Sat down at a filthy bar at 9:40- got ignored by bartender to be told kitchen was closed.

I came in around 6pm to ask about times and see the menu. I was helped by a very kind woman who provided me with a paper copy of the menu to review as I got ready for dinner. Upon arrival at dinner time, I was seated and attended. It was only one other pair in the restaurant (next to the bar) area. The place was pretty peaceful and had low music. The steak was a perfect medium well strip. It cut through like butter. I loved the texture. The mashed potatoes were so tasty and plentiful; it was topped with two baked home-made potato chips. The broccoli had minced garlic, which is not mentioned in the menu but, which transformed it from regular steamed broccoli to a tasty side. I will definitely be used that in my future recipes. I can't wait to return to this hotel and to this restaurant. I'm sure you can come have a bite even if you aren't staying at their equally as wonderful Renaissance Meadowlands Hotel. read more

I was not expecting to be blown away at a hotel restaurant however the food was delicious and the staff was exceptional. I had the pleasure of meeting Isamar and the manager on staff Althea and they definitely made my experience there more enjoyable. They were so welcoming and their attention to detail and customer service blew me away. Def a must! Great job ladies!!! read more

The place is nice enough, service was ok. Mediocre food but great comedy shows at Banana's.

Terrible in many ways, but the top reasons include slow, inattentive service and bringing out a dish that was not even close to how it was described on the menu. My salad was fine. I did however, order a charcuterie plate to go that was described with multiple cheeses, meats and fruit along with various crackers and a fruit spread. What I received was nothing like this at all. (See photo) it was literally water crackers and two types of cheap, sliced cheese with a plastic container of jelly. Gross. My server was nowhere to be found. Management stepped away from the hotel desk to look for her and was not found, probably too embarrassed to deal with the problem. Asked for a refund and it took over an hour to coordinate with hotel manager and restaurant manager to ok it. Was told they would do it eventually and it may take a few days to credit back to my card. Ridiculous. Will they actually do it? Remains to be seen. Most hotel restaurants are not worth the time, and this one is no exception to the rule. They boast "farm to table" but it's like dollar store to table. Really sad that they will throw something together disregarding what they advertise and just hope the customer is ok with it? Don't waste your money here. They definitely don't care about the food they serve or how they serve it. read more

I stay at the Renaissance frequently and Finch's is actually pretty good for both dinner and breakfast. I really do think that they should include two sides with their main courses. Seems like they are trying to upsell an extra +$8 for an extra side, which is not cool. read more

This is located inside the renaissance Hotel on the ground floor. The restaurant itself was closed but LUCKILY we were still able to eat at the bar/lounge & with my 6 year old- which I thought was amazing! My bf & I both got the filet & my son got a special off menu kids size chicken tenders with fries which I thought was amazing! The hotel staff was super helpful and friendly! The restaurant staff were all top of the line from the: host/waiter/bartender right down to the bus boy! Very attentive HERE & were All top of the line- extremely friendly and helpful! Wow, Finch's to the rescue... came to the renaissance hotel and found this gem inside... great find for sure. Was prepping for a very long wedding day for my bro and knew I needed to eat to survive.. Finch's came through with an amazing frittata! It was SO LIGHT and fluffy. It came jam packed with turkey sausage, tomatoes, avocado, and arugula laying on top with a side of a fruit bowl... I ate the whole thing and it kept me full for a while... others ordered eggs benne and eggs their own way, everyone mostly cleaned their plates... This restaurant shocked me for being inside a little renaissance hotel... it was brand new and decorated really cute aaaaaannndddd our waitress was on point, so there you have it....it's a go! read more

I never have high exceptions when trying restaurants which are in hotels. They are usually below average and the service isn't great. This is the FIRST restaurant I have ever been to in a hotel that surprised me. I came here for work with my colleagues one day and I unfortunately was not feeling well. Our waitress asked if there was anything I wanted to eat and told her my stomach wasn't feeling the best. She took it upon herself to make me a ginger beer which she said would help, which it did. A few minutes later the manager came over and felt bad I wasn't feeling well so she made the chef make fresh chicken noodle soup for me with bread on the side, which was delicious! This was not only the best service I have ever had but also the food was great. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

The hotel was nice, but overpriced, and the restaurant in the hotel called Finch's was the worst Place I have ever had dinner at !!! The food was good but we had to wait a long time for it to come, and they don't give you anything to eat while you are waiting unless you buy an appetizer and only one side with your meal. The waiter never asked us if the food was good, or if we needed anything else, and then even if we wanted dessert they never asked us if we wanted any? Than to top it all off we asked for coffee and they didn't have any!!! What kind of restaurant is this LOL ????? read more

