Just don't. Horrible customer service. They also have no idea what's going on. Called to ask for any specials and was told they don't have any. But the website says they have happy hour. Went in but one of us had a baby and they denied us service! They refused to seat us at the bar which is part of the happy hour. I mean, what baby is drinking at the bar?!!! Incredibly silly and unprofessional. Fine they don't want to seat the group at the bar because of a baby, at least offer the happy hour at the table that we were forced to sit at. No they didn't. We left. This isn't how you treat customers. People go out to eat to relax and have a good time. There are plenty of restaurants nearby with warm ambiance and great food options. This place was not it. I bet the food is probably horrible, hence the happy hour to get people in the door. Bad staff. Bad place. Go somewhere that cares for their customers. read more

One of my new favorite places. The food here is absolutely delicious from the appetizer to the main course to the desert to the coffee is absolutely delicious. The service here is excellent the ambience excellent. I do not know if the woman who took care of us was the owner? I think she was but she was so sweet. The only thing I did not like was the Horchata and I love Horchata. It was more watery and tasted like it was imitation Horchata. But other than that, I would 100% come back. It is a little pricing, but it's OK. The food is so worth it. read more

Mama Rosa offers a fun and relaxed vibe. Full bar with seating available on one side and they separate that space from the main dining room. This way you can enjoy your experience the way you want. The dining room is well lit and it's an open space. Great for groups and date nights. There's definitely a nice distance between tables to give you a more private dining experience. The staff here are all smiles when they come by to greet you, check in and take your food/drink order. Everyone was nice and each person offered great suggestions when I inquired about specific items. It was helpful as that made my decision making easier. Onto the food: we were a group of four so plenty of stuff ordered. For starters: guacamole of course and it's prepared table side. It was a full on cart service display with all of the ingredients in compartments. Spice level customized to your taste and the fresh lime gave us extra acidity and flavor. It was a fun presentation. We also ordered the fundido. That was the favorite at the table. For entrees: cheese quesadilla (super plain as requested, I got a picky eater here), the steak with chimichurri, seafood paella, rice and beans and a mixed plate of steak and pork variety. My family and I enjoyed everything and had a relaxed time just enjoying ourselves. My margarita was really good with the black pepper rim. And tres leches dessert for the win! read more

Came here to an empty restaurant on a January weekday evening. We had groupons but was given problems redeeming since we had no reservations, despite having confirmation from the Mgr early on. It was finally resolved but after some commotion but was embarrassing and unprofessional and needless esp since the entire restaurant was empty. Then they limited the salsa even tho several of us had separate groupons for our separate meals. Anyway, very unwise and terrible customer service. The whole pt of groupons is to try to entice new customers. It was really bad form. Edp since one ofbus is a frequent diner here and recommended this place. Additionally. There were separate menus for single people vs couples. WTH???? Re the apps, The Empanadas tasted prefrozen and tasteless. However the ceviche was nicely presented and delicious altho it had canned shrimp So finally, despite the initial snafu and so so apps, and wierd descrimination against single diners, the entrees were pretty good 3-4 rating. The fajitas were tender and delish. The desserts were really good esp the strawberry icecream. So, subce the food was really good, Id entertain another visit. This place looks like it can be a fun hopping place on the weekend. We came in on a Thursday evening and the place was empty. We expected it to be full at 7-9pm. Hopefully the snow drove people away not something else. The place was decorated with colorful doilies across the ceiling. . They had native costumes hanging off one wall. The bar was off to one side. We came in with a coupon so our food selection was limited to the prefixed menu but we enjoyed what was on it. The ceviche was delicious. The empanadas were not as expected. (Greasy and small.) The steak fajita was tasty. Liked the fixings. The carnitas de puerco was tender but the flavor did not wow me. Sadly they did not serve the entrees with the rice and beans or salad. Missing one of the sauces too. Pay attention that all the items of your entrees are there. For dessert we had the flan and tres leche with coffee. It was a big hit. Topped the meal off and we left happy!!! Definitely worth another visit! read more

Went here for lunch today. Spacious with lots of seating and a nice bar. The food was absolutely outstanding. Authentic Mexican, not Tex-Mex as many restaurants around seem to be. To start the salsa was out of this world and definitely get the guacamole app. The waiter makes it to your taste right in front of you at table side. For mains we got the paella and carnitas with their house mole sauce. Both were fantastic and the mole is one of the best I've ever had. No joke. I slipped and ended up with mole all over my shirt right when we started our meal. I went to the waiter and he immediately saw my predicament. He got some seltzer for me to try to get the sauce off but the damage was done. So he did something that I've never seen before...got went and got me a brand new white tshirt and graciously gave it to me to wear. I was so thankful. We needed a nice Mexican restaurant in the area rather than all the self serve taco places springing up all over Long Island. Mama Rosa is a good one! They offer authentic Mexican fare in a pretty and spacious dining area. Waiters are attentive and portions are plentiful. My husband ordered steak fajitas which were the best we have had! It had a unique and delicious marinade. The enchiladas were not as good as I had hoped but we will be back and I will choose a different dish. read more

