Stayed here again to check out the new lake houses. They are super cute! Very quiet, great air conditioning, WiFi is spotty for phones and laptop and kept dropping out but the tv worked great. The only suggestion would be to have more staircases for elderly people trying to walk around... huge boulders look nice and aesthetic but are very difficult to navigate even for someone in their 30-40's and we had someone over 80 in our party. He has to walk around the long way to get to the lake or to the restaurant because there aren't easily accessible stairs or walkways. read more

i sent this email to the resort and they didn't even respond. Not only is this a legal issue with getting hurt but also a total disregard for proper description of the cottage. Do NOT waste your money. stay at the stTe resort right next door. The email we received zero response from: We booked our family vacation July 31 - 2nd in cottage 4. We ended up staying an additional night. See below for explanation why. We come here every year, but decided to splurge on a cottage instead of an RV. Just as we always do with our RV, we allow our teen to pop a tent. Makes him feel independent and overall responsible. Throughout the resort we saw 4 tents in addition to RV's in one spot. We didn't see a posting that tents are not allowed by the cottage. I was extremely embarrassed when I was informed by maintenance to remove it. I swallowed my pride, went to the office, purchased another site for his tent. When I told the office we didn't see anywhere online or at the site that says this is not allowed, I was informed "it's just not allowed". Ok, cool. What became absolutely frustrating about Cottage 4, is the slider door is nearly impossible to open. Going in and out required my thigh pushed against it with both arms pulling up. This was a nuisance and should not be an issue with the expense you pay per night. The tent was easier to manage than this cottage. Regarding our stay, I read on the website "cottages with full kitchens". Which would imply the cottage has an oven. All the groceries and meal planning, required an oven. Imagine my surprise when the food I brought, was useless. We dined at the restaurant and trashed our dinner plans at the cottage. If those things weren't enough to upset someone, the concrete right outside the cottage has a 1-2 inch lip. My boyfriend ended up catching and ripping part off his toe. We attempted to clean the blood up, but it stained the concrete and my boyfriends toe is injured pretty badly. The following night after the toe incident, our zero gravity chair and life jacket gets stolen. We scoured the whole resort looking for our stolen chair. We asked residents as well as maintenance crews, with no luck. We were forced to extend our trip another night because my BF's truck tire blew out and we had to ship a tire in. We reserved the cottage another night and hadn't had a chance to move the tent from the spot we were forced to purchase. We were quickly reminded it must be removed. Yet again, went to the office to reserve another night for a tent - while seeing multiple tents on RV spots. Frustrating. After the letdowns of this trip, injury/incorrect kitchen description/safety and door functionality, we are exploring other options within the area. Disappointed in the resort is a total understatement. To further not disappoint, I think these items should be handled/addressed. We would also like to add, maintenance came out at 10:30am today, before check out time. We were not fully cleared out. This made things a bit uncomfortable and cramped. Im guessing the previous guests also complained about the door and that's their reason for randomly showing up. read more

Absolutely loved the park itself. Beautiful. Amazing views! Very nice people. BUT they had the worst showers I have ever used in an RV park. It was a luck warm mister at best. Terrible. Disappointed in this place. It has alot of potential. The Blith Bay sites were nice however the garbage dumpster is a long distance away. As others mentioned this place is full of drunks. We were at the beach for approx an hour and a half and during that time we witnessed both a dog take a crap in swimming area (in the water) and a drunk woman vomit in the swim area. I quickly got my kids out of there. There was a lot of garbage left on the beach and no one seemed to clean it up while we were there. The beach was just gross. We rented a pontoon boat and I was disappointed with the age and condition of it. For $400 a day you would expect something a bit nicer with a motor that could at least out run the bugs. My MIL rented the sunsetter. It was ok. It only had 2 coffee mugs and 3 forks in the kitchen though. She said the bed was comfortable and the location was right next to the swim area. The AC worked great in the unit. I think if I was an angler I might have liked this place. Its definitely not a place I would bring my family for swimming again. read more

Part of the park is fabulous, but other areas, such as the beach area RV sites are not very appealing or clean looking.

