I always admired the tote bag and it was by chance that fellow dog mom and Yelpie Lily mentioned that Marc Jacobs will be having a live painting event featuring a local artist with a bag purchase. As I was already familiar with the artist, Maili Nina, who previously did an amazing watercolor piece of my dogs for me, I figure this would be the chance to get her amazing work on the tote bag! This was also a perfect opportunity because I wanted to commemorate my favorite fur child Bruno, who recently passed.
Because the live painting event was reservations based, Lily suggested to check out the bags before the event date. Choosing the right tote was a task, but the staff there were so helpful and so kind. They were very knowledgeable what bags would work for the painting and answered any questions when it came to caring for the bag and the price points. With their help along side Lily's input, I opted for the small leather tote in cement and I couldn't have been happier with my selection. Thanks to the Marc Jacobs staff, I was able to schedule a reservation for the live painting and place the bag on hold so that the artist would be ready to paint on that day. Some customers however, were able to purchase a bag on that day of the event and pick it up a few days after for the final reveal.
Maili (the artist) was incredibly kind and took her time painting Bruno's face with his signature glasses as she knew him (and of his passing) and how much he meant to me. Though the live painting was limited to 30 minutes per bag purchase, she asked if she could take the bag back to her studio to finish it off and I agreed without any hesitation.
A few days passed and I received the call that my tote was ready for pick up. The staff there greeted me like friends that I haven't seen in ages and showed me the final masterpiece. I was in awe on how beautiful it came out.
Thank you Maili and the Marc Jacobs team for the great service and memorable experience. read more
