This is quite possibly one of the worst Mappins locations in Ontario. I received a watch as a gift and brought it to the store to find out what their process was to get it resized. There were 2 sales ladies there and the store was empty. One of the ladies who approached me told me that she didn't know the answer and they were too busy so to come again another day. Did I mention that it was 2 hours before the store closed? I ended up sitting on a bench right across from the store and calling the 1-800 number to complain... All the while they had no customers enter the store. read more

I took my opal ring in to replace an opal that had fallen out. First repair, it did not even make it home and the opal fell out. Took it back, comment was "well it was in there when you left" but they offered to replace it again. This time it lasted until the first time I wore it. One week later. Now they say that a third party fixes them and I would have to pay again. I refused, and they sent it away to see what they would charge, it has been a month and I have not heard a word. I was surprised when I read the previous review for Mappins. I went to mappins this past august to purchase my engagement ring. Paulette was the lady who helped us find my perfect ring. She was very informed and ensured that my ring was nickel free and within our budget. The prices here are really good, and their sale prices are probably the best. Did I mention they offer a military discount?! 10% off which was a wonderful surprise. I bought the warranty for my ring at only $160 and I am happy I did. I've already had my ring re-sized twice and it had to be fixed since I bent one of the claws around the diamond. My only complaint is that when my ring came in early they said they called and left a message but I never got a call... oh also! the phone number on Google for this place is wrong and constantly rings busy.... really annoying! I hope they fix this as I ended up waited and extra week or 2 before picking up my ring :( but overall, super happy with the service, the quality of the products, the warranty, and of course the prices. We will be back here to pick out our wedding bands for sure. read more

We bought a $1000 dollar diamond engagement ring from this store and was given it in a paper bag, without a case. I was in such a fog of happiness, I missed this first clue of the lack of professionalism and pride in product that was to come from this store. Less than a year after I bought it, I was shocked to see a gaping hole in my ring where one of the diamonds had fallen out. I rarely wear this ring for fear of ruining it, so I couldn't believe the shoddy quality we had paid so much money for. I have worn rings given to me by my mother that have lasted over 40 years without any jewels falling off! I took it to Mappins bayshore where I had bought it, and two women were sitting there in an empty store. As soon as I showed them the ring with the missing diamond, they were not surprised and didn't make any effort to help me. Eventually, one of the women reluctantly moved to the computer to look up my file. She said she didn't have my information on file and kept making excuses for this. They never asked for a receipt and I never kept one thinking they would have my information on file, for such an expensive purchase. My information was conveniently not on file. I can not believe how unprofessional the staff and the procedures of this store were. They didn't offer to fix the ring or show any pride in the product they had sold me. I felt hoodwinked and ripped off. When you purchase something so expensive and so sentimental, you expect proprietors to care as much as you do for the item you are buying. I was left standing there with a hole in my diamond ring, less than a year after I bought it, and a two smirking, indifferent Mappins sales staff just staring at me. If you are planning to buy something special and sentimental, and you expect it to last, as you rightly should, go to another jeweller. You will likely get a better experience with your purchase than the horror story I got at Mappins bayshore. read more
