Dr. Ortega and his team provide excellent dental care. He is thorough as can be and very responsive to any questions you may have. He also keeps it real and tells you whether a procedure is worth it or not. The hygienists do great cleanings and are attentive to following Dr. Ortega's care plans. This review is overdue. I recommend Dr. Ortega with highest enthusiasm. Our family has been seeing him for about 2 decades. During that time, he has been the dentist of choice for me, my mother, my husband, our daughter, our grandson, and friends. Would have been more if we had a larger family! In addition to fillings and crowns, he has replaced faulty crowns (installed by others), done teeth whitening, dental surgery, installed veneers, monitored night guards, etc.. That said, he doesn't hesitate to refer, as he deems appropriate, dental surgeon, specialists for implants, root canal, gum issues. I have 2 dental implants. The first was done by a top implant specialist. Didn't turn out that well. Dr. Ortega did the second, which is doing just fine. He is a perfectionist. When crowns come back from labs, he'll send them to be redone if they are not just right. Let's address pain. Dr. Ortega is vigilant about watching for signs of discomfort as he works and adjusts accordingly. One more thing. I don't tolerate most pain meds. Five stars for ease of appointment and the admin/office staff! Paid parking or street parking available. The admin was lovely. She makes you comfortable. The dental assistant/hygienist (I'm not sure) was great also. Connected with me on NC, however, my issue was beyond what the doctor could treat outside of an prescription, sadly. I often feel that dentist will not comment on others work whether questionable or not. The dentist questions made me think that something was not done correctly. But alas I'll never know. From the first time I called and Julie helped me, I was set at ease. Dr Ortega and his staff are straight forward, efficient, and really make the experience easy. Denise did my deep cleaning, and she was excellent at her job. I fall into the category of people who hate going to the dentist. I have to be sedated for any kind of work to be done. Dr.Ortega and everyone on his staff have always been wonderful. Everyone at the office makes me feel comfortable. Everyone is friendly and knows what they are doing. I've been going to Dr.Ortega for over 20 years and I've never come across an idiot working there. That's saying a lot because there are idiots everywhere. Dr.Ortega is on the expensive side but WORTH EVERY FUCKING PENNY!!! And I don't make a lot of money so don't think that I'm rolling in the dough and the price doesn't matter to me. There are not enough good things I can say about this practice. I just had moved to San Diego from Orange county. My dentist there was finishing up doing a crown when he went on his honeymoon to Italy leaving me with a temporary that promptly broke. I was in major pain without options. Very easy to make an appointment through phone and the people that work there are always ~very nice and friendly . My third time going! No wait what so ever....Had X-ray done and cleaning don't have dental insurance and it hurts to go back in my pocket. Since I pay like $300 for my visit.. Went in for my appointment at 11 and had to bring my son with me. Everyone was super sweet and nice and the front desk watched him while I got my X-rays. The only bad thing is that this time the dentist didn't come see me after my cleaning to hear any concerns or tell me anything. Since he was with another patient..Bummed out since I could of just got it out of the way, but had to leave no time to wait. But overall this is a great dentist and place!!! The lady that did my cleaning went out of her way to make me feel very comfortable and calm... Don't like any pain and they always make sure of it it!!!! I love it!!!! He has performed complex treatments, referred me to excellent specialists, and his hygienists have cleaned my teeth better than any office I've been to. I appreciate this that his office is run in a timely and smooth manner! His demeanor is calm, friendly and I am thankful that he "gets in and gets out!" My most recent visit was an emergency, under COVID-19 rules. His staff employed all protocols for safety and a few extra that were explained to me.
