It was pretty busy when we walked in. Lots of people and a little chaotic. We used the Kiosk to order. After waiting more than 20mins and I noticed people that came in after us were getting their food, I went up to ask about our order. And they said they did not have it. They asked what our order is and said they will make it now. So now we waited another 5-10mins. That part was a bit frustrating. However, she did feel bad and gave us an extra fries. So that was nice. The food? Bomb! The smash burger tasted so delicious. I wish I got a double. haha.

I can't resist a fly crip so I went to Marathon Burger This spot is great because you can shop up and down Meltose Ave and stop here for a burger. Inside it feels like an old diner with the island/bar style seating. I ordered the Marathon Burger Combo that came with their seasoned fries and blue lemonade. I thoroughly enjoyed the smashed burger and killed the fries. It was a solid meal 10/10

My son and I stopped at The Marathon Burger for lunch on a weekday. The burger stand was clean. The customer service was good. It was our first time so the cashier took time to explain the difference in the burgers. We ordered strips, burgers, fries, wings and blueberry drink. The food was fresh and tasty. Definitely would try it again. We ate out on the patio. One of the employee saw to it the tables ans seats were clean. I watched him wipe down tables after patrons left after eating which I loved.

I am a big Nipsey fan & have had this spot on my list for a while. Each time I tried to make a trip the line was insane. Finally made the trip & found the line was reasonable enough to join! Parking is a bit of a hassle at this location. I think it's all about luck so probably just plan to take some time looking for parking. My boyfriend & I came with an appetite so we ordered quite a few things. We tried the OG Burger combo, fried shrimp, wings & fries. I also got the blue lemonade. The star of the show for me was the burger, I really enjoyed it. Flavorful, & just enough meat on it. I enjoyed the fried shrimp quite a bit as well! Just wish they offered hot sauce with it but I would definitely get it again. The wings were a bit dry but still had flavor. We took the food to go so the fries did get a little soggy, will have to give those a review next time when they are fresh. We waited quite a bit for our food, probably about 35-40 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. I love the ambiance of the place. The staff was super nice & chatty. One of the staff outside had us cracking up while waiting for our order. Glad to see the Marathon vision is staying alive & well repped. Can't wait to come back

Great experience at Marathon Burger! Had the Marathon Burger, hot wings, fries, tiger shrimp, and lemonade--everything was excellent. The tiger shrimp was a standout... flavorful, cooked perfectly, and a must-try. Service was friendly and on point. Space is a little tight, but it's a great spot for a party of two. Definitely going back!

The wait was only 15 mins and the service was great. I ordered the marathon burger. It had unique flavors and tasted pretty good, so I wish it was bigger. The fries were seasoned perfectly but kinda soggy. They still tasted really good though. With minor tweaks this place could be great but it was still pretty good.

I've met Nipsey back in 2014 and still hold the beloved photo I have with him. We were listening to his music when he was still on his way up and will forever "Double Up" on that. I finally got the chance to try this legacy establishment as I've been eager to try this one. Marathon burger just happened to be a vendor at a major event I participated in and worked for. I've tried their vegan burger option and it was hearty good. It came with this amazing sauce. The fries were just enough to complete the meal like any other typical fries. The burger was the main head if anything lol The staff on hand showed their strong work ethic at this event. Props to their team! I will say they are worth doing business with for your next event. I plan to give a location a visit to get a feel for it (Locations in Melrose and Venice). Amazing burgers! As always, the marathon continues! Thank you!

10/10 experience, amazing customer service. Q was very nice and helpful! Food was fresh and lived the lemonade

Overhyped and overpriced Burger was good, but not $15 good. The onion rings, got to say the worst I've had. They where so hard to eat, tough breading and hard to chew. Thanks alot Brown Bag mornings for hyping this place up.

We stopped by Marathon Burger in Los Angeles while at the convention center. Service was great. We ordered their smash burger, and it did not disappoint. The double patty was stacked with cheese, ketchup, mustard, and pickles on a soft brioche bun. The patties had that perfect smash-style crisp on the edges while still staying juicy, and the cheese oozed right into everything, tying all the flavors together. The tiny pickles and ketchup/mustard combo gave it the perfect balance. The brioche bun held up well without getting soggy. I only wish it was bigger or maybe a triple patty. We ordered fries and their almost famous blue juice Overall, a really solid, satisfying smash burger. It was simple, flavorful, and done right. I'd definitely order it again. Just a little pricey.

I've been wanting to try marathon burger since it opened! I've always been a Nipsey fan and we all miss him rip! We came on a Monday morning when they first opened. The service was quick and everyone was friendly. I'm on a diet so we got the Jr burgers with fries, onion rings and an Arnold Palmer. The burgers were made fresh on the grill and the onion rings and fries were nice and hot, everything was delicious 10/10 even the ranch and spicy ranch. The jr size burgers are filling enough. It's great location on Melrose, the seating is limited so I suggest getting there early. They're are 2 other locations and another one opening in Long Beach march 1st. I'll definitely be back anytime I'm in LA!

I happen to be in the area for an appointment and when I parked my car I looked and saw Marathon Burger I was so excited, I couldn't wait to try it and OMG they did not disappoint!! The BURGER WAS SOOOOOOO GOOOOD!!! I'm not a burger person but because it's Nipsey! I'll eat it, of course my theme is to support black own business! The staff was very nice as well Oh can't forget I got the Fried Shrimp as well they were also good! And the blue green drink to go with it Awesome food!! I will be back!!!

