Tavern fries & the Ham Brie Croissant
    Nicole M.

Came during brunch but was really hankering for their French dip sandwich. A tad bit of a bummer, but on the bright side I got to try out their brunch menu! We tried the Ham & Brie Croissant with Tavern Fries. The Croissant was big enough for two of us to share and SOO good. I had the Golden Peach Martini while my girlfriend ordered the Brown Butter Old Fashioned. I'm not typically one to order an Old Fashioned so I always try hers out -- this has to be a top 5 for me!! This was my second time coming to Union. I had initially come in the fall for a Yelp Elite event but I've been wanting to come back ever since. For a "bar," their food and drink list is elevated and better than most! Shout out to our server Mariah! She said the bar had poured too much prosecco for another table, so we got to enjoy some complimentary prosecco -- can't let that go to waste! ;) Parking in East Rutherford can be tough at times, but I do love that Union has their own lot with plenty of parking. It just makes choosing a place to go easier!

This is a great addition to the Rutherford dining lineup. It's an excellent spot for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. The ambiance is fantastic, blending a modern and classic touch. The drinks are phenomenal, and the location is in a quieter area with very little traffic. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time in a great location with excellent service.

Popped in for cocktails after dinner on opening night. The bar area was packed, but service was good for their first night. Definitely some improvements to be made, but they're still working out the kinks. The design is great and the union looks perfect for east Rutherford by the train station. Definitely going back soon and trying the food.

The food was excellent, the service was good, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. The wings for the price could use a few veggies sticks on the side and a little more crunchiness. But the drinks and flavor of the burger and fries made up for the highest stars.

UB&P is fairly new; easy to get to with plenty of parking; Staff is very friendly, our waiter Amanda was great. Ownership really did a great job creating a very cool, city-style, modern atmosphere. Before writing this review, I had to really think about what UB&P really is and (duh!) the name says it all. This is more of a bar first and food ( provisions) secondary. As long as you visit with this in mind you should have a good experience. Well lit, well stocked bar with as pair of large TVS for watching a game. Not a craft beer bar but ok on the wine selection and it has an interesting craft cocktail list. However the drinks sounded better than they were made. My dining companion and I have had our fair share of Old Fashions and Lychee-style martinis. The versions here GOLDEN PEACH MARTINI & BROWN BUTTER WASHED OLD FASHIONED fell flat. At $16-18 per, they need to get better. As for food, a very small menu ( which I do like at times) but this one doesn't have anything that says "I have to try that!" Again I'm feeling that what with all the great restaurants in the next town it makes sense to push the alcohol here more than the food. We split he hummus platter which was very good; For our main course: the house burger ( with fries) and meatloaf ( with sauteed spinach and pureed potatoes). The burger was very good and cooked as ordered. The meatloaf was good\ok, but I have the opinion that most of us already have a version of our favorite meatloaf from somewhere else ( mom's, spouse's, our own). A side of cornbread was ordered too. I find most places make it too dry but this version was very good. Do NOT expect to have dessert here as it is almost non-existent. No menu and only a few generic choices like cheesecake, chocolate cake, creme brulee ( they had 1 left on a Wednesday night! really? ) Anyway, good place for catching the game with some drinks. Food here if needed to keep the night going. They just need to do a little work on those cocktails.

This place came highly recommended and I was so impressed with how beautiful this space was. It's spacious yet cozy with a nice bar and dining areas. The food and service were excellent. We had appetisers and it was difficult to pick a favorite. I can't wait to come again for dinner!

