Mar-Bella is a must visit if you're staying near Puerto Morelos. They provide a needed break from standard resort food and have some of the best seafood I've had in my life. The restaurant ambiance is amazing as you're right on the beach with a great view of the ocean. They also had great music to provide fun energy to the place. The meal generally starts with items from their raw bar. This time we had a mixture of Hamachi, Blue-Fin Tuna, and Octopus. All of which were served together in an amazing sauce/dressing. They give you loads of chips and salsa's to pick at as well. For the main, they have a variety of daily catches that are (and sometimes aren't) available. We went with the Snook, which they let us hand pick. We also ordered it with Lobster tail and crab legs. Both were amazing and came with Garlic Butter sauce for dipping. The Lobster was my favorite. Additionally they gave us squid ink rice and creamy pasta to accompany the fish. Service was pretty solid as well and the team there is fun and wants you to have a great time. As everyone else has echoed the menu is a tad confusing. They have a board with all the fresh fish and seafood offering on it, and how much they charge per weight. Then you have a smaller handheld menu which has a bunch of stuff on it, like entrees and I think appetizers. Anyway, we ordered two oysters (nice you can do it by the piece here), red snapper, and an octopus. The octopus was chewy and according to my partner not seasoned super well, the red snapper was ok (HUGE portion - I wasn't aware I could ask for the smallest one but I am now lol). The oysters were good but I don't usually eat oysters. The service was great and the view is beautiful. Very expensive place, and much like all the other places in PM, the food isn't worth the price. read more

Took a trip to Puerto Morelos for lunch and were walking along the beach. To be honest, we picked Mar-Bella due to the location and view. The fresh, tasty seafood was a welcome surprise! Hubby and I shared the hamachi because this is the first restaurant we have even seen it on the menu, and it was very high quality. I also had a Tostada Carmelizada and loved the tuna. Hubby got the aguachilies with octopus instead of shrimp, and liked it, but wished it was spicier and found the octopus a tad rubbery. The service was good, and the location right on the beach fabulous. This is also a fish market, and we will be back to purchase some hamachi. read more

Husband and I came here to munch on a red snapper ceviche. It was absolutely DELICIOUS! Completely forgot to snap a picture. Be sure to ask for the habanero salsa! Love this place! It's like they hop into the water and pluck out a fresh fish as soon as you order. They even bring it to you to show you how fresh. Great food, great cocktails, and great outdoor vibe. It's right in front of the ocean so you get all the views and covered so you're safe if it rains. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu when we asked for recommendations. We'll be back when we return to Puerto Morelos! read more

Location is great! Overpriced food and drinks; we ordered 2 Old Fashions and a plate of ceviche; total cost was $80 before the tip... are you kidding me? The drinks were good, but my husband makes a better $20 drink. The ceviche was a sloppy presentation that felt like yesterday's leftovers. The items on the chalkboard menu are charged by the weight (another way to rip off tourists?) and the handheld menu has no pricing on it. A couple seated near us only had a margarita and a beer and were NOT happy with the bill, calling the manager over to complain (unsure of the resolution/outcome). Please be careful eating at this restaurant. Food is very good. But the prices are very deceptive. They take advantage of tourists with their exchange rates and pricing. My group had a very bad experience on Saturday. It was over $400 for a dinner of four. The waiter made up some thing for "surf and turf tacos" where they charged separately for the shrimp and steak. The exchange rate they had was about two dollars higher than XE. Mad a great eating experience very disappointing feeling like you were taken advantage of. read more

The food is meh at best. The oysters were the worst oysters I have ever had. They tasted like they were soaked in rock salt. Needless to say I sent them back. Our meals were not even warm. The menu is very confusing. They bring out a big black board with what turns out to be all their specials of the day but act like that is all they have to order from. So as Americans we were sitting there trying to figure out how many grams of fish to order and how much that would cost since it was priced per Kilo. Then after that frustration, they bring the menu out with appetizers and tacos and the different ways they can prepare the fish. Seems like this should have been the first part of the presentation. We got 2 tiny langostines which came out cold, had them sent back and they just put them back on the grill instead of making fresh ones for the inconvenience. The grilled oysters/clams were good but they are priced the same or more expensive than the United States when we are right here on the water. Shrimp and crab claw cocktail was ok. Everything was extremely overpriced, cost even more than the United States but with bad/slow service. If you are going to serve things by the weight you need to weigh it in front. My two tiny langostines were not half a pound, I know that for sure. And there was not a half pound of crab in the cocktail, just tiny tiny pieces. Overall very disappointed. Also neither the mojito nor the lemonade came with simple sugar or sugar cane! If you're going to charge $4 for a lemonade please make sure it's not just lemon and water. Then we had to wait 10 minutes for simple syrup. We have no issue paying the price for good food, we have a food blog and eat a Michelin starred restaurants but the service better match as well. I live in both Miami and Chicago and this seafood was more expensive than both! $111 a pound for lobster. Absolutely ludicrous! read more

Unfortunately, it started to rain soon after being seated and the table was uncovered. The restaurant had no backup plan for those of us seated at those tables. They offered to squeeze us in at the bar, since the restaurant was full. We said that this solution was unacceptable. We did not make a reservation to be squeezed in at the bar!!! Wait staff was rude and unhelpful and the manager did nothing to resolve the issue (I have my doubts that this was even a manager). Stay away!!!! Go to Punta Corcha instead! read more