Gotta support while I'm in LA

First I'd like to say if you aren't a fan of peppers Fresno peppers to be exact tell them to hold them. Unfortunately I didn't read what came on the burger, I didn't like the pepper combination at all. For starters my vegan patty was super cold, I was so disappointed although the peppers were hot. It didn't help me with the cold patty. Since this is the house patty it is made with potatoes and rice. Neither one of those ingredients are good cold, unless the potatoes are in a potato salad! Other than that please pay attention to the cook time on this patty. It was literally falling off in clumps. They do have another vegan option the mushroom burger. I just wanted to see how the house patty tasted. Service was great! Friendly staff, the location is pretty tiny. You can order for pick up, luckily it wasn't too packed! We were able to order and got the food in like 20 minutes. The wings 5/5 we got a 12 piece half mild and half lemon pepper mild. Fried to perfection omg they were super yummy! I loved the onion rings and fries! Those onion rings had a crunch that made you wanting another bite! Fries shoestring style with the perfect crisp as well. One thing for sure they have perfected the crisp and crunch! Now I was disappointed the cheesecake dessert wasn't available because of a broken stove! Now listen here listen here! Being this is a tourist attraction the entire menu should be available or offer another dessert that can be cooked without the oven like a banana pudding. The drinks another 5/5 I got the blue one a perfect blend of sweet without being too sweet. I will try again making the adjustments needed to fit my preferences. I'll update the review the next time I'm in California. Other than that thank you Blacc Sam and family for keeping the marathon going!

To say we are devastated is an understatement. Connie and Ted's was both our "just because" and our special occasion dinner spot. We came here all the time when we wanted something fresh, clean, new, and delicious. We loved their rotating specials and fish of the day (although I would always default to the monkfish whenever it was in the menu). Well, our last visit this past Saturday was memorable, and just as good (if not better) as our previous visits. We started off with some oysters, got the New England clam chowder, Parker rolls to dip them in, and my wife got the Saturday New England Boil Dinner special, and I got my monkfish. Everything was impeccable. And we had to finish the night with one of our favorite desserts in the city, the blondie. We'll miss this place, and we wish the best for the owners in their new endeavors. Hopefully they reopen in the future, because there will be a Connie and Ted's shaped hole in our hearts (and stomach).

Maybe LA doesn't deserve these spots that pay such attention to every detail that we can't support them and they leave us. I know it's more a sign of the current times but sad whatever the reason. Had a great solo experience at the bar tonight that started with happy hour drinks and a mini lobster roll that continued on to dinner with steamed manilla clams in white wine and herbed crostini. Everything was chefs kiss on every level. I hope to come back a few more times before they close (but aren't forgotten). Thank you for your dedication to the craft of New England fresh and premium fish and seafood. Connie and Ted would be so proud.

Tucked in between the Pico-Robertson & Mid-City neighborhoods, Charlie's sun-faded marquee stands testimony to its many years of service to the community. Sides include fries, hush puppies, green/macaroni/potato salad. The #1 lunch combo (3 pc. fish + 5 pc. shrimp) is my go-to. Lunch combos are served with a simple green salad, fries, and 2 slices of wheat bread or a dinner roll -- all for a nominal price of $15. The cornmeal battered fish & shrimp were perfectly fried. Fries were alright too! The food was honestly fresh for everything being deep fried. There were a couple spots to sit inside but I got the feeling most people carry out. I'll definitely come back. I recommend this spot over other nearby fish & chip places.

I expect Southerners to know good food. He must be judging this by L.A. standards. As a native Angeleno whose family is from the South, this ain't it. I come from a long line of cooking women. I could have produced much better from my kitchen - and have, down to the cole slaw. I ordered a #17 - 3 pieces of fish with 4 jumbo shrimp, fries, cole slaw and bread, because I don't like hush puppies. I also ordered potato salad on the side. I noticed immediately that my food smelled a little fishy when the delivery driver handed me my bag. For people who don't know, seafood should smell aromatic. If it smells fishy, it signifies your food isn't [that] fresh. It looked great. I like the addition of onion rings to the order, because I love onion rings, despite hating onions otherwise. However, they could have kept the two little onion rings they threw in. They were more of an afterthought than an addition. I question the freshness of my order. My food did not arrive hot, despite the driver making it to me quickly from the restaurant. The fries were definitely not fresh or hot, which pmo, because I love french fries. They tasted overcooked and like they sat under a heat lamp. I asked for 2 pieces of red snapper (after reading a review that someone ordered catfish and it was bad) and a piece of filet of sole. They gave me 3 pieces of red snapper and threw in a piece of sole because it was so thin. It was thin and fried hard, which is a no. I would never order the sole by itself, as it is too thin and I would not be satiated. The jumbo shrimp are very large, but they were a bit tough, which means they were overcooked. The cook(s) need(s) to check their cooking time. All orders should be made-to-order, not premade, especially at a fish market. The cole slaw was ok. It was a little too 'soupy' for my taste and it has a sweetness to it, which I'm not a fan of. The tartar sauce came in ketchup-type packets. It should be fresh. The fries are frozen crinkle cut fries, the same as you can buy from the grocery store. The hot sauce was thick - not the kind of hot sauce you eat with fish or shrimp. It's like sriracha, which is a no. The potato salad was surprisingly good. I'm not a big potato salad fan, but theirs is good. The red snapper is ok. It wasn't fried too hard. Will I order from Penguin again? Highly unlikely. I've had better elsewhere and the food was actually hot and fresh on arrival. I wouldn't recommend Penguin if someone hadn't already eaten there, either. The food isn't memorable in a good way. (It isn't some perception that my food wasn't cooked properly. It is a reality. Restaurant owners need to take accountability for their kitchens sending bad food out. They are quick to reply and slow to take accountability or implement the necessary changes to improve. There won't be a second chance with me. Trust.)
