However, having always had something special going for it,the north Texas growth has breathed new life into this 10 square mile area formerly " historic" McKinney. This little lake created by forward thinking city planners is more and more a community gathering point. Just to the west is a full blown Frisbee golf course, hiking/biking trails and more. I just discovered a new addition today. A lighted walk,with music,to enjoy after dark I'll be back.

Very well maintained park , nice concrete pathway for walking & jogging. Saw many people who came early morning for fishing. It's a huge layout so didn't feel rushed every one was enjoying walking or jogging at their own pace. Ample seats for taking breaks or enjoying nature. Loved the vibe here all locals coming for walks , children enjoying parks & slides , enjoyed watching birds, turtles, fishes. There is ample parking place around the park & very well connected to all the local roads & highways.

It was nice that the park had a lot of paved roads because the snow/ice melting that day left the grass pretty muddy. The park was pretty clean for the most part. This place is really cool…read more We drove 45 minutes to get here and we definitely looked lost. A kind gentleman on a bike helped us out. There is a trail at first for the bikes and hikers and than it splits. Hikers go to the left, bikers to the right. Just be aware of each other and all is good. Hikers make sure to step aside for the bikers, harder for them to slow down and pick up their momentum again. Seeing how this was my first hike and I'm a big girl who lost some weight, I did the littlest trail first. Only took me 25 minutes. Worked out my heart though. They also have a place where kids could do bikes on hills. Does that make sense lol Cool place over all ! Will be back.

In short, it is a great neighborhood park in the 75094 zip code area. It was updated and improved in 2010. The park has a brick gazebo pavilion with four 8-foot long picnic tables, a large BBQ grill and electric outlets. Be sure to check out the shaded playground area, sandy volleyball court, drinking water fountain, 31 trees, basketball court and lots of benches scattered around and one picnic table by the volleyball court. For dog walkers like myself, bikers, joggers and fur baby owners there is a 0.2 mile cement trail loop for lots of fun and exercise. Thinking about moving to the Aviary Subdivision in Murphy, Texas? Well, it is a creek trail so there has to be bugs right but anyways, they have so many trails But my grandpa and I don't take off course trails because we just don't want to. We don't have any reason for, but we just don't want to. But it's so good looking lots of different species. I've actually saw species type of bug there. It was so beautiful. I even had a butterfly land on me one time I didn't want to move or scare away because it was so pretty.

We walked off the paved paths and ended up lost in the middle of the forest but it was fun being surrounded by nature. If you walk on the paved path, then it'll loop around the entire park. The nature trails had some dead ends which sucks because we were hoping it would connect back to the main path somehow. The only surprising thing is the limited parking spot available. There's only one small parking lot with 7 SPOTS available for the park, and they were all taken by others. We had to park our cars at Chick-fil-a and walked across the street just to get to the park.
