The pizza is good, but be sure to order fresh mushrooms... if you don't they will be from a can. This is a great place for a large group. They have a very nice, newly remodeled side room that works great for groups from 10 - 30. I ordered a pizza by phone last night and the process was so fast and person so friendly. I was happy when I hung up and even happier when I went to pick it up. This Italian joint has really become a local favorite for my hubs and I for a nice local date night. Very delicious homemade tasting Italian food. This place has been here for decades. You really can't go wrong with anything you order here, but it seems we have our favorites each time we go; cheese bread with meat sauce, half order spaghetti and meatballs for me, and my husband waivers with the linguine alle vongole and the manicotti. One of my other favorite touches is the homemade salad dressing on the salads. Mmmmm. Very reasonable prices and a super relaxed family atmosphere. It always amazes me that all of the kids you see there are so well behaved. It's kind of cool to know that it's a locals spot (for good reason) and families frequent it. I grew up off of Lake Jennings so I always went to Marechiaro's off of Old Hwy 80 and i always remember it being good. I recently moved to El Cajon so I decided to try the one of off 2nd st. I called in my order, 1 meatball sandwich & 1 Torpedo, which was very convenient and was told my food would be ready in 10 minutes. I got there a short time afterwards and it sounded like the cook had messed up my order so i had to wait a short while for my order, I didn't have a problem with this. What kind of irked me though was the fact that the guy, may have been the owner or a manager, who was ringing me up seemed less then happy. He was short with me and seemed like he just wanted to send me on my way. Then i got my total...$16.74!!! WHAT! FOR 2 SANDWICHES?! Seemed a bit absurd to me... well i went home and the sandwiches were less then delicious. The meatball sandwich wasn't very good...i had to keep switching between the meatball & torpedo. The torpedo wasn't bad...but it wasn't fantastic. The only thing i can say i loved was their ranch.... It's a cute 3 room restaurant with booths, tables, and belly tables. Great for dinner with the family, date night with your babe, or a drink with friends. They have takeout as well. It was done when we got there, well I waited in the car and he went inside to get the order, he was in and out no problems. Before I start with the food let me say that they have the BEST customer service of any restaurant I've ever been to. My wife and I were in awe with the professionalism and courtesy of the employees. Our waitress Janine (sp?) came by our table every few minutes to make sure we had everything we needed. I got the mixed ravioli with the red sauce and it was superb. I was very disappointed with the pizza I had. Half was mushroom (fresh, they ask you if you'd like fresh or canned ) seriously ???!!!!! And sausag, the other half was fresh mushroom and ham. That half had very very little ingredients while the other half had them all . I really think I could've gotten a better pizza from 7/11. They also charged me a dollar for each ranch dressing I asked for. Not worth the time it took to drive there, the bad parking, or the money I spent on it. From the outside it doesn't look like much but once you go in you will be pleasantly surprised. Wait staff is awesome and my drink is never more than half empty. Now for the good stuff! THE FOOD! My favorite is the white pizza. If u love caprese salad u will go ga ga over this pizza. I ask for fresh basil and balsamic on the side to put on this pizza and its out I this world. This Italian restaurant I've been going to since 1991 maybe even earlier than that. So I go last night and I pick up a personal cheese pizza. Now the owners in the kitchen so I figured things are going to be good like they usually are I was wrong. I get home the cheese pizza was so disgusting it was dry no sauce completely tasteless even with the whole package of red pepper on it. Now I'm upset because I have to call back the restaurant that I've Loved for so many years and tell them how disgusting their Pizza is not only did I pay for it but I came all the way from Alpine to get it. I hosted a baby shower here for my son and daughter-in-law and 65 guests this past November 10. The back banquet room was already set up beautifully with glass and dinnerware when we got there early to decorate. Guests arrived, games were played and lunch was served on time, starting with fresh, crisp Antipasto and Caesar salads deliciously dressed in Marechiaro's homemade dressing, along with buttery toasted garlic bread, soon followed by cheesy pepperoni/mushroom pizza, the works pizza packed with pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage and onions, and 2 pastas - lasagna filled with smooth ricotta cheese and jumbo cheese ravioli in a scrumptious creamy Salsa Rosa tomato sauce (I highly recommend this sauce). The staff was always there for everyone, keeping soda and water pitchers constantly filled, catering to the wants and needs of any guest and totally helpful with everything I needed and requested. This party couldn't have turned out any better, with much gratitude and big thanks to the staff and Pasquale, and a HUGE thanks to Theresa who was constantly there for me with her help and totally on top of EVERYTHING!! Now I must admit here, that I'm not 100% sure her name is Theresa. She did introduce herself to me when I first got there, but....I had quite a bit of the "grape" that afternoon!
