The ambiance is great for a date. If you want to hear traditional Spanish music and indulge in delicious Spanish cuisine this is the place. It's nicely tucked inside of the hotel. My date and I shared calamari for appetizer. I had the shrimp in garlic sauce with a side salad and he had the lamb chops. While the portion sizes weren't large we had just enough to satisfy us. Our waiter was kind enough to make recommendations as this was our first time. He also shared the history which we really enjoyed. Overall great date spot. read more

Food is always consistently good. The paella is outstanding. I always get mine with the works, including the lobster tail. Appetizers were also very good. The wait staff are always on top of things. It's extremely rare for me to leave a bad review, I usually don't spent my time just complaining about a restaurant but today I had one of the most awful experiences I've had with a restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the waiter who received us was rude to us since our reservation was at 4:30 and we were 6 minutes early, 6 MINUTES EARLY and we had to listen to this guy's attitude. The food itself was average at best and extremely overpriced for the quality, portions were small, especially for the soups (which are way overpriced as well). My mother asked the waiter for a children's meal for my brother, and he gave her two options, chicken fingers with French fries or spaghetti with French fries, my brother chose the latter. When my brother's spaghetti arrived it didn't include French fries, so my mother asked the waiter for them and he, very rudely, told her that the spaghetti didn't include French fries and that my mother had misunderstood him. Overall, it was a horrible experience, terrible service, average (at best) food and extremely expensive for the food/service provided. If you're looking to have a nice time with your family or special other, stay away from this restaurant. read more

Okay... so this place was incredibly busy on a Saturday night but the service and staff didn't skip a beat! .. When I say busy, I mean jammed packed and yet they managed to cater to every request with a smile. The waitstaff consisted of much older gentlemen which gave the restaurant a nice charming and welcoming feeling, although you almost feel bad because you know that they're on their feet and on the go all day long. The food itself was okay.. depending on what you got. I had the steak and lobster tail. The steak was delicious while the lobster tail was terrible. I mean, there was absolute no seasoning, not even salt. It's as if they just broiled and that was it. It was over cooked and very chewy. I thought the seabass was amazing as well as the flaming, tableside crepes. While the food and drinks probably deserves 3 stars at most, I couldn't help but to be impressed with their service. This place is very close to my house so I visit there about 2 to 3 times a year. Food is overall very good, very classic atmosphere, but the utensils I don't think it is sanitary so they need to be more Aware of keeping them clean. Every weekend they have harp player coming in and playing - it creates pretty nice atmosphere for a date night. However it gets too noisy when it gets crowded. I have tried their lobster bisque, salmon steak, meatball pasta. I think they normally do a better job in seafood dish then pasta. read more

I am a gourmet foodie. Grown up eating all kinds of international cuisine. I love authentic Spanish (from Spain) cooking and there are so few restaurants in the 5 boroughs remaining. Marbella's is a GOLD NUGGET! We came for business purposes and stayed at the Adria hotel and this was the only restaurant nearby. This restaurant was established in 1960 and still holds that traditional value of service. The waiters are dressed in traditional black tux suit style, their service is attentive and respectful, the owner greets everyone at the tables and the cuisine and preparation are sublimely elegant. Then you taste the food and the sangria and you are sent back to Spain! The paella is worth 10-fold (and you can get Valencia, seafood only or Vegetarian style)! The sangria is light, refreshing and prepared & poured in front of you. The NITELLA dessert is to DIE for! I always choose flan but rarely is this dessert offered. Select it! It's creamy and rich and a taste of heaven! Sitting there you can observe the type of clientele who arrive. They are older but faithful customers who appreciate fine cooking and have been patronizing this place for decades. My husband & I will be their new loyal patrons. You will be utterly taken in by the decor which is fresh and clean and the ambiance and then you will have a taste of their cuisine and LOVE it (that is if you love authentic Spanish cuisine). I really hate to give bad reviews but I was really disappointed in my experience. I was marveled by the decor and overall ambience of the place, which reminded of a restaurant in Spain. There was live harp music playing and everything looked great. We had traveled from flushing to check this place out and potentially hold an event here. So the thing is the dishes are pricey but I don't mind if it's delicious food. Our first tell tale sign was the coquettes that we ordered were cold in the middle, which means that they were most likely frozen. When we let them know they kindly gave us a new order. We then ordered our entrees. I had a Chilean sea bass With shrimp and my fiancé had the famous paella Valencia. After waiting for a while we finally got our entrees. First bite--my rice was hard. Secondly, the mussels were chewy. Looking across, I wasn't the only one experiencing this as the paella dish also had hard rice and chewy muddles. I wasn't happy with paying $30 for entrees that were terrible. The thing is that the service was great, just the food was not. Unfortunately I would not recommend. read more

