I called first thing in the morning and was able to get in with in the hour. The studio is very easy to find and conveniently located. When I came in I was greeted with smiles by the owner and she sat me right away. She was pleasant and very informative! She explain to me what was going on with my hair and gave me some information that I never knew. She washed my hair, cut the smallest amount off and even blew dry/styled it for me and taught me a new way to style my hair. I love the results! And the customer service was exceptional. She really took the time to explain what she was doing, how she was doing it and to teach me a new way to approach the styling of my hair:) Her mannerisms and care really came through her work. After months of being unable to cut my hair, I finally had it today. My hair was starting to look stringy and very unhealthy from using boxed color to dye my roots. I called the stylist I usually go to, but she informed me she was booked through July. I stumbled across Margeaux's Beauty Studio while looking for a hair salon in my area. I called the number and as I was leaving a message, she called me right back. I informed her that for some time now I wanted to cut my hair short; something more sophisticated. As luck would have it, she had a last minute cancellation and was able to see me within a half hour. Margeaux is the real deal. She educated me that because of my round face I couldn't go as short as I had initially planned. There was something about her and I knew she was the person who was meant to cut my hair. The haircut turned out better than I ever expected. Not only does the haircut fit my face frame, but it also looks super healthy and I look younger! As soon as I met Missy, I knew she was the hairstylist for me. A friend of mine, Missy's long time client, introduced us at a retro event and as soon as I laid my eyes on her finger waves, vintage dress and gloves, I knew she'd be my hairstylist. So she took my appointment, and proved that destiny was on my side. I hadn't gotten cut or colored in a salon for months after my last girl, well, we won't get into that. Anyway, I went to her looking a tad bit dreadful. Hair limp, color (from a box) faded, ends ragged as hell. Missy sat me down and I told her what I wanted, super red hair, clean up the cut, and make me look all purty. She whipped up a batch of the good stuff, put me under the dryer and, being that it was just the two of us in the cute and cozy salon, she pulled up a chair next to me and talked retro fashion. I didn't even need the required magazine. Then, she proceeded to take me to THE MOST COMFORTABLE SHAMPOO CHAIR IN THE WORLD to rise me out. Finally, she trimmed me up, blew me out, then curled my mop to make it look like a cross between me and Rita Hayworth. And I was out the door inside an hour and a half and paid 30% less than I used to with that other girl who didn't have me feeling as great as when I said good bye to Missy. Melissa is super nice and friendly. She is also super busy so only goes by appointments. I had to wait a week to get scheduled in. I have to admit, my expectations were quite high, given her excellent status on Yelp. But given my bad experiences with other hair salons, I guess deep down inside I really didn't expect miracles to happen or anything. I brought like 10 different photos with me - hair styles I liked and ones I didn't like (i.e. The "Rachel" being one of them). I sat down with her and felt very comfortable, told her I had bad experiences with going to the salon, and she sympathetically nodded. I think Melissa is SO different than other salons/stylists I've been to b/c she sits there and actually listens to you, stops cutting every now and then and asks for your opinion, if there's anything else you'd like her to do... I was quite frankly blown away. I came out with 4-5 inches off my head (thank God) and the bottom was layered nicely and since my hair is naturally wavy, the layers + my waves worked out well. When I got home, I realized just how wavy/short my hair is... it looked a lot longer at the salon. I kept telling her to cut more, but she was hesitant and advised me to wait until next time. What hair dresser says things like that?? Awesome. The only thing is, I wished it were a tad thinner at the bottom, but it's partly my fault for not speaking up when she asked if I wanted to do anything else before finishing up. In my defense however, my hair was still wet and didn't dry until I got home, hence more thickening at the bottom. I have a beauty hero and her name is Melissa. I found Melissa on Yelp and gave her a ring to help get rid of my fading brown dye job and take me back to blonde. She penciled me in for a few days later on a Sunday night. The salon is very clean, modern and welcoming. Melissa is a sweetheart, easy to talk to, oh, and she's a genius! Within an hour and a half she turned my (always in a ponytail) mousy hair into a cute bouncy blond shoulder-length bob. I walked out of the salon feeling like a supermodel. I've gotten tons of compliments about my hair ever since, and people always say the same thing, "She did a REALLY good job!" Plus, it's the perfect cut for my low-maintenance self. It dries quickly and looks cute even when I don't have time after my workout to do anything to it. I can't stop exclaiming, "Why don't I keep my hair this length all the time?!" So yes, of course, I definitely recommend Melissa. Go, you will love her. She's a nice breath of fresh air in a city full of snooty, I'm-cooler-than-you stylists. I've been going to Melissa at The Beauty Studio for almost two years now and I can't believe I haven't yelp'ed her yet. Melissa is the real deal: a gifted stylist who uses quality products, affordable, kind, and has a real sense of style. I initially found Melissa via Yelp and let me tell you all these 5 star reviews don't lie: she's that good. Most of all, she really cares about running a good business and giving you great service. First off, Melissa has a cool spot at the Beauty Studio and most of the time your appointment is private. So not only do you get her full attention, but it's a relaxing, beautiful atmosphere with high ceilings and retro furniture. She also offers water, coffee, tea and wine complimentary. What could be more relaxing than sitting in a beautiful spot, all private, and sipping on some wine while you get your hair styled? Melissa always uses quality products and is happy to tell you exactly