Sweet Hubs got another to go order from here a week or so ago. The order was someone else's order. Hubs is generally non picky and he enjoyed the meals received. I was surprised he liked hot sauce on his eggs, for example, and he said he did, which is great because one dish came with extra hot sauce. I reheated the grits the following day and they were actually good! That was the highlight of this take out meal for me. I thought the gravy in one of the dishes was sausage gravy, because doesn't everyone in the south add sausage to their gravy? But, it was just plain gravy. Boo! The eggs were pretty dead looking the next day (not their fault, I know), so I didn't try any of them. The bacon was undercooked for my preference but could have been easily remedied by popping in the air fryer. That was more effort than I wanted to expend on salvaging these dishes. Hubs is a biscuit fan and he was happy to devour whatever I did not, and again, he had no complaints which is excellent! I am not a biscuit fan at all, I just can't make myself like biscuit-forward dishes. I'm not even a fan of potatoes, which were in several of the dishes. Came here a couple of weeks ago to have a quick lunch. Having also recently dined at Big Bad Breakfast, I'd say this place edges it out for me, though the experience was still more or less just okay. There's ample parking and the restaurant was clean, airy, and open. You order at the counter here. While their focus is biscuits, they have other offerings like waffles, hash bowls, and even tacos. The service was very friendly though my food was a little slow to come out. In their defense, I think some folks from the corporate office were there assessing the place and they ordered almost everything lol. I had the hash bowl with scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese. I enjoyed the array of different goodies inside the bowl and the ingredients were balanced -- not too much of any particular item. The mushrooms were a little slimy and the eggs were a little hard for my preference but the potatoes were crispy and the chopped bacon was perfect. Oddly, despite the somewhat long wait for my food, the whole dish wasn't as hot as I'd have liked for it to be. It wasn't cold, just not piping. Overall, I had a pleasant time. I wouldn't necessarily make a special trip just to come here, but it's a decent choice for quick service breakfast/lunch/brunch in the area. read more

We were in the area and after a week of being stuck at home decided to swing by for breakfast. It's a walk up and order and then seat yourself type of place. This doesn't bother me. You get a number and they bring out your food when it is ready. If you get drip coffee, it's self serve. When you're done there are bins to put your dishes. For the food, I highly recommend the smash browns. They are so good! I do wish you got more of them with an order, but trust me you don't want to skip these! I love the fork and knife sandwiches. Today I got the firebird and I loved the buffalo sauce they use. I've had the squawking goat before too and that one is also tasty. I got a vanilla maple latte and it was ok. Wait this place has three stars? I have no idea why, the service was great and the food was as well. We went on Mother's Day and beat the rush. They gave each mom free biscuits. I can't rate those because my wife and child ate them before I could get a bite so I assume they were good. The coffees were also great, they are sweet if you get the fancy toffee one as I did which makes sense. Has little candy bits on it, was fun. I got chicken biscuit with bacon and while it may seem impossible you can pick it up and bite it, don't be scared. It's gonna be messy and delicious. read more

Came in, ordered quickly, got our coffee from the coffee bar, sat down and within 2 minutes the employee comes over with cinnamon biscuits saying "sorry it's an extra wait on biscuits today so enjoy these on the house". My third trip here//I try not to review a new place on a single visit. The wait...out the door. They seem to move the line quick enough, though. When folks are sitting outside in July it is a good indicator they are crowded. Inside is an industrial feeling...concrete floors, open duct work, exposed ceiling, wood tables with metal chair frames. The atmosphere is a bit noisy. There are a good amount of seats inside, but many of them needed to be cleaned, so folks were sitting outside to compensate for that. The folks here ask random questions that have no context to the customer. Why do you want to know my favorite Ice Cream Flavor or the first concert I went to? It seems like a phishing scam, but I know it isn't. They list it on the receipt as an identifier so they don't have to ask for your name. However, if you place a to-go order they ask for your name. The staff was friendly enough, but they are understaffed. When I did finally make it to place my order...I stood there without being acknowledged for about 90 seconds while workers busily scuttled around. That's fine if we are at McDonald's, but this is a $20 meal...and you are asking for gratuity. The cost seems high, but these days that's the trend. Check my picture. The food is good, but it will be too spicy for many. Specifically the gravy and the chicken seem to have a mild kick. I like it/my wife wouldn't enjoy it. Don't come here if you're on a diet...my dish was packed with more than 1,300 calories!! The orange juice is fresh--they have a nice machine that takes care of it all. My grandmother is in heaven mad at me for paying $6 for that machine to make me a small cup of that, though. The orange juice is also inconsistent--some of staff add ice to it and others do not. If I'm paying six dollars for that cup of orange juice...please don't dilute it with ice! All in all--good food, a little pricy, mediocre service. Three stars for me. read more

