3 stars It is by far in a beautiful location; the restaurant is spacious with plenty of greenery. The atmosphere and setting really are lovely, which makes it a nice spot to sit and enjoy. That said, the stars are based on the food, and unfortunately this was the most expensive meal we had in Mexico City and it wasn't even close to the best. The food overall was decent, but nothing that stood out as worth the price. The pan dulce was all cold and firm no matter which variations we tried. We had a party of 9 and many items were forgotten about, which made service feel a bit chaotic. For my meal I ordered a jamón y queso empanada and a tamale con rajas y queso. About 15 minutes later they came back and said they were out of the jamón y queso empanadas and only had tinga left. I said that was fine, but when it arrived it was cold, almost frozen. I asked them to heat it up, which they did. The tamale, on the other hand, was good--hot with great flavor. The coffee and juice were also solid. I enjoyed afternoon cafe y helado and also a refreshing lemonade. Breakfast was creamed spinach omelette with time given to finish my work. A nice spot to watch a sporting event, too. a stones throw from our room and seemingly open all of the time ! At first, we thought it was a fruit cake store as there was a huge hanging sign over the door that must have remained from the holiday.. So funny. But once we walked over, we saw that it was a very lovely, traditional restaurant with very friendly servers. We were able to stand with the employees during our earthquake evacuation into the street. I especially loved my omelets with the creamed flor de calabaza that came with chilaquiles. I will say that the employees are super polite..and can't imagine them running after a customer because they did not tip enough. With that said, the man did go ahead to add 15% to my card as I was signing out, and I said it was fine because I was going to leave that much or more anyway, but they should not have assumed. I'm gonna start by mentioning that this was my favorite place I ate at while in Mexico City. The restaurant itself is very cute with very nice indoor and outdoor seating. The service was also very good throughout. Now for the best part... the chilaquiles. SO GOOD! We ordered the chilaquiles with chicken and egg and this was, hands down, my favorite dish of the trip. They bring the pastries on a tray to select from and we went with a classic vanilla concha that was so soft and yummy. Orange juice tasted fresh squeezed and refreshing. There was a mix-up with a raisin muffin (we were told it was a nut muffin with no raisins) but they readily removed it from the bill. We ended up coming back to Maque for more conchas and muffins on another day. Overall, would definitely recommend! And I'll be dreaming about these chilaquiles! read more

Definitely a tourist trap! However the restaurant is pretty and the coffee is yummy! The food was ok! It was soggy and had a minimal flavor. However, Service is great! They greet you and are very friendly. Several things they need to work on is the people who walk around and pester the customers they should be on top of it more. I was very annoyed with the haggling of items and the people trying to sell me things while trying to enjoy my breakfast. I understand it's their lives but one lady was crying to me telling me of her 5 kids at home and would not leave me alone until I gave her some pesos! I probably wouldn't come back to this restaurant while in Mexico City! The ambiance was pretty and the park next to it is nice for a walk! Lovely bakery & café restaurant in a tranquil urban area with lots of trees. They make a simply incredible iced Dirty Chai latte, one of the best I've ever had. Smooth, creamy and sweet in a tall glass. The cake I tried was spectacular. It tasted like a tiramisu but with less layers, moist and sweet with chocolate on top. They make fresh pastries and croissants, and I've heard that their cinnamon buns are the best in town. Will try those next. Beautiful outdoor seating and it's nice inside as well. Despite this privacy, street vendors run a muck in this area, approach your table and are persistent with their sale tactics--while it's beyond the restaurant's control, it can be a bit intrusive. The breakfast menu offers something for everyone, with a variety of sweet and savory options, as well as light and more authentic Mexican dishes. They have a vast drink selection, but my favorite were the mimosas served with freshly squeezed orange juice. Note: servers will bring pastries or drinks to your table (also intrusive) -- these are NOT complimentary. Don't be afraid to say no. Service: Our waitress took a long time to attend to us on several occasions--it's clear they need more staff or better support. I would advise ordering and getting your bill while you can. read more

Was looking for a walkable brunch spot near Condessa. The restaurant is a bit small but it is a pretty cafe. The smells of pastries were very welcoming. I got the initial charge immediately and another young lady said here, use this other terminal I've been having issues with that terminal. I loved their lemon frosted bread. I came back twice to this restaurant to have it. The first time I ordered a vanilla latte which was delicious. The second time my husband ordered the same and it came out tasting different and in a different cup. He asked if this was a vanilla latte and the young lady said yes but sounded annoyed. There were little crispy flakey things on a bed of tomato sauce and everything combined into a delectable bite! The food was very authentic (great Huevos Rancheros!) but the breads were amazing. Especially the corn muffin. I'm in my sixties and have never used the word "creamy" to describe a muffin before. That, and the taste was excellent; well-balanced! Unless you're High Maintenance, or just showing off, you can't go wrong with this pace for breakfast. Tourists this review is for you. Maque is very popular and it almost always has a 10-20 minute wait time depending on what day and time you go. It's a first come first serve basis. I've gone twice and the first time I let a lot of things get by because I didn't know better. The location is great, especially if staying in Condesa. It's a treat to sit outside and people watch and if not, all the greenery makes it a very pleasant view. One thing to keep in mind is if sitting outside, you will continue to get approached relentlessly by people trying to sell you things and when you decline they will ask for money. Service for me has been adequate at best. Servers are polite but there is no transparency and from the moment you sit down, fruit, parfaits, sweet bread will be brought to your table like it's complimentary and you will be charged for everything. Like I said, the first time, I wanted to enjoy the moment but this second time around, I declined anything I didn't want. Food is good but for the price I say you can definitely eat better somewhere else. If you are a coffee snob like we are, opt for a fresh juice instead. Coffee is not good. I normally will never give an establishment such a low rating because customer service will and can make up for anything. So here is the reason for the 1 Star. My last visit, our server was Marcela and she was very busy so she was preoccupied with other things and she wasn't the most welcoming server. My issue is at the end after leaving her an appropriate tip for the service we received, she very loudly said it wasn't enough. She proceeded to tell us, she has to pay the register a percentage and that if we were okay having her pay it. I perhaps missed it but at no point did I read that gratuity was mandatory. I also didn't understand what she was saying about paying money to the girls inside. My husband gave her another bill and she continued to say it wasn't enough. I was deeply embarrassed and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I definitely won't be returning because I didn't appreciate her approach. I also think that what she was saying was not all true and just wanted a bigger tip. read more

They do the same with mimosas as well. It is a nice service. We were sat quickly, we opted for outside. The neighborhood is cute and most are out walking their dogs or dining there with their pups. We quickly ordered our food, it did take a bit to arrive however I think that's why they walk around offering different items. The service as far as offering items and bringing your food was good but if you really paid attention I felt it was lackluster. They were mainly talking amongst themselves and having fun-and the girl who took our order and brought out food had a bit of an attitude. Firstly, if you're stopping by on a weekend without a reservation expect at least an hour wait time. If you don't have a reservation there's a wait time and they don't have any waiting areas, so you're pretty much left standing around. They have a downstairs seating area with an outdoor patio and an upstairs area as well. Despite it having been extremely busy, the upstairs area wasn't loud at all, and you could actually have a conversation. Upon being seated we were offered pastries, they were pretty dry and not so great. However our actual entrees were FANTASTIC! These chilaquiles were delicious the sauce had the right amount of kick while still being very savory.