My family have been coming here for a couple decades. We started camping in tents with our kids but have graduated to cottages with our grandkids. This place has it all it's been around so it's rustic but has been updated with the newer cottages and new boat marina. There's fishing and boating and jet skiing. MarDons is close to Moses lake the city so there's a good variety of grocery stores to stock your stay at reasonable pricing. read more

Partiers galore, drunks wandering into our campsite and not leaving us alone, no quiet time, drugs are prevalent, even witnessed a buy and the office manager and owner didn't care. Trash all over the place, not that I mind a walk, the dumpster was a ways off. People not taking care of their kids at the beach. We went into the beach house and the food was greasy. Far from the Four Seasons but if that's what you are looking for, you missed by a long way! MarDon is a wonderful campground and RV park! The general store is a quaint little stop to make during your time there so make sure yon get in there; decent ice cream selection on a hot summer day! Also a great selection of fishing gear and good local knowledge of the lake for those who love to fish! There's also a great bar on the property that has some tasty summer drinks available at fair, but not bargain, prices. The staff is a little slow-paced but very friendly and entertaining. Several large TVs are available for your entertainment needs and they usually have a big karaoke night about a week or so before the Jet Boat races. Overall it's first-world roughing it at tent-level and hotel status if you have an RV/Trailer or rent a Cottage. All and all, I'm looking forward to going back next year! read more

Was a fun time being there with our daughter and her family. Our motorhome with being repaired so we ended up renting a bunkhouse to stay in for a couple days while they camped in their motorhome. The only good thing that I can say about the bunkhouse is it had electricity and there was a lock on the door. We counted 20 dead flies after the first night of my husband killing them with a wet towel. We mentioned the five star accommodations kiddingly to our neighboring guests. They were perfectly fine with everything, Telling us that it looked exactly the same as it did 20 years ago when he had come fishing there with his uncle. I guess that says it all. Everything else was great, the staff in the store, office and restaurant were helpful and friendly. read more

We had an absolute blast camping here this last weekend! We haven't visited the potholes area in 15 years and they have new owners at the Mardon resort since then. The place is super clean, the check in was very professional, the bar is a blast to go to at night, we didn't eat there but the restaurant was clean and full! The beach area is beautiful and the water is clean! Lots of boats and fisherman catching like 5 different kinds of fish! The town of Moses Lake is right down the road and there's lots of golf courses around! Our camping spot was huge and quiet time was recognized, we had a fire every night and they have a little Store that sells wood and everything you need for s'mores! The weather was absolutely fantastic, love love love the Othello area weather! Just a beautiful resort and we definitely will be back! read more

I started out on a three day fishing trip to Potholes but left the same day I arrived. Even after several phone calls and explaining to three people that I was driving an F150 and towing a bass boat and only needed a spot with power to recharge my batteries, they assigned me to a tent site with no way to back in a boat. You would think that as long as they have been around they would know how much space you need for a truck and trailer. When I went to the office to voice my concerns, their on option was a 37x45 site for an added $100. They have the world's worst website for making reservations. Although Potholes is my favorite lake to fish, I will NEVER return to Mardon's for any reason. read more

Decent tackle shop, nice facility, good fishing advice. The staff could use some education in customer service. I made a short term reservation for a skiff rental, and on even shorter notice had to plan on not using the reservation (misbehaving teenagers). Instead of trying to cancel on short notice, I thought I would do the "pay it forward" thing and help a small business and pay for the rental outright, even though I had no expectation of using it. Unfortunately, as I told the story to the tackle shop attendant, he laughed at my circumstances. Multiple times. It was ok. We camped during Labor Day weekend and I think I was expecting something different than what it was. The campsites are so close to each other you feel like people are on top of one another. The water in the lake was so filled with bright green algae that other children were getting rashes, so we decided not to swim. The showers didn't work half the time, or would just spew out ice cold water. We did have fun fishing, (after the resort sold us a fishing pole rental and then made us assemble the brand new pole ourselves, which took 1.5 hours because we are not professionals) I think once was enough for me. read more

