We periodically visit the American Dream, and we always like to try something new when we do. The mall features some nice food options as compared to other malls in the area. We have been meaning to try Marcus Live for some time and got the chance today. We arrived early, so seating was ample. It is a comfortable place to be, with good music, rock and roll memorabilia, and a warm ambiance. Service was kind, attentive, prompt, and efficient. Entire space was spotlessly clean and well-kept. My other half and I each opted for the double smash burger and truffle fries. Fries were excellent: crispy, well-seasoned, not greasy, and flavorful. The burgers were juicy, flavorful, and bacon and onions were cooked perfectly. I wished I had a second one. Is it the best burger I've had? Honestly, no. But it's up there for sure. I enjoyed it enough for it to make me go back, which says a lot. Overall, a very nice experience. Will definitely return. read more

Came here for lunch on a Sunday with a large group of 10 because Yard House was packed and we were too hungry to wait 45 minutes for a table there. This place had plenty of empty seats so we were able to get seated quickly. They asked if we wanted the tables combined and we said sure, and they combined it into... an L shape...?? How strange haha there was definitely enough room to keep them straight. We were there to celebrate someone's birthday so we made the birthday girl sit in the crook of the L so she could swivel and talk to everyone lol. I ordered the B&G prime burger and I think the waitress was confused because she said it was a smash burger and would come with crispy onions... the patties were definitely not smashed and there were no onions at all. I think she was thinking of the double smash burger. The patties were also not seasoned properly, so it tasted bland to me and there wasn't that nice crust the seasoning would have formed (iykyk). We also got the cornbread as an app, which was good, especially with the honey butter and the jam it came with, but it was really small and not worth the $12 at all. They were also out of several items like the deviled eggs, NY strip, and grilled branzino. I don't know how common it is for restaurants to run out of menu items so early in the day (it was like 2pm) but just something to note. Although our server was nice and I'm glad we were able to get seated right away, I probably won't come back here. The food is just average and portions are too small for the price. Finally made it to this restaurant. Owned by one of my fav celebrity chefs, chef Marcus! This space is really nice!! Located on the 2nd flr in American Dream mall. It gives vaca vibes! I love the colors and decor. One of the coolest touches are the vinyl album covers of the counties top music artist adorning the walls. Now getting to the menu, its small but has some tasty sounding options. If your a wing fan they have u covered. I ordered the fried Catfish with the veggie fried rice. It was perfectly seasoned and so light. Not at all greasy or heavy. For the price $35+ i would have like two pieces of Catfish but it wasnt a deal breaker. A must try is their cornbread!!! At first glance it just looks ok and cutting into it i felt it was going to be stale and hard but nooooo It was sooo good!!! U could tell it was homemade. They give u butter and homemade jam on the side. I almost ordered another!! It was that good!!! Fried fish and cornbread is the perfect combo if i know u know lol. If i could say one thing i didnt love was the fact they had no happy hour menu for afterwork crowd and no specials. That goes a long way with speciality restaurants!!! Went for lunch on a trip to American Dream. Should have figured out by how empty it was why we should have chosen a different establishment. First, the servers were lovely. Kind and sweet and very hospitable. The food served however, was of the lowest quality. For context, we ordered chicken sandwiches. Pretty simple. Just a spicy chicken sandwich. The meat was gray. Absolutely awful experience. My girlfriend and I went to Marcus Bar & Grill for a date, and the food completely ruined the night. We ordered our food and somehow it was sitting in front of us in LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES. That immediately raised questions about how freshly prepared any of it actually was. The chicken sandwich wasn't even properly hot, and the fries tasted like cardboard. For food coming out that ridiculously fast, you'd at least expect it to taste good. It didn't. The worst part came afterward: both my girlfriend and I became sick and threw up after eating there. I'm not claiming to know exactly what caused it, but considering we both felt sick after the meal, that made an already terrible experience even more concerning. I will give credit where it's due: our waiter was nice and treated us well. Unfortunately, good service couldn't make up for food that was genuinely awful. When two people go out for a date, pay restaurant prices, receive disappointing food in under five minutes, and then both end up throwing up afterward, something is seriously wrong with that experience. if I could give this place zero stars I would One star is being generous! read more

