It was only five dollars a person to get in for the day. The main office was very clean and organized and the bathrooms were clean and we also purchased a few keepsakes. I am not an RVer but they have lots of nice shady spots. Some that are pull through and some you have to back into. It looked like all of the spots had a gazebo type cover. They also have cabins you can rent out; some thing my wife and I discussed for the future. It was very quiet and covered in a lot of trees and seemed like a very nice place to camp. As we drove out, we had the unexpected surprise of seeing 3 deer in one spot and two more in another.

Some moments in nature are too precious to recount - too difficult to write into a review. If you live in the city like I do, these moments are a much-needed fuel - so rich and refreshing!! Based on this second experience at Cooper Lake State Park - South Sulfur Unit, I HIGHLY recommend an overnight cabin stay! **Cabins can be booked a maximum of three months in advance.** Equipped with full restrooms including powerful, hot showers, two full beds (must bring own linens for all needs), a futon, 4-top table and chairs, 3/4 fridge/freezer combo, drip coffee maker, stove top with two heating elements, AC and heat, a back balcony with grill and picnic table, and a lakeside fire pit, we wanted for NOTHING and ENJOYED IT ALL!

I knew I wanted something unique. Something close to where we were based in Texas.Something affordable and something that we could both appreciate. Que Hidden Grove Resort ticking each and every one of those boxes! Hidden Grove offers modern, tiny houses where you can unplug and immerse yourself in nature. The perfect detox from inboxes, deadlines, bills and every other worry that may consume your regular day-to-day. Take a break from the hustle and bustle, technology and obligations. Here you can completely detach and let yourself be surrounded by remarkably quiet tranquility. A beautiful space to reinvigorate your creativity and feel refreshed when you return home. Exactly what Jay and I needed in both of our lives. Time to remove ourselves from all of our worries and get wrapped up in one another in a tiny cabin for a few days. Sounds like the perfect romantic getaway I was looking for! The fun retro design of the space really caught my eye. The quality of the builder was top notch. Attention to detail was obvious as we entered the tiny house. Aesthetically pleasing was a must for both of us as Jay designs websites and I studied interior design. We have pretty high standards. We enjoyed hiking trails through the woods and along the railroad tracks that were not in use any longer. The temperatures in October were unusually high around 90 degrees but the shade of the trees made our hikes a real treat. We grabbed takeout from Bonham one evening and dined in Paris another. With a small kitchen, the rest of our meals were easy to prepare there. The pool looked inviting but we chose to go get target practice in. Next trip we will definitely need to get swimming in. Ending our time by a campfire was the perfect end to our relaxing weekend.

A week before we arrived, I called to let them know that we were bringing a 10lb chihuahua mix. The girl on the phone went over the pet policy, which was pretty standard and understandable. About three days before we were supposed to arrive, my boyfriend wanted us to get there a day early so I called Pope's Landing to see if we could get the cabin a day earlier than planned. The girl told me that they were booked and completely busy, etc. No big deal since I knew it was relatively last minute so I wasn't expecting a "yes". We arrived on Saturday afternoon. The place was pretty empty. I saw one couple walking their dog and a family fishing nearby. I asked the woman behind the counter if they had been busy and she said no. Kind of odd since I got the exact opposite information two days before, so this kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Whatever, no big deal. The woman helped me with finding a restaurant for dinner and the nearest grocery store to pick up some snacks and I was able to rent a boat slip for $10 a night. The cabins look exactly like the pictures. This is a good thing, in my opinion. You get what you see. The floors and sheets were clean, I'm pretty low maintenance so it doesn't take much to please me. The cabin had a full kitchen: microwave, oven, fridge, a grill and fire pit out front, and even dishes and silverware if you're planning on cooking. The WiFi was a little spotty, but the woman at the front desk warned me about that, so at least I got a warning? Besides, we spent most of the weekend boating and fishing. The cabin had Dish/Satellite TV. The TV channels in white were the ones that worked/have access to. I was told that housekeeping would come in the next day to replace our sheets, but they didn't come in until late afternoon. My dog liked the lake and I had to give her a bath. I used a towel to get the dirt off the dog. Housekeeping assumed the dirty towel was because my dog had an accident. I told them that I had to clean the dog. They charged me $250 for the cleaning fee. I'd think that the housekeeping wouldn't know the difference between dog accidents because of the smell of dog waste, but I'm sure they'll believe the opinion of their cleaning crew over my truth. I'd probably lodge here again, if we were to visit Lake Fork again, but mostly because there aren't that many options for lodging. As nice as the place was, I kind of expected more. I guess I wished I had a more pleasant or more welcoming experience..?