Had a great 3 days in our 35 ft RV. First time at MarDon. We lucked out and hit the Potholes Bass Tournament weekend and got a first hand view of a well done fishing tourney since our space was located in the thick of it. Good location, great tackle shop and mini mart, with nice restaurant on site. A bit windy for our pontoon boat, so wife and I fished a couple of (two of many nearby) recommended lakes nearby...Huthinson and Shiner. WiFi was spotty...but they're upgrading to fiber along with opening a new big rig section scheduled for May 2014. We'll be back this summer for some "catch and keep" bass. They charged $4 for my dog, and no TV yet, but we don't mind "roughing" it. Now my wife is lobbying me for a new Ranger, Triton or Skeeter. Sheesh! Sadly, I must give this resort 1 star following a multi-night stay. The reasons: 1.) FILTHY RESTROOMS: Really guys? At the high prices you charge, you could afford to have a maid clean the Limited number of restrooms at your resort 1-3 times per day instead of once every other day, which is the frequency they seem to get cleaned. Also install better ventilation. First thing in the morning, I'd walk into the restroom for a shower and nearly vomit from the strong smell of cigarettes, feces and filth everywhere. Mirrors, trim, and walls look as though they have not been cleaned in YEARS. 2.) ROACHES AND SPIDERS EVERYWHERE. Time to invest in a good exterminator service!!! We found cock roaches crawling on our life jackets which were hung outdoors to dry overnight. In addition, I don't think that I have ever seen so many spiders in my life! Time for some regular Raid treatment. 3.) 1-LANE, DILAPIDATED BOAT LAUNCH: Looks like it has not had maintenance in years. Area is wide enough for 2 separate lanes, but ramp is narrow with drop off on both sides. Lines to launch are long. Then once you do get launched, there are very limited spots to tie up while parking your vehicle. 4.) LACK OF GARBAGE CANS: The lack of garbage cans is inexcusable. For a resort this large and densely populated, people should not need to walk 1/4-1/2 mile to toss their trash. (Many apparently don't, hence the garbage littered in fire pits and bushes around camp sites). POSITIVES: 1.) There's only one. The bait & tackle shop has everything you could possibly imagine and that you will need for camping, fishing, boating, etc. Just the most random stuff that you wouldn't think they would have and like magic - they have it!!! Need some mouth wash or a toothbrush? How about a boat part? Bug spray? They've got you covered. In addition, you will of course find all of the normal stuff you'd expect to see at a gas station, such as snacks, energy drinks and ice. read more

My first and last time coming here. Went there for a family trip. Everyone was having a decent time until one of the worker was told by "someone" that a group of colored people are over fishing. Well guess what, out of the 4 people that fished in my family, we managed to catch a whopping 8 crappies over 2 days. Someone at the camp ground pointed to our site and accused us that we are the group of colored people that are not following the fishing limit and that the worker needed to question us. My uncle was questioned for 30 mins because of it. We all stopped fishing after that and packed up super early the next morning and got the hell out of there since we no longer felt comfortable being there. Felt like we were being watched and targeted. Oh and All the showers were broken in the women's bathroom! On one good note, then grass at the site was really nice. read more

We stayed there for a week. I would recommend the upper level sites as they are spacious with gravel grass and extra parking . The site map on their web site is misleading as there isn't much sandy beach offered and the water is murky. It is a great place for fishing though. Highly recommend renting a golf cart for your stay since the resort is fairly large. The cafe/bar is a nice option and they had live music while we were there. The bathrooms and sites were clean. It would be a great place for large groups as they have a lot of options for everyone. read more

Super disappointed in this place. It is a much better idea to stay at the public launch for free. The "beach house" restaurant was a letdown. The first time I ate here it was delicious. Service sucked and took about an hour to get our food... But I get it, it was busy. My boyfriend didn't get his beer until after his meal-after reminding the waitress two times. The guy next to us just canceled his drink order because it was taking so long. The second time I ate here was a disaster. It was Memorial Day weekend but the restaurant was not busy when we went- about 6:30. Our angry looking waitress with the winged eyeliner took our drink orders and never came back. 20 minutes passed and another waitress came- this time a friendly one. She brought us our drinks and we ordered. She brought out one appetizer but not my salad that I said I would like as an appetizer as well. After half an hour she brought the other three people in my group their main course food and me a salad. My salad was all brown lettuce that looked like it had sat out for a couple of days. The salami on top looked rotten. I couldn't believe they would serve this. I waited for the waitress to come back but 10 minutes went by... And my group had finished eating. I went in and waited. And waited. And waited. And I heard the waitress with the winged eyeliner tell this guy that she didn't want to be there. She said "I debated telling my boss my son got bit by a dog so I didn't have to come in today!" She then complained to this guy and told her how much she hated people. Then she offered him a free beer. Super unprofessional. She just ignored me. So finally I put my not edible said on the counter and told her I needed to see the manager. Another waitress came up and asked me what was wrong. I showed her my salad and told her I had not gotten my main course. I saw my main course just sitting at the counter. So she gave it to me. It was cold. I was starving. Then the manager "Steve" came over and said "how come you didn't like your salad?". I asked him if he saw it. He said he took it off my bill ($5) and walked away. I was so disappointed in this service and will not be returning. I wrote an email to the resort and have not received a reply since Memorial Day. I will make sure to spread the word about the service I received. read more