The waiter recommended fried bananas as an appetizer but when i tried them i thought they were maybe more of a dessert item (very sweet) We enjoyed grilled calamari which was cooked perfectly and delicious. My parents wanted to eat here on Father's Day because they had a coupon that was only valid for the holiday. There were initially a couple of red flags with the restaurant: as fancy as it attempted to present itself as (and as high as the prices were) it still needed a coupon to draw customers, it was only valid for a holiday, they felt they needed a coupon for a holiday, and the coupon itself was only valid for a party of four. (Is this just a huge oversight, or are they being cheap?) We also entered the restaurant around 6pm and it was only a third to a quarter full. Although everyone there was polite (almost excessively), like with the coupon situation there were issues: service was slow (have fun with those empty water glasses), the waiters kept bumping into the back of my dad's chair as they were weaving between tables (my dad was annoyed to the point where he told us if it were just him and my mom at the restaurant he would've just stood up and left), and they hassled us hard at the end of the meal with the coupon that apparently they had no idea existed. The food was underwhelming. The lobster bisque was thin and a bit sour. The paella marinera had some bright spots (the mussels in particular, followed by the scallops and the lobster) but the rice was hard and the shrimp was dry. By no means did it justify the ~40-minute wait for the food to arrive, or the expensive price. We were all disappointed with our meals and our decision to come here, and we won't return. I was leaning between two and three stars, but at the end of the day it's our firm consensus to not return that gives this place two stars. There's a reason why the restaurant was so empty and needed a coupon. For a great seafood experience, we should've just traveled a mile to River or Mizumi. read more

Let's go on a treasure hunt. Here are the clues: It's hidden away below ground in a nondescript hotel. It's located on a main thoroughfare but cannot be seen from it. The free parking lot is around the corner and up a ramp and also can't be seen from the street so most people don't know there is one. But it serves wonderful Spanish food and provides excellent, friendly service in a relaxing atmosphere. And there's even a harpist on Saturday nights. If you guessed Marbella you're correct. If you didn't, I understand totally. Short of locating it in an abandoned subway station, the owner(s) of this establishment seem to have gone out of their way to ensure it remains a well-kept secret. And it's too bad, really. Because this place has been serving up delicious traditional Spanish dishes for years. But you could walk or drive by and never notice there's a restaurant here. The seafood is always fresh and cooked just right. Their paella dishes--there are two different kinds--are just about perfect. Even the sangria leaves nothing to be desired. Bread? Fresh, hot, crunchy. Delicious olives are complimentary. And even though the waiters are clad in tuxes, they're friendly, efficient, eager to please and are totally without pretension. And on Saturday evenings, the harpist (I think his name is Victor) entertains diners with soft, beautiful music. Whether it's the terrible economy, the hidden location, the fact that they seem to cater to an older crowd which might be dying off, the place just isn't as packed as it used to be. I think if it was located on Bell Blvd. or in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center where people could actually walk by, see it and perhaps try it--you'd have to call well in advance for a reservation. I don't think they benefit from any "impulse purchase" foot traffic whatsoever. As Yogi Berra might have said, "Ya gotta know about this place to know about this place." If you enjoy Spanish food and haven't been here, you owe it to yourself to go on a treasure hunt and find this place. Ya don't have to check in to the hotel and the food makes the hunt worthwhile 'cause Marbella is a treasure. read more

