft top would come soon. It's been 7 weeks since purchasing the car, and still nothing...terrible! read more

I checked out this dealership with my older parents, who wanted to test drive a car the dealer had. I came along to help out as I've done extensive research for car buying for my own vehicle. We met Brent, whom my mom had been emailing. He was friendly, amenable, and accommodating. He allowed us a long test drive on our own, even though (we found out later) it's against their insurance policy. Very nice vehicle, though the asking price was far too high by comparison to other dealerships. Thus started the deal-breaker. Following the test drive, Brent sat us down in his office because we asked to look at the car's paperwork. We reviewed the CarProof provided, the reconditioning document, and he answered our questions well. For instance, the car was advertised as having 31,000 km on it, though it really had 34,600 km on it. He explained that it has been used as his coworker's personal vehicle for a time since it came in seven months earlier, as part of their perks. Yes, I understand his reasoning -- it's good to keep a car in use if it's sitting there unsold -- but I did find it false advertising to be so much higher. It should have been updated. And now the real trouble: I asked Brent if we could see the dealer's invoice on the used car. His eyes widened and he sputtered. He asked why. I informed him that even though I'm a picky customer, I am a fair one. I am interested in negotiating a price that is fair for both us and the dealer's profit. But in order to come to that number, I need transparency from the dealership. Brent said they didn't divulge that information, but I insisted so he went and got his manager. The manager, Sean I believe his name was, came over four minutes later. I recounted my same question and reasoning to him. His attitude seemed to go from cautiously friendly (because he already knew my question) to professionally offended. His reasons for denying my request ranged from not being able to run a business by divulging that intimate knowledge (my words), to the invoice price being really a fictitious number at this time due to the depreciation already incurred every two weeks since the car came in in May, to not even being sure he could get me the number. Yes, he gave lip service to agreeing with the need for transparency from both sides, but it came down to him not being willing to be open and honest. He sneered at my reasons that were based on my research and tried subtle flattery to get me to not want what I asked for. My mom asked why their price was so much higher than competitors ($17,700 vs. $13,900), and he said they price for what the market will bear. He then said, "Then why are you here?!?" To which my mom replied, "Why not?" In the end, we went in circles, so I ended the futility and we left. Conclusions I'm forced to draw from the managers's reasoning and behaviour: - MR Hyundai must have something to hide if they aren't willing to give me the figures for what they paid, even though I assured them that we were fully willing to give them a fair profit (3-6%). -MR Hyundai is not interested in coming to a fair price for both parties involved. They are more interested in padding their pockets with the money of the unsuspecting consumer than working with an educated customer. Brent emailed my mom back an hour later and expressed the token regret that we couldn't come to an agreement (i.e. that I didn't relent) and quoted my mom a price $2,000 less. A predictable gesture that was still too high, comparing it to Black Book and Vehicle Market Research. So, no, we will not be buying from Maple Ridge Hyundai because of their value of secrecy, unfairness to the customer, and shoddy reasoning for being so. read more

I Recently experienced horrible service here. My salesman Vlad was only pleasant to interact with the first moments we were with him. He quickly became short with us, as if our business was not wanted. When we had decided on a car, he gave me a final, all in ,taxes included no surprises price. My fiancé and I then acquired a personal loan cheque for the amount we were told the vehicle would cost. My fiancé went into the dealership by herself to purchase the vehicle , while I was at work. The salesmen then refuted the original price, and pressured my fiancé into paying additional charges ($$$) for the vehicle on things he swore we would not have to pay. When I proceeded to call him, he denied outright that the amount said earlier was the promised price. He claimed he hadn't gotten clearance from his manager for that price. However, a few days earlier, when we were offered his "Best Price" He said his manager, had just told him that was the best they could do. The salesman then tried to turn the situation around on my. I don't not expect 5 star service from a car dealership but this was just Horrid. If you can't stand by your word , no one can feel comfortable that they won't be taken advantage of . I would not recommend going to this dealership unless you like hidden fees, Disgruntled salesmen and false truths. read more

Recently purchased a pre-owned vehicle here that required $1,200 in repairs within two weeks of driving it off the lot. They also removed accessories (floor mats, cargo net, etc) from the vehicle that were supposed to be part of the deal. They promised to replace the accessories and stand by their vehicle, but didn't. Customer Service was horrible. They lied, were non-responsive, no-showed appointments for me to pick up a cheque and the accessories. I'm an easygoing customer and never write complaints online, but this dealership deserves every letter of this negative review! read more

I recently bought a used Tiburon 2004 and took it to MR Hyundai last October 31 for a simple routine inspection and oil change package ($119.00). It took them more than 3 hours to finish it which cost me being late for work and they did not even wash it as promised. I talked with their lady "Service Manager" and she was very defensive about their lousy service and staff and she never made me calm down and never offered any compromise or any attempt to make me come back. Their list of estimates for repairs to be done (after using their "state of the art" computer) were of course over the top. What scared me is that most of their findings were either wrong or inaccurate after taking the car to an independent brake specialist. Please don't be fooled by their newly renovated building and clean waiting area/showroom. The service manager seems to think they are good, but the only good thing I got from this bad experience was the complimentary Hyundai backpack. read more