Unless you have a boat, forget it. And if you plan on tent camping get ready to be, literally, spitting distance to strangers. I've never, in the scores of campgrounds I've been to in my life, never have seen any so damn crammed together. I would expect something like from a state facility, but not a privately owned "resort". Unbelievable. And even the trailer-homes they rent are so bloody close together, it's crazy. This is not what we expected from the nature of the website. They do some very cleaver ommitting. They say the have a "swimming" area. Turns out is a TINY, TINY roped off area right next to a boat launch. And there is really no place to put a towel, hang out by the water. A small space if you have a beach chair, but the area is muddy. That's what I was saying, unless you have a boat, forget about the water. Now the "motel rooms". On the website you see what looks like cabins on the outside, motel room on the inside. Outside each room has it's own picnic table, complete with nice wooden dividers between each room to give some privacy. Those are the "front" rooms. The BACK rooms on the other side face the HIGHWAY. NO tables, no dividers, nothing. But they don't tell you that. All they say on the website is that "some rooms with lake views". But you can't tell where the lake is in relation to the rooms anyway. When I made my reservation, I wasn't told that our room was on the BACKSIDE. I also was not told that our room did NOT have a kitchenette. In fact ,I called to confirm that the room had a small fridge. And the gal took my name (checking what room I was in)...and said yes, the room does have a fridge. When we arrived not only was I surprised to be facing the highway (15 ft away), but our room did not have a have a kitchenette. It was barely big enough for the 2 twin beds in it. We barely had room to put our stuff and still have a clear path to the bathroom.The bathroom door opened into the room so that you couldn't open it and walk past the 2nd bed at the same time. No room. So we show up with no plates or flatwear, because it said the rooms/kitchenttes came with that stuff. we just happned to bring a Coleman stove because we wanted to cook-outside on the picnic table - that now we don't have. But we didn't bring any pots or pans as they were also to be provided. I do have to acknowledge they did (2 hours later) offer us a room that came available with a kitchntt. But by this time we had purchased cookware and plastice wear at their general store. They did bring us a picnic table as well. Though when I mentioned not having a picnic table the owner's response was "well, I've NEVER stayed in a motel room with a picnic table". WELL, this IS a campground and on your website you show pictures of your motel rooms WITH picnic tables outside. You are advertising that you have picnic tables outside of each room. The showers were a joke. I certainly didn't expect accomodations like the Merriot, but if you are going to charge motel prices ($70/night), you better damn well have BASIC decent motel accomodations. The shower head was the circumference of my thumb and the pressure was barely enough to wash your hair. Again I know we are at a camground ultimately, but I would expect more from a privately owned "resort". Also one other minor issue. They mention certain dog breeds that are not permitted at the resort. My friend owns one of them, so she boarded her dog. Another family 2 doors down had what was very obvisously a pitbull, one of the breeds mentioned. No one said a word to them and security had been around several times with the dog in plain sight. Not a "bad" place, but just be aware of the things I mentioned. Ask lots of questions before you book. read more

We go to MarDon every year for 4th of July for my families annual camping trip. It is overcrowded during the holidays but with the boats, we can escape the crowds. What mainly made me mad this year was how rude the staff in the shop were. I was shocked and appauled when the two older employees there made awfully rude remarks when I asked if they had a float key chain with"MarDon Resort"on it. I live in Boise, ID and I was so excited to take this souvenir back to my home towns lake so that I could chat up other people about how awesome this spot in Washington is. Now, I have no interest in doing that after the way the staff there laughed at me and offered to write the name of their Resort on a key chain then charge me $1.00 more. I will still go there for my family but I will forget that shop is there. I would rather skip the dock and erase that memory for future trips to Potholes. Ill treatment of customers is not how you get people to come back. read more

We stayed in one of the nicely appointed cottages, with a nice kitchen, living room, dish network tv's, nice clean bathrooms, separate bedroom, and a covered outdoor deck. We couldn't have been more happy with the accommodations. The staff was super friendly. We had club sandwiches and burgers at the Beach House, which were superb, and they served up good cold beer with a smile. The sun sets here are to die for. Highly recommended! We will be coming back here for sure! read more

I did not/ and do not stay and play at Mar Don, although, they do rent boats, have a playground, cabins and campsites available. I travel with a group of loners and prefer the remote offerings of the Seep Lakes. Mar Don has everything. You can get cooked to order breakfast, lunch or dinner to go from their full service restaurant. You can buy your fishing license, bait and tackle as well. They have a small grocery/sporting/convenience store with some really great maps of the lakes in the surrounding areas. This has been my "stop and buy everything" spot for 15 or so years, when I am camping in the area at the lakes. Whoever is working the register always knows what fish is biting where, and happy to share the information. If you are in the moment, and you forgot whatever you forgot, this place ALWAYS has it. read more