I've been wanting to stop at Maple Street Biscuit Company since they opened and just never had an opportunity until this morning. I placed an order for carry out. As I waited, I watched one delicious looking plate after another leave the kitchen. Then I waited. And I waited. By the time I got my food (just over half an hour wait), there was a whole table of us sitting there waiting for our carry out orders. When I got our food home, I was ready to dig in. I ordered "The Farmer". The selling point on this biscuit sandwich was apple butter. Sadly, the apple butter on my sandwich was missing. I was disappointed but then there was bacon on my biscuit so life would go on. Still, the overall biscuit sandwich was underwhelming. My husband had the "Five and Dime". Though it looked like a goopy mess in the to-go packaging, he did enjoy it (as did our baby grandson as he shared "pap's" chicken and biscuit). My bible study group goes out to eat together almost every week. With its long tables, Maple Street would be the perfect place for us to visit. First visit to Maple Street Biscuit Company in Madison. We got a little bit of everything and we really liked it all! As usual, we all ordered different items so we could try lots of things. I had the Pumpkin Waffle with dried apples and cherries and it was my favorite. I also got smashbrowns and bacon. Diane got the Potatoes O'Ryan Bowl with eggs, potatoes, peppers, and onions. We also shared the biscuits and gravy and Fried Green Tomatoes. it was all good, especially the tomatoes! Kelly ordered the Squawking Goat and I really enjoyed it. The quick takeaways: good food, slow service, big kinks to still work out. I would stay away until they get more traction. We visited around 11am a week after their grand opening. We've been excited to get a Maple Street after regularly visiting several Tennessee locations. The highlight of our visit was definitely the Squawking Goat biscuit, which was absolutely delicious. The combination of fried chicken, goat cheese, and pepper jelly on a flaky biscuit hit the spot. However, the overall experience was soured by a few issues. There were about 8 people in line ahead of us when we arrived, but it still took over 20 minutes to get our order placed since there was only one cashier. When it was our turn to order, we were disappointed to find out that the waffle maker was down and they were out of espresso so we couldn't get any of the waffle dishes nor iced coffee. Once seated, we noticed them advertising their app for ordering ahead, and since we'd been caught off guard at the register by their waffle maker and espresso issues, we considered supplementing our order from their app to avoid getting back in line. Unfortunately, the online ordering through their own website and app was turned off (which isn't exactly uncommon for newly-opened restaurants). However, they for some reason were accepting online orders through DoorDash. It just seemed odd to me to have DoorDash turned on for online orders, yet your in-house app turned off. We ended up waiting for half an hour for our food after placing our order. For a fast-casual restaurant (and compared to other Maple Street experiences), the wait was pretty frustrating. Overall, while the Squawking Goat dish was a highlight of our visit, the issues with the waffle maker, espresso, online ordering, and wait time left us feeling disappointed. I hope that Maple Street can work out the kinks and find their footing, but if you're considering giving them a try, I would recommend giving them a couple of months to get things smoothed out. read more