Came here for date night after coming for an event the week prior. Everything was absolutely delicious! Although I was disappointed some of their small bites were not on their menu that they supplied at the event (like their chicken empanadas, delicious!), we ended up ordering a bunch of other small bites. Their spinach and artichoke dip was my favorite. We ordered tacos for our entree, and unfortunately, had them sent back. The steak was way too undercooked for me and my boyfriends liking, and way too chewy! Luckily, our waitress was the sweetest and sent it back to have it cooked. Unfortunately when she brought it back, it was still too undercooked. Other than that, the vibes of the place are AMAZING. It is close to the American Dream mall, perfect to grab a bite before going anywhere around that area! The one thing I always love about my experience here is how friendly the staff is. The bartenders, bussers, and waitresses all do their part and love to make the customers feel at home. The owner is super friendly, always making sure everyone is having a great time! Regardless of the mishap, I still can not wait to come back here for more of their small bites and drinks.

This was my first time trying Union Bar after hearing that it had just opened. The ambiance was lovely, it was such a cute bar! The crowd was mainly couples. My friend and I sat at the bar. The drinks were delicious. I got the golden peach martini. For food I ordered the burger medium rare. It did not have any flavor and was a very dense consistency and not juicy. I feel like for an upscale place it would also help to add some fancy topping choices or various cheese choices to add some flair. We also got the fried brussel sprouts which were amazing! For just drinks and apps I'd say 5 stars but was disappointed in the burger. But I would go back!

Burger. Great. Fries could be thicker and hand cut. They are too dry, well done, and skinny for my taste.

First time there. Place is great -great staff great decor. The burger is great. The fish and chips are very good but the standout is the shrimp and garlic sauce. It is literally better than any Spanish tavern in Newark. Jumbo sized shrimp amazing garlic bread. Would go back every day just for that.

Recently came here for an event, but this definitely won't be my last time here. The drinks were and well balanced. The food was fresh and the choices were ample. My favorite was the French dip. All it needed was a bit of horseradish but overall excellent. The service was pleasant but the star of this place is the amazing ambiance. Great high ceilings- amazing lighting - definitely an upgrade to Rutherford.

I went during opening day and will say there were similar growing pains on the first day. I do not care about service when the kitchen, wait stsff and other workers are learning the ins and outs of keeping a bar alive. I expected it and gave the waitress time and patience who checked on me and apologized for the delays. I only cared about the food and when it did arrived, I had no complaints. Tasty, fresh, and served with good portions. I had focaccia, whole chicken with mashed potatoes and chimichurri. French dip with fries, nachos with chili carne and if I didn't have to wait from 6 to 8:30, I'd likely had ordered dessert. The ambience and interior is modern, bright, and stunning. Whether on romantic nights, after a work shift or simply for a night out, the bars ambience invites everyone. Down the road with the changing seasons, the large windows and outside seating may lead to great photos to be taken as well for special occasions Will be back, and hope in a month, they're better equipped, ready to serve and keep trying new combinations with the menu. The positives far outweigh the negatives and hopefully with time,, the negatives disappear.

The Union Bar is a beautiful, modern, and very clean spot in East Rutherford. The atmosphere feels upscale, and I appreciated the little touches--like someone opening the door for you. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, which made the service welcoming from the start. On the food side, the French Dip sandwich was absolutely outstanding--probably the highlight of the meal. The burger was a good size and juicy, while the nachos were flavorful (though very spicy, so be prepared if you're not into heat). Unfortunately, the Cobb salad was a letdown--plain, boring, and unappealing in presentation. A missed opportunity for such a classic dish. There were a few disappointments with the bar and service timing: no stuffed olives available for my martini (a small but frustrating detail, since so many martini lovers enjoy them), and the drinks took quite a while to arrive. The food also came out sporadically, rather than together, which disrupted the flow of the meal. Atmosphere-wise, while the interior is lovely, it's very cold inside--definitely bring a sweater. It's also extremely noisy, and the sound of the train going by only adds to the loudness, making it difficult to have a conversation. Overall, The Union Bar has a lot of potential: great presentation, friendly staff, and some standout dishes. But with slower service, inconsistent food timing, and a few misses on the menu, it's not quite there yet. Hopefully, with some adjustments, it could become a go-to spot.

We had a large party (20+) party here and I cannot say enough about how great everything was. The service was phenomenal, food was excellent and they were so accommodating. The decor and vibe of the restaurant and is awesome. Highly recommend.