Its a hotel in the Renaissance Hotel but the do a good job. I've eaten my fair share of dinners in hotels and Finch's does a good job. They have a bar that is attached and its a cozy place to have a drink. The service is attentive. Décor is modern. Food is 'murican modern. Overall, I don't mind eating here at all. Good food, good service and most definitely convienient when you are staying here. read more

Ok, I can't believe that I live exactly a mile away from this establishment and I never knew it existed...excellent American cuisine with attentive service for the price of an a Italian plate at one of the nice restaurants in Rutherford. Many stay's at the Marriott but either wanting to experience the local diner's etc for Breakfast I've never set foot in this place before. With a heavy snow falling we settle in for breakfast this past weekend. Note this is for a Breakfast review only. From Farm to Table is their motto as everything they do is fresh. They should have left it all at the farm, as if there was a way to screw up breakfast this place accomplished the task pretty easily. Nicely appointed room very modern it's 930AM and we are the only other couple in the place for breakfast. Coffee is desperately needed as we choose our seating.. and are told sorry we are out of coffee it will be a few minutes... REALLY ... REALLY ... how can you not have coffee ready during breakfast hours. Waitress comes by and wants to take our order I kindly state please I need to have some coffee before we order. I then received the Nastiest look ever from any server in history. If looks could kill I'd be 6 feet under. Wanting to now just leave I took 1 look at the large white flakes coming down and said remain calm, I should have called the snow plow. Coffee finally arrives and it's not even GOOD Coffee.... Order simple breakfast eggs over easy, with Taylor ham Well Done, breakfast potatoes $12.00 NO Bread provided for that $12.00 order... Eggs are over hard and fried.. Strike 2 ..... Taylor ham looked like the put it in the pan for about 10 seconds and served it... "RAW" strike 3... I'd go to strike 4 to the Burnt Potatoes that had absolutely no flavor but that would be redundant. A simple Bagel Which they named the place it was from Locally were two mini bagels that would not make you proud if you said the best bagels were from NJ... In Short supermarket packaged goods were better. Never returned to see if our coffee pot needed a refill, in fact Ms. Nasty didn't show back up till the over priced bill needed to be paid. Not quite sure what the lounge or other presentations are all about for lunch or dinner, but as Breakfast goes... Don't even bother opening up.. a disgraceful presentation.. The food here was really delicious. I had appetizers, entree and desert. The food was presented beautifully, and I loved how the fusion of Asian, Spanish, and Italian was done so perfectly. My favorite was the nicki-style ahi tuna with the sweet banana. I also enjoyed the apple-smoked tuna with raspberry sorbet, and scallops with quail egg. My entree was the lobster with capallenni pasta which I shared With my boyfriend. I ate in the lounge where Sam the bartender served us, and was excellent with making sure we had all we needed. He was extremely polite and attentive to us. We had dinner on a Friday night around 8pm, there was family of 20 including children that were A few feet away from our table, it seemed they were a group meeting in the lobby for dinner, because I seen pizza boxes;so it was a bit noisy, but Despite the noise we chose to sit in the lobby to watch some sports comfortably, and after a having a delicious cocktail made by Sam the bartender, I blocked out the children. I do think they should build some type of closure to separate the lobby from lounge since it's pretty much open, it would make the lounge a little more private, and I think they should have music to help block out the noises from the lobby. The Chef came out and introduced himself and I thought that was great! One of my ALL TIME favorites is Chef Nick-style tiramisu. I mean he is a talented because this tiramisu was everything !!!!! He made it with wafers and I could've sworn I tasted cognac too. 5 stars !!!!! OverAll Chef Nicki has magic hands and you can see it for sure and taste it. I will be back again! The waiter Ahmed was terrific at explaining the dishes, super informative, and overall customer service from him was terrific. FINCH has a SUPERB CHEF- TERRIFIC BARTENDER- AND EXCELLENT WAIT SERVICE. A summer Sunday afternoon, and we are the only Family in the restaurant. Oh boy! I was skeptical of the food and level of service we would receive. But my dad, whose birthday lunch this was, had picked Finchs based on online reviews and I didn't want to walk out. We were greeted and served by one of the most amazing and attentive servers. And the food was delicious! We had the crab cake, Nickeys tuna, blackened salmon, steak with potatoes and a juicy cheese burger. The desserts are definitely not their strong point in my opinion, so I'll skip that the next time. But this place ended up being a tucked away jewel. And I loved that it turned into our private space for the afternoon without the bustle of typical Rutherford and Lyndhurst restaurants on a summer day. read more