Adult family of four went on Christmas eve 2016. The atmosphere is very old school. The food and service very average. It tasted like reception food (or buffets in cruise ships). We had: Escargot: tasteless and just chewy Baby squid with tomato sauce: very simple, decent flavor--but then it's squid and tomato sauce. How can you do that wrong? Onion Soup: Tasted like any diner French onion soup. Mixed salad: average Mussels in white cream whisky sauce: it was over-cooked and the mussels were tough. The sauce was too overwhelmingly milky but had no flavor. Ossobuco: Didn't look or taste like any Osso Buco I've had before (Italian). It tasted like soupy ribs or turkey legs soaked in turkey gravy. No bone marrow--which is usually the highlight of Osso Buco.Seafood Paella: the half (baby) lobster super tiny and was basically a one bite, the rice and clams too salty, mussels and shrimp overcooked. Was hoping to get a decent Spanish/Basque meal in prep for our family's upcoming trip to Barcelona. We all left very disappointed and unsatisfied. read more

The absolute worst catering hall I have been to. The "manager" is rude and likes to blame everyone around him for what's going wrong. We had a party of about 120 people. We needed 12 tables. There were only 11 when we had all of our guest already there. We had about 15 people just standing. He than told me the people who decorated the party messed up. How ? If they're not the ones who set up the tables. The floor was dirty and the seat covers were atrocious. We gave them a specific floor plan and they didn't follow it. Never again. Horrible place. Come hungry, leave euphoric! This restaurant is located in a hotel, and from the outside, it looks dingy and not someplace that would offer anything else but a ronde-vous spot. Through a word-of-mouth referral, i was a bit skeptical to go because of any preconceived notions i had about eating in a "restaurant-in-a-hotel in queens", but they boasted how delicious the food was. Needless to say, I'm glad i went with an open mind! I called on a friday at 5:30 for an 8:30 reservation. "No problem" says the host. I was told by the friend to order the sangria ( which is made in front of you) and paella. So that's what i did, along with grilled calamari for appetizer's. The food is so fresh, and one portion of paella can feed TWO really hungry people. The price for a paella entree goes for about $22-28, but one dish can be split between two and still have left overs. The restaurant was on the emptier side for a friday night, but everyone was ordering the same thing. The paella. This is a Spanish restaurants where the everyone comes from Spain. Authentic Spanish food which is mouth-watering. There are few restaurants that still participate in flambe, and this one that does. They make the crepes in front of you, flambe style. The dessert is also very good, if there's any room left after the meal! Although, the restaurant may lack visual appeal (yet it does have a castillian ambiance), it makes up in its food. read more

Single worst restaurant experience I've ever had, and I don't say that lightly. This review is quite late but I had to get around to it because my experience here was actually horrendous. EVERYTHING was bad. The service was pitiful, the lobster tasted as if it had freezer burn, everyone's food was cold, and the lobster bisque tasted like tepid cream with a sprinkle of paprika. We saw another table behind us get up and leave and tell the server that they better not charge them for the drinks, because the service was so bad. I asked 3 different servers for the manager and every one of them refused to call the manager, one even tried to pretend that he was the manager! I literally ended up having to retrieve the manager from the back room myself. I wouldn't go back if someone paid me! I have been going here for many years. This was one of my grandfather's favorite restaurants and when you enter the place you can imagine why. Looks like it should be in a retirement home not a hotel. Also, some of the waiters are cranky and should have retired a long time ago. However, to me that is all deemed moot when you taste the food. All the paella and anything with green sauce will satisfy. Plus the free bread is amazing. Top it all off with some tableside sangria and flan and try to ignore the surroundings and service flaws and you may (with a little imagination) feel transported to Spain. read more

