When traveling to Mexico, Italian food isn't necessarily the cuisine that comes to mind. That said, I was very impressed by Sabrosa. The group I traveled with comes to this restaurant every time they visit puerto Vallarta and it did not disappoint. Everything is homemade and made from the heart. We loved the burrata and salmon appetizer, the antipasto went quick, and the lasagna was a must-order. Everything was phenomenal including the desserts (we ordered one of each). My favorite dishes were the burrata and salmon crostini, the spinach and ricotta ravioli, and the tiramisu. The owners (chef and waiter) are incredible and made us feel like family. Food was excellent and service was good. Wish there was more of an Italian atmosphere and perhaps a complementary limoncello after dinner. No typical basket of Italian bread with oil and balsamic. But it still was very good. read more

Small very homey feeling but absolutely above and beyond experience. The food - homemade pasta is absolutely wonderful, not too soft or too hard. Gnocchi was soft and pillowy, easy bite with a really really nice sauce. Shrimp was cut into bite sized pieces which made it easier to eat with the pasta. Ravioli was perfect, not soft or soggy like some ravioli are. Went really well with the sauce and a good portion too! Spaghetti like pasta was also very good, a very olive-y flavor with olives as well as olive oil. A little on the saltier side from the capers, but definitely delicious. Would recommend any of these dishes. The appetizers of bruschetta and caprese were very fresh tasting. Caprese came with slices of bread to enjoy with and was well seasoned while still keeping to the flavors that you look for. Bruschetta was really good, even for someone like me who isn't that into tomatoes. Finally, the panna cottas were a beautifully creamy texture and the flavors were great! The coffee was strong in the coffee one and the bites of blueberry with the blueberry one was excellent. Besides the food, the owner was wonderful and very kind. He was very attentive and recited the whole menu detail for us, which helped us know what we wanted and what we didn't. He and his wife came from Italy - his wife cooks in the back. Now the real kicker, we tried for like an hour to get a taxi or an Uber - the owner even called the taxi place to try to get us a taxi but they didn't answer. He also called our resort to try to get us a taxi but they said they didn't have any and hung up. He spent a lot of time trying to get us a ride while we tried to get an Uber and right when our Uber arrived the driver cancelled on us. We ended up waiting at the restaurant for them to close (it was close to closing anyways) and then the owner took us home. A very kind thing to do that he didn't have to and we will be returning soon. Definitely check this place out if you're looking to feel like the staff really cares about how your experience is and also if you're looking for amazing and authentic Italian food. If you are in the area, definitely need to make a trip here. We were craving something a little different and decided to come here, and boy were we glad we did because as strange as it sounds, this was one of our best meals during our week stay in Nuevo Vallarta. This family owned restaurant is a gem and they treat you like family as soon as you walk in. The owner walks you through the whole menu and you can just tell they're passionate about what they're serving. Order a bottle (or 2!) of wine and settle in for a fantastic meal - the homemade pastas and sauces are phenomenal. The tagliatelle with panna, proscuitto, and funghi sauce was my personal favorite - creamy and flavorful, but not too rich or dense... kept me coming back for more! My fellow diners loved the gnocchi with the sausage sauce of the day and the ravioli al ragu. Sadly, we didn't get to try the panna cotta, which looked amazing.. but we did get to have the tiramisu and chocolate mousse, paired with moretta fanese. I called and made a reservation and go back at least once a month when I'm in Mexico. These owners are expat Italian so the homemade pasta and sauces are very authentic and made with love. Our friends who spend the winter here took us to this little gem of a restaurant where we had the best meal in our three weeks in Nuevo Vallarta. We were greeted by the personable owner Enrico, who obviously loves food and wine and people. We ordered a nice montepulciano d'abruzzo from the very limited wine list. We started with a fabulous antipasto platter with mortadella, salami, prosciutto, an assortment of excellent cheeses etc. Very nice! Everyone loved their pasta dishes, but there is no doubt I was lucky to have accepted Enrico's recommendation to try the gnocchi. I generally find gnocchi to be a bit doughy.....but this was the lightest, fluffiest, tastiest gnocchi you could imagine. It is hand made by Enrico's wife and it is the best gnocchi I've ever had. The mushroom and sausage sauce was fabulous! Everyone sampled it and agreed that no matter how good theirs was, mine was better. We finished with the panacotta and tiramisu for desert, complemented by espressos. This is a small, family run restaurant with a limited menu, and wine list, but everything they do is exceptional. It is well worth the effort to find it. You will not be disappointed, and like me, will be looking forward to your return. And by the way, prices are very reasonable, Grazia Enrico! read more

This is a great little Italian restaurant just off Valle Dorado. It is owned by a family who moved here from Italy about 4 years ago. Mom cooks, dad runs the front and the kids serve. Most of the pastas are homemade, as are all the sauces. Very authentic! We shared an amazing caprese appetizer, then had spinach ravioli with ragu sauce, and tagliatelle with prosciutto and funghi. It was all delicious and we were quite full but we couldn't resist having dessert. The tiramisu was incredible! We called in an order to pick up and take home very late on a Saturday not realizing the restaurant was closing soon, however despite this the family took our large order and prepared it with the same care I would imagine they would anytime else. The gentleman at the front was very nice and offered us drink while we waited for our food. We brought our meals home and all of them were delicious! A family run business I can't say enough about. 4 of us all had meals that we enjoyed if they where closer to the resorts the prices would have been 4 times the price.