This review is a mixed bag of completely amazing and nope definitely not. Nice cozy atmosphere. Our table ordered a retro breakfast, a five and dime and a sweet Grace. The sweet Grace was good, it just needed to be cooked a bit more. The scrambled eggs had so much pepper in them the kids could not eat any. Disappointing. The biscuits are good, tender and flaky. The fried chicken is amazing! The down side is...too heavy on the pepper, AGAIN. The gravy is a tad pasty but not awful. The potatoes taste like onion patties, not potato patties. We've been to multiple Maple Street Biscuit Company's particularly the one in Chattanooga and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The one here in Madison is really missing the mark. When we arrived, the place is packed, no tables have been cleaned off for new arriving guests. We waited 15 minutes before I had to hunt down someone to clean our table. We waited for close to 40 minutes for our food. It arrived late because they'd given us the wrong table number. When I finally got to eat, I noticed my Squawking Goat was missing the goat cheese, the thing that makes the dish. My husband went up to get some and they informed him they didn't have any and did nothing to make it right. They just simply didn't care they'd sold us food that didn't have all the fixings. We've also noticed there's never a manager on duty. It's the kids running the place. All in all, this place is a pass. Go somewhere else. read more

Very welcoming honestly loved how everything was set up. Let's start off with "The Chicken Club" it is a fried crispy breast with bacon, spinach, and tomato, and with a side of ranch. The presentation of the biscuit already made it a 5 star the meat was very juicy!!!! My significant other had "The Firebird" which included a fried crispy chicken breast with a thick bacon, tomato, lettuce, and topped with house-made Buffalo and ranch sauce. We both bit into our biscuits at the same time and got the same reaction "This is our spot" it was really good that he had to get another one which was "The Farmer" almost the same as the other except it had cheddar cheese topped with house-made apple butter. First off this was our first time visiting MSBC, a subsidiary of Cracker Barrel. It very well may be our last and here's why. When you arrive, depending on the time of your arrival, you are more than likely to face waiting in line the way they make you wait in line at a place like Disneyland. You're either standing outside in the elements or you're inside standing in a serpentine line as if you're going through security at an airport. When you get inside they do have menus hanging on the wall in a box, or you can see a full menu online. Despite being able to see what you want to order before you get to the counter, what happens after makes the wait the best part of the experience. That's what MSBC is selling - an experience. The experience you will get is this; Once inside, - you wait in line, you finally order your selected food, you PAY UP FRONT, then MSBC delivers quite possibly the crappiest food you may ever have. Don't get me wrong - it's a crapshoot. Meaning - you're lucky if you do get a meal that's hot, fresh, and edible right off the bat. I ordered the High Steaks and my GF ordered the Squawking Goat plus a side of Maple Pepper Bacon and 2 Lattes. Here's what got delivered; My GF got her Squawking Goat and I got a thoroughly bleeding uncooked High Steaks dish. The chicken fried steaks were bleeding red juice and heavily breaded over sausage gravy - not good. We called the server back and explained to him that it was not cooked well enough and he removed it for them to fix. Their fix? Deep fry the dish longer and deliver it almost blackened with so much breading that MSBC should call the dish Deep Fried Breading over sausage gravy. The breading was so damned thick it made having the "steak" pointless. Please see the picture attached of leftover breading - quite bad. My GF told me her Squawking Goat was just OK - nothing to write home to Mom about. I doubt I would bring my own Mom to this place. As for the Maple Peppered Bacon? Served cold on a plate with about 6 small pieces - so not worth the price. As for the 2 LAttes ordered - never delivered with the meal and they would have taken the least amount of time to make. I wound up going to the counter with my table number sign and asked about them. Fortunately, one of the grill chefs working was standing by the espresso machine and asked if he could help me. He in turn delivered two fresh lattes to our table. Overall - disappointing for a place that's been around a few months now. The food pictured on the menu would be amazing IF it was delivered as shown. However, the food was uncooked or cold and the method of standing in line and paying upfront for crappy food is NOT worth a second visit in my humble opinion of course. So, in the words of Public Enemy, "Don't believe the hype" of The Maple Street Biscuit Company. There are plenty of other places to eat in, and around, Madison or the entire HSV area than to spend good hard-earned money on a place like Maple Street Biscuit Company. Hopefully, their mothership company Cracker Barrel can figure out how to right this ship. read more
