I could tell from the photos that the vibe was lighthearted and trendy, and the reviews of their food were also excellent, so it was the perfect choice. We pulled up in our ride share and noticed that valet parking was available, which was helpful to know for the future. We ascended the several steps up to the lobby, where we checked in and were then escorted to one of their two dining rooms. We were greeted by our nice server and then I went to look for the restroom, only to discover that there was a single bathroom for all diners. I found that odd, particularly because, though the restaurant was not super crowded on that evening, I know that it could be busy on weekends. Anyway, after waiting around five minutes, I was able to get inside and then rush back to my dining companion. We both reviewed the drink menus, intrigued by the fruity, tropical concoctions on offer. I settled on the Ex Keeps Calling, which was made of Don Julio Tequila, passion fruit, cinnamon, Cointreau, lime, Aperol, and mint. The orange-colored drink arrived in a rocks glass on a large wooden board that also included an antique telephone that was ringing. It was such a playful presentation! The cocktail resembled a passion fruit margarita, but had slight bitter notes from the Aperol and sweetness from the cinnamon. I could not detect the mint, but the cinnamon really made the drink memorable, in my opinion. My partner ordered the Guarapita, which included Patron Reposado, guava, pineapple, lime, and thyme, and was served in a large rectangular glass that looked like a purse and even had a leather strap attached to it. The drink was decent, but tasted like cotton candy, so it was a bit too sweet. From a food perspective, we were very intrigued by many items on the menu and decided to start by sharing the Trio De Cesticas De Platano Rellenas, a set of three plantain cups with protein stuffing. The menu said that we had our choice of fillings between beef, pork, and chicken, so we had assumed that we would receive one of each. However, the trio only accommodated one variety. We choose the beef and were thrilled with how juicy it was. The meat was tender, and the marinade was juicy and savory. The plantain cup, however, was a bit dry and was potentially premade. For my entree, I selected the Pechuga de Pollo, which was always a favorite dish of mine. The chicken breast was pounded into a massive, thin filet that was juicy and well-marinated. That was a contrast to my companion's Lomo Salteado, a dish of stir-fried beef with onions, tomatoes, and spices that included pretty dry and chewy meat. The dish also had a few large potato slices that looked like they had been fried, but tasted baked. Those could have used a bit more flavor. Both dishes came with our choice of side dish. I went with the mixed vegetables, and he went with the yellow rice, both of which were good but needed more pizazz. Overall, we loved the tropical rainforest atmosphere, childlike cocktail presentations, and tasty food. We just felt that the dishes could have used some additional seasoning. However, we would gladly return.

My first time at this location and the sticky wings were a hit for my family. The half rack of baby back ribs were soft and flavorful and the bacon, cheese and onion burger was also delicious. I also enjoyed my passion fruit frozen margarita. The flavor was not on the menu but our waitress recommended it. Will definitely be returning again!

Looking around at the people eating we wait in eager anticipation after seeing the generous portion sizes. Our Buffalo cauliflower (and apps for friends) finally come out after waiting a bit of time. While I thought the cauliflower was just fine, Red found some of them a little tough. We both order the double beef ribs. Red gets baked potato with hers, and I get the fries. Again, both the (very tender) ribs and fries were generous in size, but the fries are cold and mushy. Not sure why I didn't complain then, but others at our table who receive fries get them cold and mushy. That is not all we get. After speaking with Red today, it turns out she vomited last night from the food and says the ribs came up. I had two bouts of the runs and felt off the rest of the night. The bills arrived and they auto add a gratuity to the bill for a party of 5+. My bill was $95.44 with tip included and I gladly handed over a $100 bill for the extra tip, as did everyone else at our table tip extra. I don't mind the mandatory tip as we always go in with the intention of tipping well for good food and service. But we do mind cold food and illness that follows. You milage may vary, but illness is not something we tolerate and give second chances. We won't ever be back.

A few of us had been talking about trying it for a while, and it totally lived up to the hype. The vibe inside was welcoming and comfortable, and the whole hot pot experience made lunch feel like something fun and different instead of just a quick meal. We picked a broth and then ordered a bunch of meats, vegetables, and noodles to share. Everything tasted really fresh, and the broth was full of flavor from the start and got even better as we kept cooking. It's the kind of place where you end up trying a little bit of everything, and it's perfect for a group because everyone can customize their own bites. We also appreciated that it didn't feel rushed, even though it was lunchtime. Service was great too. The staff was friendly, checked on us often enough without hovering, and helped explain options for anyone who hadn't done hot pot before. That made a big difference, especially with a bigger group. By the time we finished, we were already talking about coming back. I definitely plan to return soon with my family, and I can also see myself bringing a few colleagues here as well. It's a great spot for catching up, doing a casual group lunch, or just getting a really satisfying meal.

But other moments call for a proper sit-down meal complete with sunset or waterfront views. Perfectly placed on the waterfront with "breathtaking views of NYC" and named after the historic 19th-century estate of New York banking magnate James Gore King, the Highwood is a restaurant, bar, and sports lounge situated at Port Imperial in Weehawken, where my partner and I decided on dinner yesterday. The reservation was easily done via OpenTable. Upon entering as first-timers, we were greeted by the host inside a rustic yet modern wood and metal design with a sophisticated vibe and a unique layout, making it perfect for dinners and watching live sports alike. We were seated on a high bar table in the main room, consisting of a large 10-foot TV wall behind one of the bars. Their crafted menu features a diverse array of dishes, ranging from classic salads, seafood, pizza, and more to balance comfort and creativity. We decided to share the Creamy Spinach which is always a great starter. For our main meal, we opted for the Delmonico and Steak Frites. We washed them down the Jam Slam and Dragon Fruit Spritz. The food was absolutely delicious using fresh ingredients. Every dish was prepared with great flavor and quality. The portions were satisfying, and everything came out well-paced, which added to the overall experience. The staff was fantastic, very friendly, and accommodating, especially our server, Taylor. This establishment remains a sought-after destination for locals and visitors alike.