Great cocktails - I had the "goodfella" - mellow old fashioned. Would have loved that with a cigar! The ladies had cosmos and they were pleased. The menu is limited but a diverse set of selections. No specials - not sure if they offer specials on the weekends. We'll find out on our next visit. For apps: I enjoyed my tortilla soup - more like a chili consistency than soup - and it was delicious! We shared wings as well. They were crispy and meaty and they'll default to mixing in a choice of sauces or they'll bring the sauces on the side for you. Nice touch! For entrees: Can't go wrong with the burger or the chicken sandwich. Add truffle fries for $1 up charge - worth it! Coming back to try the blackened cod sandwich or fish n chips with salt and vinegar fries. (They were just out of cod when we arrived at around 8:00pm - next time!). My wife had the chicken parm - huge portion, decent marinara (rare that my wife orders red sauce outside of a bonafide Italian restaurant) with a side of lasagna-looking pasta - very good! Vikki was our server tonight - smart, organized, efficient. She was a pleasure throughout our experience. Give this place a try - you won't be disappointed! Can't wait to go back soon!

We were one of the first parties to walk in, the host took us to our table right away. I was mezmerized by the gorgeous interior, art and decor of the place. They have a huge full service bar as well. The menu had few choices in each of the sections of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, salad and entrees. I ordered the bulgogi tacos from the appetizers section, that came with 2 tacos filled with slices of flavorful bulgogi steak, topped with some pickled carrots and cabbage. For entree I got the NY strip melt sandwich. Again the sandwich was filled with delicious steak pieces, caramelized onions, cheese and aioli. The bread they used was really fluffy and thick, but I was glad it was the soft brioche kind. The seared salmon was cooked perfectly with beautiful char all around. Loved the virgin pomelo drink so much, I got two of them. The service was good overall. Our server was friendly and did a good job attending multiple tables simultaneously, including ours. The dishes came out within decent intervals. Overall we loved the lunch experience, and look forward to returning again in future to try some of their other dishes.

I went last night after a concert at the MetLife stadium near by. Once we were seated they brought out plates for the table and every one of the four plates given to us had charcoal dust on them, which isn't alarming at an establishment that serves hookah. We asked the waitress LAMIA if she can change the plates, Immediately she caught an attitude. She was adamant they weren't dirty but went to get us new plates as requested. The great thing about outside seating at this establishment is that the windows are wide open so you can see inside. We watched as LAMIA walked over to her coworkers to complain, stomp her foot and have an attitude driven tantrum while she filled them in on our request for new plates. For the rest of dinner we were greeted with the rudest attitude and treatment of distain from this server. She didn't want to speak with us. She didn't want to serve us. Thank you for runing our night LAMIA. She even brought the check over while we were mid eating our dinner, put it on the table and walked away without a word. Rushing us out without even acknowledgement. Paying $200 for a meal with that sort of treatment makes for an interesting end to our evening. We were raised with manners so we continued to be polite and thank her each time she dropped off an item. Makes me question if our food was tampered with because we even found a piece of hair in our meal. We all have long jet black hair down our backs so this hair definitely was not ours. But didn't feel comfortable to speak up due to the treatment we were already receiving. The service industry is for those who enjoy curating a space of fun and enjoyment for consumers. I would think twice about going to this establishment if you're looking for a good time.

When I told my mom where we were going her reaction- "omg that place is still around?!? It use to be excellent back in the day!" Well I am happy to report this place is just as good today as it was during my mother's heyday. I decided to get a few oysters and clams to start off with and everything was just so fresh. As an entree the Seafood in a spicy red sauce was easily one of the best I have had in a very long time. There was a generous amount of seafood within the dish, the sauce I swear I could just drink it out of a cup and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My husband got the bbq ribs which I didn't try but you could see how they just slid right off the bone and he couldn't stop talking about how good they were.