Went with a group to Mama Rosa's last night for dinner and to catch the new Friday night Spanglish karaoke. The margaritas were fantastic and our meals were delicious. I had the taquitos with chicken. They were very good. The chicken was tender and the meal was very tasty. My friend had the chicken Mole. She indicated that she's traveled all over Mexico and never had such a great chicken mole dish. The fried ice cream was decadent. The karaoke, which started at nine, was a lot of fun! There were songs sung both in English and in Spanish. There was actually some really good talent and the host / DJ kept the party going. I am definitely going back to Mama Rosa's for an authentic Mexican meal. I'll also plan to go back on Friday nights for the karaoke. read more

Sunday night I went to Mama Rosa and the service was disappointing. When I went there, as I was about to be finished with my entree the servers didn't give me any heads up to tell me that they believe that I won't be able to get dessert. That the kitchen is closing. Told them I want to have dessert. One of them I said when I gave my order at the start, I said that's it for now. This being that I was planning to have dessert. Told them that had you told me at some point that the kitchen is closing soon I would've definitely given you my order for dessert immediately. I really want the dessert and I'm willing to pay for everything right away to speed things up. After all of this, one of them tells me that I'd only be able to get the dessert to take out. Told him I'm already here dining in so let me finish here with the dessert. I deserve at least that for the fact that I wasn't given a heads up in advance. After all the discussion they had with the manager which I was believing they'd work something out regarding this inconvenience, it appears nothing came out of it. The manager came talking to me telling me that I'd only be able to take the dessert out. Told her I wasn't told in advance that the kitchen was closing soon. Otherwise, I would've given my order right away that I want the dessert. She says we have to clean up I have to pay my employees and the rent here. The amount of the dessert is only four dollars which isn't worth all that. What does that have to do with any of this? I wasn't given the heads up that the kitchen was closing soon so I could give my order or at least have the decency to tell me at the start that to dine-in the kitchen might close before I could get a chance to have a dessert. So don't be surprised if the kitchen won't be able to give you dessert if you want any. Told the manager I'm willing to pay everything to speed everything up. She said you can only have dessert to take out. I paid the bill to speed things up believing I was getting the dessert to take out despite I wanted to eat it dining in being that you're not able to compare eating something while dining in compared to getting it to take out. After paying the bill, quite a few minutes later the manager goes to me asking why are you still waiting here are you planning to stay here. Told her I don't have residency here. I'm waiting for the dessert to take out. She said you didn't want it. The kitchen's closed. Told her you told me that I could get the dessert to take out. This is why I'm still waiting. You mentioned I could get it to take out. Then she said I'm not going to argue about it. I asked what argument. You told me that I could get a dessert to take out and that's what I'm waiting for. Now suddenly she's trying to walk it back instead of owning up to it that she messed up. This manager didn't do the one thing from all of this which is to ask do I still want the dessert to take out which I would've said yes. It's a disgrace how she handled this inconvenient situation. Told her before I left the place that you lack communication and life is about being on the same page. I looked on my bill of the customer copy to see that I wasn't charged for dessert and it doesn't mention specifically which things I was charged for. Hate when restaurants don't include on the receipt what specifically I paid for. This isn't right that they didn't give me a heads up at the start that if I dine-in I might not be able to get dessert later or have to only take it out this way we don't arrive at this predicament. I ordered take out here today. My Lord. This was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had here in NY. I had the pork with the mole, yellow rice, beans, tacos, church's. The pork was so tender and the mole was authentic and simply amazing. My wife and I will definitely be back. Next time we will dine in. The place looked nice and clean with great vibes. Happy hour here is a great deal! Sit at the bar with good priced drinks and appetizers. The regular food is fine. The price is typical for the area. This place tends to be empty and I don't know why. I go when the mariachi band isn't there because it's so loud and I don't want anyone right next to me while eating. I have to say the margarita flight it was like all 4 the same margarita with just a different juice or syrup on top. I was hoping to actually get different margaritas. Not worth the price. Just get a margarita during happy hour. Hopefully they become more popular! read more

Same review I left on Google a year ago. I've eaten here about 8 times since and here today. It has never disappointed. Steak fajitas again! Seafood is great too. Whether you live in great neck or surrounding areas, I definitely recommend Mama Rosa. At least based upon my first visit and the food I ordered. I ordered the sampler platter and sizzling steak fajitas. The steak comes on a sizzling platter and is delicious. The sampler platter can easily feed 3 adults. The Maduros the fajitas came with have the right amounts of crunch and made well. The food came out within 10 mins of ordering but we did go there at 3:30 PM on a Saturday. It's much better than the place that was here previously, I think Senor Taco or something like that. Good portions and fair price. read more

On our first visit there earlier today, my wife & I just had a delicious lunch! The chicken soup was SO flavorful and hearty! The tasty paella was chock full of mussels, clams, shrimp & chorizo. The quesadilla & shrimp fajita were also finger-licking good food and the side dishes were also plentiful & yummy. And we washed this all down with a scrumptious Sangria. Finally visited to have dinner on a Saturday night with a party of four. First, my apologies to the restaurant owner for not getting to your lovely place sooner. I am a 23+ year resident of Great Neck always excited to see excellent new restaurants open. Mama Rosa is a pretty space with cordial polite service, very good food, a wide variety of choices and reasonable prices. Also has a great cocktail menu. The only disappointment was it was mostly empty at 7:30 on a Saturday night but this seems to be pretty typical of all of Great Neck. The food and service was decent BUT THE INSANELY LOUD MARIACHI BAND was such an assault. We were a party of three and we were completely unable to have a conversation. We asked if they would be kind enough to lower the volume a bit and they ignored our requests. We all left with pounding headaches.