I took my extended family here for my son's birthday outing at the end of a Saturday American Dream excursion. It was one of the few places that didn't have a wait, which was probably a hint but we were hungry and tired. Our server put on a good face but was visibly tired. It made any extra requests on our part feel like we were bothering him. Having worked in the food service industry I was able to extend him some grace, but my family was annoyed. We ordered a Cesar salad, wings, pumpkin soup, fish tacos and a few other items. Everything was just ok. The dressing on the salad was thin and tasteless, despite the ample amount of Parmesan cheese and croutons that it contained. The wings were tasty. The crispy fish tacos were soggy. The soup was good. The pizza didn't get finished. The place itself is very nice and comfortable. But our overall experience was just ok, although the prices are on the higher end of things. If you're ordering apps to share, be aware that you may need multiple orders as the servings are not conducive to large groups for everything. We anticipated it would be pricy due to its location. Upon entering we were seated in a preferred area as we wanted to watch the football game. We did have to ask a few times to get the TV channel changed. This was a Sunday around 2:40pm ish. The restaurant wasn't packed but parties were seated throughout. Our server Tearia was also the bartender. I did have to reminder her about water but she let us know that she was on double duty and we could definitely tell she was busy at certain points. The MAIN reason I'm not doing 5 stars is because when we attempted to order the calamari appetizer and branzino entree we were told it was out of stock. It would've been best to know before hand because we were set on those dishes. But with Tearia's suggestions we pivoted. The wings were phenomenal, we did the everything sauce fried hard. 10/10, no notes, thanks Tearia! My lamb chops were cooked perfectly but I feel for a $45 the dish it should've came with more of the puree underneath (I didn't feel like I had a side). Now normally we have to instruct restaurants to cook our catfish well/fried hard but Tearia recommended we leave it as is. It was fried perfectly and delicious. We did say we wished it came with 2 pieces of fish. The vegetable fried rice was also flavorful but had a lot of mushrooms (we aren't fans). 6/14/25 (Update) We stopped in for dinner. The Hostess said it would be a 15 minute wait. We received a text exactly 15 minutes later. We were escorted to a table. Our friendly server was Rosemary. She took our order. I started out with a '22 Cab. Sauvignon in Sheep's Clothing. Thought the wine was very good. We ordered a Cali Crunch Salad and a Chicken Crunch Sandwich. The chicken tasted like it was probably sitting for a while. The sandwich came with fries. Unfortunately the fries were cold. Both entrées were just okay. We've had much better food here. Stopping by for a quick bite after Al Roker's book signing and chili presentation, trying the famous cornbread, and wings. I highly recommend both! Bar & Grill for participating in the Yelp Elite Squad (YES) Allstar experience and allowing us to visit this upscale and luxurious diner although we went casual because of the YELP event. The All Stars had the opportunity to taste an appetizer up to $20. I purchased a cornbread which was OH SO GOOD, to compliment the cornbread some type of cherry marmalade and butter to top it off. I would comeback only to eat this appetizer. If an appetizer brings a customer back, they are doing something right. The BBQ wings were big and juicy a little spicey, could definitely taste pepper unless that was just my taste buds. They did offer sparkling water. The water was the highlight as I tasted it first. WOW! This crisp effervescent beverage was dynamite, and it was very cold. I think the temperature played a pertinent part in the taste. Our Server Lavendar! Was fantastic! And checked in on us throughout our dinner. She knew the menu well! and made recommendations! Loved the Pretty in Pink cocktail she recommended! Decided to dine here after Al Roker's cooking demo/meet & greet. We sat at the bar as they were having a happy hour special for the event. I didn't do the happy hour special, but instead ordered from the three course menu, and went with the cornbread, prime burger, and the raspberry cheesecake. Everyone was starving from walking so we drop in this spot. The first plus short wait time and plenty of space. There a a lot of food choices. We kicked the table off with M's cornbread....save your waiter time and order two, it's that good. The deviled eggs were decent, I've had better. They (deviled eggs) could use a little more love. We had a fairly interesting and disappointing experience here recently during their special holiday breakfast buffet event with Shrek. The good - the food here was above average and the deviled eggs were particularly solid. Most of the buffet options were based off of some of their popular menu items so it was nice to get a good variety/sample of what they offered. The dessert with ice cream/cookie was also nice. The horrible - the service here is a piece of shit, to put it bluntly. Many of the folks who were working that morning were not friendly and many customers could tell they didn't want to be there that early. Not a great vibe when you've got lots of families there for a photo op event with Shrek. I know this restaurant isn't Universal Studios but there should still be some level of professionalism. We had to ask repeatedly to get refills on our drinks and coffee and it got to the point where the obviously annoyed waitress just simply ignored us and we had to flag someone else who seemed equally annoyed. At one point I could see a few of them talking about us in an unflattering way and that was pretty much a nice middle finger moment from this staff. Obviously there's no reason to come back to this place and there's no way in hell I'd recommend this establishment to anyone in good conscience. I will give props to the people who were handling/managing Shrek though, they were very friendly and made it a lot of fun for the kids there (they appeared to be staff from Nickelodeon downstairs thought). read more