I'm in town for business and have been blown away by the food at Finch. My first night I had the Peking Duck and was amazed at the quality of the food and the flavor was perfect. The duck was cooked to perfection and was expertly paired with vegetables that highlighted the texture and flavors. The second night I had the most amazing buttery scallops. We were staying at the Renaissance, we ate at CK's (the restaurant restaurant) a number of times -- and felt a "change of name" would be the same quality. We had 7 people dining -- our dishes ranged from OK to "really bad" Perhaps they don't know how to make chicken -- my wife had the penne-vodka -- it was NOT vodka sauce (just plain tomato sauce) and the chicken was very tough -- probably cooked and heated up several times. We complained and they comped it. My sister "coq au vin" chicken -- it was tough too and she left most of it. I had the crabcakes (probably frozen) and scallops -- it wasn't too bad. The restaurant wasn't crowded and it was hard to get service (i.e. order a drink, refill my water). For a rainy Friday night this hotel restaraunt was dead. We were the only table in the place at 8PM! Shrimp and avocado salad was amazing. Wine choices OK. This farm to table hidden gem is going to be my new favorite restaurant! My husband went with out 6 month old son. The place was clean, the food was AMAZING and we had an ovrall great experience. We both had fish entree's and let me tell you..... not one thing was overcooked. I find that a lot of places can't cook scallops properly but Finch's nailed it! Stayed at Renaissance Hotel and thought it would be ideal to have dinner and relax . Very disappointed in service of this restaurant. When we asked waitress about getting a basket of bread she replied well I'm only one hear and haven't had time to replenish it yet maybe in another 20 mins !! Having read prior positive reviews, I am here to say they are all on point. I Had Valentine's Dinner with my wife and the service was outstanding. The staff was very attentive without being overbearing. The special Valentine's day menu was quite delightfully. It was our first time dining there despite having been residents of Lyndhurst for over a decade. It was the great reviews that made me give it a try and I am sincerely grateful because they put this wonderful place in our path. The live harpist was a treat!! We had mother's day brunch at Finch's. It was wonderful! This was not your standard mother's day "mass produced" brunch. The food was all delicious and tasted like it was just freshly made. The service also was top notch. Our server, Renee, was exceptional as was all the wait staff. They really care about providing the best service and it really shows. Even though they were busy the whole time we were there, the restaurant is small and so the experience was very intimate and we really felt catered to. I was also there earlier in the week to enjoy the entertainment in the lobby bar which happens every Wednesday at 7PM. First time eating at Finch's. Decor is very chic and modern. The staff was very friendly and informative and able to speak about the food with no difficulty. Eating at the bar, which was very spacious, was great to catch up with a former colleague. The Corn and crab soup was very tasty with a decent amount of crab. The bourbon chicken salad was fresh and tasty and chicken cooked perfectly. We were told the beer taps were not working, so we opted for bottled beer, (not sure why a brand new restaurant would have such issues after an extensive renovation) but alas the Cricket Hill IPA came to the rescue. If I could give a half a star I would. This was by the the WORST dining experience I ever had. 20 minutes before anyone came to the table. 45 minutes for the appetizer. The restaurant was empty. Ordered 3 steak medium rare all were over cooked. We sent them back. Manager comes over to explain why our steaks couldn't be cooked medium rare. No apology nothing. Half and hour later. Amazing service and food. I didn't have too high of expectations for a hotel restaurant but the house salad I requested because it was not on the menu was fresh and delicious. I had the lamb chops with roasted potatoes, collard greens and taziki/yogurt sauce. Amazing. The lamb chops were literally the best lamb chops I have ever had. The theme of the restaurant is fresh/farm to table and it delivers. I was so impressed I asked the friendly waiter to ask the cook to come out so I could tell him myself. I did. And the collard greens with garlic were delicious--that's coming from a Southerner who loves all sorts of greens. I added Finch's to Yelp because I enjoyed it so very much. And this is the first time I have ever posted a food review anywhere, Yelp or otherwise. Eat here. I wish I would have last night instead of eating at Ruth's Chris in Weehawken, New Jersey.