My husband ordered a crabmeat-stuffed lobster that was overdry, tasteless and filled with what could have been fish-flavored Stovetop. This was served with a pile of stale potato chips ... "Spanish potatoes," according to our waiter. My steak was tough, cooked to kingdom come (I'd ordered "medium") and, for whatever reason, overpoweringly salty. It was also served with potato chips. Despite all these good reviews, I will definitely NOT be eating at Marbella Restaurant again. I warn anyone even thinking about dining here to change their minds. The food here is expensive. The prices are 2 or 3 times more than those of similar local restaurants and the portions are significantly smaller than most restaurants. Needless to say, the food is merely decent. Not only is the food bland and mediocre, but it is not handled very carefully or hygienically, considering I found multiple strands of hair in my Caesar salad. Also be aware that a $5.50 "sharing" fee is added to the bill for each dish that is shared. This charge is incurred even if another person simply tastes a little bite of food other than their own dish. This fee is noted at the very bottom of the menu in a hard-to-see fine print Therefore, families or others who share entrees at restaurants can easily rack up a slew of these charges. In addition, the location is hidden from view and the sign outside is very dingy looking. There is a "specials" menu outside by the sidewalk, but don't even bother looking because those advertised prices are apparently ignored. When you go there are weekends, the manager says that the "specials" menu is only valid weekdays and when you go there on weekdays the manager could say that the menu is only valid weekends. How could this happen you might ask? This is because the "specials" menu outside does not have any mention of when it is valid or the duration of the menu. Do you know what happens when you mention the discrepancies between the advertised and billed prices? You are slapped with yet another unwarranted $5.50 fee AND you still have to pay the higher billed price. If you're at this restaurant, your best bet is to avoid complaining and leave as soon as possible. Moral of the story: Don't eat at Marbella's to avoid unnecessary stress and to avoid a hefty bill with an added sharing fee, talking fee, breathing fee, refilling water fee (You get the picture). In short, Marbella's has: - Poor Service - High Prices - Small Portions - Mediocre Food with hair and other nasty things - Surprise "Sharing" food fees - Price discrepancies in menus - Managers eager to overcharge unsuspecting customers read more

The times that I came here I had the Chorizos (they're regular sausages but they were good), Huevos Rellenos Marbella (egg stuffed with seafood - talking about this makes me want to go to the restaurant tomorrow and order an order to go), Caesar salad (they don't use Caesar dressing they use vinaigrette so I didn't like it - but if you like vinaigrette then you'll like it), Paella a La Valenciana (seafood, chicken, rice, sausage - I regret not getting it and having my boyfriend get it because it was so delicious that I had to steal some food from his plate), Ravioli (the meat one was okay but the cheese one was good - it's up to what you prefer), "Entrecote" a La Pimienta (sirloin pepper steak - I ordered this 3 times... I would go back and order it again). I wished I tried their desserts but unfortunately everytime my boyfriend and I go we were too full to order dessert. We also got the restaurant.com deal. A wonderful restaurant, especially for special events! My good friend had an event there and Renee took great care of all the details. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious- especially their paella! A waiter named Jorge was very attentive and everyone on staff made sure that everything was perfect! My family and I came here for a Saturday dinner so my review is base on my experience when we walked in we were well greeted,the place is lovely and we enjoy the beautiful sound of someone playing the harp. Marbella Restaurant is a slice of the old world. They serve traditional, authentic Spanish Mediterranean cuisines made to order. Our first appetizer was called Chiporenes. Grilled Calamari tossed in an Iberian Olive Oil served with a spicy Fra Diavolo sauce. We also enjoyed the Avocado stuffed with seafood. I hate using certain types of terms but it is the best way to describe it. OMG it was amazing. The dressing was a light citrus and not overpowering. The seafood was fresh and presentation impeccable. It could have been dinner by itself. The Piéce de Résistance was Paella Valenciana. The rice had a beautiful sticky quality mixed with pork, shrimp, lobster tails, scallops and other shellfish. Just an amazing combination. We paired the paella with a sweet sangria. To our surprise the suited waiter brought a ceramic pitcher, filled it to our specifications and served. They made it tableside! Great touch. For desert (what's dinner without it) we had a decedent custard filled crepe. They flambéed citrus with Grand Marnier and drizzled the syrupy mixture over the crepe and vanilla ice cream. The flambé was once again done tableside. It was like dinner and a show. read more