I reserved a rental home called Anna's Place for 4 days this past weekend. There was 6 adults in our party. Their website states it sleeps 6. What a total joke !!! When I got there, all this place was was a single wide trailer. It had 2 small bedrooms with no door separating them and in order to get to the bathroom, you would have to come through someone's bedroom !! Absolutely NO PRIVACY !!!! Sure, there was a pull out sofa that could sleep 2 more people but again, no privacy for 6 adults. Thankfully 2 of the adults in our party happened to have a tent so they just camped nearby. Additionally, we spent most of the time swatting flies as it was completely infested inside the trailer. I think there is something decaying underneath the structure because there were a million flies outside that would swoop in when someone opened the screen to go in and out. I would NOT recommend this "Rental Home" for $130/night to sleep with no privacy and constantly battle with flies. YUCK !!!! read more

Well I would like to say I enjoyed my visit to mardon resort. I spent almost $600 on a cottage and when I got there it was ANT INFESTED and they obviously knew about it cause there were dead ants everywhere. Not just a few ants there were thousands. All over the counter, on the stove the floor the bathroom and in our BEDs!!!!!! The staff was very rude and didn't even apologize or discount our rate. We would've just left but didn't want to ruin Father's Day weekend with the kids. I just can't believe u spend that kind of money and don't get even an apology!!!!! This is very bad business and I will never rent or return there again . I even had friends wanting to know how the cottages were cause they possibly wanted to rent in the future but everybody I know will now be finding out the truth and they will be losing a lot of top notch business trips. And I think it's pretty funny that business use yelp to get rid of bad reviews so if you want your bad reviews to show on here then give them a five star rating. Pictures of the resort are not actual pictures of the layout. The space I reserved looked like a grassy area. But it was sand and gravel. It sucks with having a guy directly behind you with an airboat that he had to start and show off every hour. The place is extremely loud and crowded. Won't be staying there ever again. read more

Mardon resort is obviously a business who cares a little bit more about the money then the guests. We rented one of their houses for 3 nights for $318 per night. This rental was called the Duck shack and it was clearly only worth maybe $100 maybe a little bit less a night. With the money that they make off of this place they can clearly afford to update it. We rented it because of the wifi, the TV, the air conditioning and the room. The wifi was very very weak, the TV was broke, one of the showers was broke so everybody had to use the bathroom in the master room, the kitchen was clean kinda but very very outdated. I ripped my pants on one of the nails that was sticking out of the wall. And there were several of those around the house. The carpet was ripped up in places and there were bugs all over dead bugs and live bugs, the patio needed to be rebuilt at least fixed up a little bit. And there wasn't extra blankets or extra pillows for anybody just one for bed per person and the staff were not very accommodating for us. The maintenance guy told us that he was going to come back twice and never came back at all... and then they act annoyed when we asked them what is there to do around there like we should know, but we have never been there before. The area is beautiful.. Mardonn resort is cramped..I mean right in your yard there's probably six campsites all around your house! You have no privacy at all... campsites were inches from each other. I would definitely stay at the State Park if you want to visit potholes. The water was very very warm! that was the best part of the whole trip! But we will not be back to this place! read more

I habe been going here since I was a young kid. The three stars are for the price. It's fine to charge a lot if the cabins are worth it. They are nice but clean absolutely not. Stuff is always missing, broken not or working and most of the staff is amazing but some act like your invading their turf. Between my brother and I, we caught hundreds of fish, every panfish, trout, bass and even carp. We have many fond memories here. Even my son, now 22 still talks about how much he loves coming here. Most recently stayed in the motel on Memorial Day weekend. Yes, it's old and very very outdated, but compare apples to apples, it's not a bad place to stay, I certainly have stayed in worse for more money. They now have nice cabins and cottages for the affluent and faint of heart. I still love going to the store and eating at the cafe. A lot has changed in the 30 years I've been coming here, and there have been so many improvements, but I still think the Mesebergs are doing a good job at creating a place that builds memories and is fun to be. read more

We stayed at Mar Don resort this weekend. It was an absolutely disgusting experience. The bathrooms were terrifying. Feces and urine on the floor, the bathrooms weren't cleaned at all during our stay. When we woke up in the morning there was no toilet paper in the restrooms. The price is outrageous and they charge you for every little thing, including having your dogs with you. The only good thing I have to say is that I liked to be able to camp right on the water. read more
