    Souvlaki

Great family restaurant - casual diner ambiance and generous portions. Ordered souvlaki, pitas, and grilled lamb chops ($30). Everything was really good and lamb chops were some of my favorite and best seasoned/grilled I've ever had in a restaurant! Friendly, prompt service. In a busy strip plaza.

Dropped by here as it is one of my favourite souvlaki places. I used to come here regularly (once every few weeks) when I worked in the area but nowadays I only go here if I'm in the neighbourhood or if someone wants to meet up around the area for a lower priced sit down restaurant. The place has free WiFi but it is password protected so you need to ask the server for the password. I asked and it was provided to me without any issues. I ordered their lunch trio and it comprised of fries, a pita of your choice, and a soft drink. I opted for the chicken souvlaki pita. Not sure if things changed but they no longer seemed to offer garlic buttered bread here. At first I thought it was just me but when I looked at the other tables, none of the tables close to me had bread on their table. My meal came relatively fast as did my soft drink (in glass). I was a bit surprised when it came out as I was expecting a larger plate and for there to be my choice of either Marathon salad or Greek salad but I think that I ordered the wrong thing (or I ordered the souvlaki plates previously during my lunches here and got used to it and never ordered the souvlaki trio) The restaurant was somewhat busy/crowded and even though I finished my water and finished my soft drink before I had finished my fries, I wasn't offered a refill of my water. When I finished my fries, the waitress took my empty plate and asked if I wanted anything else and I said no. She then brought me my bill and stood while I keyed in the tip value on the machine (since I was paying by credit card). I thought that the food was very good. The service could have been better. It wasn't bad but could have been better (such as refilling the water). They also seemed to be cutting back as they didn't give anyone their garlic butter bread.

OH MY this place was incredible! Everything was so flavorful and scrumptious! Their pita breads were to fluffy and heavenly, I wish I wasn't back in the states. Most people, would probably be overwhelmed by the amount of I believe it's called, tzatziki sauce on my meal, but I felt like I was in heaven, with every bite! The little appetizer platter we got was delicious as well!

Greek Resto off Decarie not far from Namur metro. This place is consistent .. always fresh and good. The Tzatziki is like crack! Addictive and want to stop but you can't .., the awesome fries doesn't help the addiction. Marathon Salad .., the best ;) the pita chicken sandwich is my favourite. Staff is friendly and service is quick.. in house dining or take out ... you won't be disappointed.

Was in the neighbourhood and craving Greek food!! We haven't been to this marathon in years so we decided to support our fabulous local restaurant business and picked up some marathons for dinner ! Ordering procedure took place over the phone, Service was wonderful and friendly ! Very easy and quick! The lady was very sweet and made sure to get our order placed efficiently. She even gave us an estimate of how long the order would take to get ready! Pretty quick 10 min wait and boom it was ready! Food: this is one of the better marathons, the plate was jammed packed ! My donner pita was SHTUFFED with tons of flavour It was filled to the rim of the pita with tons of pork and beef shavings and Tzatziki !!! Wowowow I was in Heaven! By far one of the better donner pitas I've had! Super fresh and delicious ! Salad was super fresh as well And don't worry about the price vs quality, you will not hit the bank when you come here very affordable quick and delicious ! Overall, pretty impressed with the service food and overall quality totally recommend !

Stopped by on my visit to Montreal. The food is pretty good - the souvlaki and gyros are solid. The tzatziki sauce is great. Although the food is far from extraordinary. I've eaten at many Mediterranean/Greek restaurants which taste comparably if not better. I think this is however a solid option to scratch the itch for some souvlaki or gyros but not worth a trip across the border if you're from the USA.

Spanakopita with fries and rice plus marathon salad

My work colleagues love marathon souvlaki. The only choice I have in this restaurant is the spanakopita plate which comes with potatoes, rice and salad, since I am a pescatarian. For a lunch dish, it's super huge, and usually I eat the salad for supper. For a massive dish, it's not expensive at all. It's super tasty but little dry for me. The marathon salad is so so delicious with their marathon salad dressing. I wish they would have some fish and seafood dishes, so I can try different varieties.

I just love their Marathon's salad! Beautiful presentation and quality ingredients. My son loves the fries. Good affordable healthy food. Definitely order the Tzatziki with your bread.

Marathon Souvlaki seems to be a locally owned souvlaki restaurant with only a few locations. This Marathon is located in a shopping center near the Montreal hippodrome, among a Baton Rouge, Roots and Stitches...off of Decarie. The food is a good value. They have options of chicken or pork souvlaki, gyros, doner meat, etc. You can get one or two of each, or a combination plate with your choice of two items from a series of selections. Along with your meat choice, you have the option of rice or fries and a greek or marathon salad. They also have merguez sausages and calamari available. The portions are large, and the average price is $15 per person. Along with your meal, you will get free garlic bread. Every time we go, the service is nice (for Montreal). My only complaint is that they don't come around enough to offer refills on water. If you are in the area and hungry, or if you are looking for a good souvlaki restaurant, you need to go here, it's really good!

The Long Version: My husband and I were chilling in our hotel when my husband had a hankering for some shawarma. He didn't want to go too far, and I encouraged him to try a new-to-us place, lol. So a quick search led him to Shawarmaz. Shawarmaz is a Canadian company that started 2013 in Montreal. It has several locations but they are all in the Greater Montreal Area. My husband got the beef shawarma in a pita $9.79. They have the option of getting your shawarma in Saj bread or a baguette and those options are more expensive. He got lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, turnips and onions. For his sauces he got hummus, spicy garlic and chipotle. He enjoyed the shawarma. I had a bite so I could review it (I also went with him so I could see the restaurant and take pictures) haha. I thought it was pretty good. They give you a decent amount of protein. And the beef was flavourful and not gristly. I was surprised that the wrap was not too spicy considering the sauces he chose. The decor is fast food restaurant-like. Service was good but it did take a while for the food, although it's likely because there was a pretty long line up. Review #205 (2025)

We were confidently assured the food was completely nut-free and that extra care would be taken. However, this was not the case. My friend always tests her food first, and after a single bite, she suffered an allergic reaction. When we alerted the staff to this issue, their response was shocking. Instead of checking if she was okay, they immediately became defensive and accusatory, asking "Why do you not want to pay?". We were insulted, accused of lying, and confronted by a staff member who aggressively argued it wasn't their fault. We ultimately had to pay the bill in full for food we could not and did not eat, just so we could leave. I am shocked by such poor and defensive service. To be made to feel at fault after such a frightening and vulnerable event is completely unacceptable. To prioritize a bill over a customer's life and deny a mistake when there was an active allergic reaction is appalling and dangerous. If you have food allergies, please avoid this establishment for your own safety.

Upon entering the restaurant, I'm instantly reminded of the late nights waiting at a halal cart in nyc after a night out. This restaurant itself is not the cleanest and rather chaotic on weekend nights. Theres usually a long line to order, but it moves rather quickly and efficiently. The staff members aren't the friendliest, but they get the job done LOL. You'll find a bunch of hungry and probably drunk people sitting at the cafeteria styled seats at night. The food is the main selling point here though. I've gotten the mixed platter and shawarma platter; both with generous servings of protein all doused in a flavorful sauce. Ordered the poutine recently and was also impressed how much they loaded the protein. It was a little on the saltier side and wished they had more cheese curds, but still pretty enjoyable. The fries were also more like small potato wedges. I've recommended this place countless times for almost any point of the day, but they especially hit the spot after a long night.