Was at the American Dream mall on a Sunday and stopped by Marcus Live! for lunch (didn't realize that all of the stores in the mall that sell clothes and furniture are closed on Sundays because of the Bergen County Blue Laws so it was a mistake being there but thankfully the restaurants were open). The food was solid and the service was friendly. We ordered a variety of dishes including the Wings which were excellent with the Brown Sugar sauce and the Swedish Meatballs which were okay. We also had the Fried Chicken & Cornbread Waffle and the Crispy Yardbird Sando and thought the fried chicken in these dishes was good but perhaps not quite to the level of what we have had at another one of Marcus Samuelsson's restaurant that we like (Metropolis). Recommended by my nephew. We dropped in right after the Rams whooped the Jets. Not sure how we got so lucky, but we only waited 5 minutes for a table and they decided to seat us right in front of the bar where we got to see all the action in the kitchen. We started off with an order of the wings - everything style. I highly recommended the everything option as they mix all the sauces. Also got the ribs. That sauce was bussin that I needed all the wipes to clean up. Decided to share the double smash burger and chicken and waffles. The waffle was way too soggy at the bottom that I only got to enjoy the chicken portion. The burger was a little dry. I only took 3 bites and didn't finish the rest. The dessert was meh. Pretty good American restaurant in the American Dream mall. I ordered The B&G Prime Burger ($23), which was good but honestly a bit plain / not that special. Apart from the burger patty, there was just some swiss cheese and smoked mayo in there. It came with a generous amount of fries, which were not bad but again, just a bit plain. I think $23 is a bit steep for this plain burger. I also got the M's Cornbread ($12), which was certainly better than average. It was just the right softness and came with some honey butter and jam. However, similar to the burger, I do think this was slightly overpriced. The place itself is spacious with lots of seating, including bar seating. There is a lively atmosphere with numerous TVs around. The staff are average friendliness. While the service speed for the food is okay, it took them an eternity to help us after we asked them to split the bill (after they agreed they would do this) - not sure why, but it seemed like they just forgot about us at that point. Overall, I think Marcus Live is a decent choice for quality American food in American Dream, however I do think it is a bit overpriced and not really special in any way. read more

We came here for Valentine's Day and got the limited menu. Appetizer was a Watermelon Caprese salad... TOP TIER! The prosciutto was crispy, the watermelon was sweet and the combo was excellent. We had glazed short ribs with mashed potatoes for dinner. The short ribs melted in your mouth, cooked to perfection. We got the Mac n cheese to try it, so flavorful. The dessert was a heart shape vanilla cake with raspberry filling, it was amazing. The DJ played all of the right 90s-2000s r&b. Vibe was excellent along with the food and the service. We went on a rainy Saturday and didn't have a reservation. We sat at the bar which is in the back of the restaurant. Best item I ate was the brussel sprouts -- yummy. If I did go back I'd probably stick to the sprouts and salmon. My dining companion said he didn't love his waffle with his chicken and waffle dinner. Ambiance was just OK. The music was very loud, our table wabbled, and the women's bathroom needed attention. Overall, I would not feel the need to return. My friends and I came here to eat for a birthday dinner, and from the start the service wasn't up to par. Our waitress was nice, however, it took a very long time to order our food and to receive it as well. I'm used to receiving my meal with everyone else's but for some reason they were coming out one by one minutes apart? We sat down at 6:00PM and I personally did not receive any food until 7:20PM. A friend and I ordered chicken and waffles and were told the waffle machine was broken, AFTER I asked if my meal would be out soon after waiting 25+ minutes for it. When I asked to order wings instead the waitress said they were out of wings. My friends all said the food was not great and my friends' chicken was not thoroughly cooked. One friend ordered medium steak and got well done. It doesn't seem like temperatures are being followed as well. Highly disappointed and will not be coming here again. Oh and also, don't bother bringing an outside cake to this place, because they will try to charge you $3 PER SLICE, that they cut. Do better. read more

Marcus Samuelsson did not disappoint with this one! Located upstairs in the American Dream mall, this open air restaurant is warm inviting and has the perfect vibe for all occasions. I particularly enjoyed the music being played. We sat at the bar and truly enjoyed the service from Carmen. She was fun, quick and made the best (and first) D'usse espresso martini I've ever had!! Everything on the menu looked amazing, but we went for a quick bite and tried the Panzanella salad (which was a special for the night), macaroni cheese and M's favorite wings (jerk flavor). Everything was mouthwatering and cooked perfectly. We didn't have a single complaint. On our way out Marcus was sitting by the bar and we expressed our gratitude for his awesome food.
