Satay vermicelli noodle soup, curry beef with rice, pineapple bun
    Helen T.

It was so good, I went back two days in a row! I went to their Richmond Hill location many years back, and never tried again. I thought their food was mediocre. Decided to give their North York location a try, and boy was I surprised by their food!! Ordered again the next day to confirm the quality is consistent... and I am pleased!! The only con about this location is that there is only one small table for two people. This location serves mostly take out/ delivery.

I remembered someone saying there was a famous hk spot near Yonge and Finch that sold breakfast items, so I decided to give it a try. This location is basically takeout only, but there is one table that might be vacant. Ordered a pineapple bun combo which comes with a variety of different options that go with your bun, plus their award winning milk tea. Also ordered a satay beef noodle soup combo, where you can choose the type of noodles you like, and it also comes with an egg sandwich and a cup of milk tea. All of the items were fresh and delicious. The pineapple bun combo is only $8.50, which is a great deal. Definitely worth trying

One of the best Hong Kong Milk Tea in Toronto. Food wise, their best dishes are Hainan Chicken Rice and Baked Pork Chop Rice with Cheese. It's a good unique addition to the Yonge/Finch area food scene.

Marathon Cafe finally opened in our neighbourhood! Yay! This is almost like the Chinese Starbucks to milk tea with authentic Chinese snacks and food. The existing locations are at Scarborough and Richmond hill. This new North York location is take outI, three weeks later dine in is available (3 seats only) It used to be a takeout bubble tea, so the space is small. Pick up and go type of concept. Grand opening discount if you order from the online link, it is 25% off until March 5th (Cash only) We ordered the corn and egg sandwich with drink $8.55. Flavour wise was tasty but the corn made the bread a little moist. The Luncheon Meat & Egg Sandwich Combo with Drink (20oz) $9.05. The cold milk tea and lemon ice tea is good as always, except I will ask for less ice next time. I think the milk tea always tasted better than the lemon ice tea even at the other locations. Definitely glad Marathon cafe landed in my neighbourhood. Welcome to the hood Marathon Cafe!

Yay, finally, as I am Hong Kong Style tea fever, there is a shop near Yonge and Finch has the best HK tea in town! This tiny take out shop is on finch west North of finch. There is no Decorations at all in the shop and has tiny wait area. As this is takeout shop, I don't mind it does not have any. I am most concern if the tea is as good as in Scarborough main shop. I ordered satay noodle with egg sandwich with tea set and rice noodle with tea. Finally it tastes like authentic HK style . YES! No need to go to Scarborough for authentic HK casual food. There is no parking on finch. However, I believe you can just quickly drop the car on the side street for the pickup. Or order delivery. Update: got instant noodle for breakfast. Noodle is too soft. Sad.

sausage, egg instant noodle, 20oz hk tea

I've been to Marathon in Richmond Hill a few times so had a good sense of what I was getting into here. Marathon's been the place I always remember when they won the award for the best HK Tea. The unfortunate thing is their their prices are high and their food is average. That hasn't changed. I was in the area and craving HK food and one of the good things going for Marathon is that it opens early. Most HK style cafes don't open until 10-11AM. Maybe that's how they charge so much. This location is one of those street facing styles near Yonge/Finch, only take-out. No room inside for sitting or even waiting really. So I ordered an instant noodle, sausage+egg combo. Comes with a 20oz drink. Came to about $12-13. It's pricey. The drink is enough of 2 ppl, not sure why they don't offer a smaller size. Quality wise, it's decent. Can't go wrong with instant noodle as long as they don't cheap out on the brand. The HK tea is good as always. The only downside is the pricing.

So runnnnn! Another plus till late hours at night so apt for any midnight cravings The store is clean and has ample of seating space , not only it is brightly lit up but also has a clean washroom. Being from India, I have been exploring Vegetarian and Potato patty based burgers in GTA that would be similar to the ones I have had there. So when I saw a vegetable burger on their menu for 5$(with promotion excluding tax), definitely wanted to try it. It turned to be really crispy consisting a potato based grilled not fried patty in the center. Loaded with veggies and sauces which we could choose from similar to subway. Additionally the sizing was medium to large and everything tasted fresh. Special mention to the cheese quality and quantity which unlike some popular burger joints wasn't stale and well blended. choices available cheddar, mozzarella or normal not as an add on but included. Since its a new store, I understand that staff is bustling with orders and a wait times of upto 5-8 minutes can be expected. Anyhow the portions and flavours surely make up for it. Being on a busy road with various competitive food joints, @Grillies can be a great place for affordable comfort food both dine in and takeouts.

I was just doing my daily walk goal and good thing i brought my wallet. In the first picture, you'll see the menu. It's really cheap and this is something i would spend for a snack. It was hard for me to find a spot where I can eat all the stuff I got. well, it's a street food anyway. I bought like 7 items in total but they didnt give me a bigger brown bag :( im not sure if they have but it would come handy for people who would like to buy more Flavour: Im not good with spice but for some reason, I was able to tolerate the spice on this one. It doesnt really burn and I could still taste the flavour along with the spice. I love the redbean waffle! It comes in 3 :) it was too hot so make sure you wait for a bit! It's so soft and still good to eat after a few hours

The soups tastes like miso soup that you would buy from the store, very salty. All the seafood are very fishy tasting. Everything is drenched in either a spicy sauce or teriyaki sauce. The taiyaki was crispy on the outside and filled with red bean paste which would taste better if it were a tad bit sweeter. I did enjoy the Bulgogi, Kim-Mari and the spicy ketchup based sauce. There was no line up when we went, staff is friendly but there is a definite language barrier; I had to repeat my orders a number of times. My food was barely warm, maybe it's better during the rush hours. The soups, however, were piping hot! I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. If I was in the area, had only a few coins in my pocket (items range from $1.25-$5), and was hangry, I would stop by again.

I'm not a bad carb person so I can barely make a dent in their rice/noodle dishes for lunch. So I was happy to see non-rice/noodles based dishes that is served all day and not just tea time. I ordered the yuzu chicken steak with potato salad. It comes with a drink and soup. The chicken steak was deep fried, with liminal batter and the met remains juicy. The yuzu sauce was spread on top. First time seeing chicken + yuzu at a cha cheng teng. What took me by surprised was the potato salad. It was definitely made in house, with chunks of apples, carrots, red onion, ham and eggs. Love how it was also not dose in miracle whip. I chose the Chinese soup (instead of western style) and it was flavorful. I would said better than most Chinese restaurants who gives for complimentary soup for dinner. There was minimal MSG, as I didn't feel thirsty afterwards. The HK milk tea was the weaker component of this set, the tea base was lacking in flavour and didnt have the "thick" texture to it.

The taste of the food is pretty much spot on to the other locations, and very classic cha chaan teng foods. Service here is really good actually! They are super attentive and are sure to repeat your order so they have it right. They come to refill your water quickly and often as well. The place isn't very busy most of the time, so it's usually pretty easy to get a seat.