what she's using on your hair. She uses Redken and CHI products mainly, no mystery bleach or cheap stuff here. She never pushes you to buy products like some salons do. She'll make suggestions if you ask, but it's so refreshing not to be pushed to buy products at large salon mark-ups. She made my hair way healthier by advising me to stop brushing it with a paddle brush while wet. I go to Melissa for blonde highlights and a basic long, layered cut. Melissa is an expert hair colorist. She's always able to give me -exactly- the color I'm looking for and she's happy to adjust/fix my hair if I change my mind or the color doesn't come out exactly as I expect. She's a perfectionist and does an amazing job. I have very dark brown hair and she lifts me up to a natural-looking, honey blonde. I have never seen so many foils used for highlights in my life. She's a master. She must put several hundred foils on my head for a partial highlight, using at most 20 strands of hair in each. The result is gorgeous and for the first time in my life my dark-brown to blonde hair feels healthy! I get compliments all the time for my color and many people believe it's natural. Melissa is a top quality hair stylist/colorist, the best I've ever been to, and yet she charges the least I've ever paid to get my hair done. She's very affordable for the quality of service you're getting. It's a great deal. Yes, she costs more than SuperCuts, but the quality is a 100 times better. The best thing about Melissa is that despite being a stylist in LA, she's not snooty at all. She's kind, sweet, and talking to her is easy. She always remembers customers. She has an amazing sense of personal style and taste that I totally admire. She's always offering me tips on cool places to check out in LA. I also know that's she's active in a bunch of charitable causes. She's definitely one of the nicest, most genuine, and hardworking entrepreneur's I've ever known. I'm so lucky I found her. I know this all sounds too good to be true, but give Melissa a try and I'm sure you'll love her too. 2 weeks ago, I found Margeux's Beauty Studio on Yelp because I was procrastinating on getting a haircut ever since the summer, and was looking for a place that wasn't pretentious, and wouldn't cost $65-$100 haha After talking to Margeux on the phone, I was going to be able to come in the same day, which was amazing, but I ended up having to come in the next day, which was still the best! The studio is decently sized, though it's not crowded and everyone takes all the necessary precautions, so it's very safe. Margeux was extremely kind, helpful, and easy to talk to, I loved our conversations. She's also very skilled at her craft. My whole life, I've had a middle part, just because for some reason it was just what felt right, and people have always told me it's odd. Though Margeux kindly explained to me in "hair terminology" how it doesn't exactly work with the way my hair naturally wants to go, so she suggested a side part. At first, I was skeptical because it was so new to me, even though it looked great, but then the idea started to grow on me. This was probably because of the great way Margeux explained it to me. I don't get haircuts that often, though this is probably the best I can remember. $30 was a perfect price for me, especially since a lot of hair was cut off. After my haircut, I actually was contacted for a job interview, and got the job less than an hour and a half later. I've also gotten tons of compliments and have definitely felt more confident, so something was magical in the air at Margeux's Beauty Studio haha I'll definitely be coming here again for the next time I need a haircut! read more

I really wanted this to work out because the reviews were highly promising and gave a gal like me hope that there is a person out there who can do hair. Melissa is very personable, charming and very easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. She asked the right questions regarding how I wanted my hair to look but unfortunately things didn't work out. I'm not a high maintenance gal but she spent 20 minutes max on my hair. I had to fake smile when she asked me to look at my hair at the end of the session. My hair is butchered and I now have to make an appointment with my previous hair stylist so she can fix my hair- a double dent on my wallet. =( Because Melissa was a kind lady, I still gave her and the lady who washed my hair a generous tip but I definitely won't be coming back here. read more

So Melissa was recommended to me by a friend who has been going to her for a while. And I have to say, there is a REASON she is getting such stellar reviews on here! She is awesome. The Color: I am very very picky about my hair. I have dark brown hair and have been to many many stylists over the years. From all those years of experience I have learned that when you are lightening brown hair to a brown/blonde mix, it is VERY hard to find that perfect balance. VERY hard to make sure the hair doesn't look ashen or orange while still looking natural. So when you find someone who can do that, NEVER LET THEM GO! The Experience: So in the vein of being an honest and loyal Yelper, I am obligated to tell you that I was not at all happy with the way my hair turned out the first time she did it. It was much much blonder than I had wanted even though I had brought in a picture of exactly what I wanted. But HERE'S the thing guys! She was SO wonderful and willing to fix it. Got me right in (and even offered to come in late or on her off days if I needed it fixed, so nice of her!) and fixed it to perfection! My friend who recommended her told me she had the same experience of being unhappy the first time and going back in for tweaks, then it's been perfect ever since. Which is just fine by met if it takes that first time for her to understand what I am looking for, because she was so great about fixing it. Isn't Melissa DA BOMB or what?! After all the 5 stars review, I went to Melissa for a loose perm. I have been struggling about getting a perm from someone that I never been to- but after the consultation, i had such a great feeling about Melissa, I was so sure that my perm will come out great this time- And it did!!! disregarded the fact that i cant wash it within the first 48 hrs... that sucks especially these days have been REELY hot~ and i kinda accidentally wet the back when i took a shower, with a grocery bag on, and there was a hole on it that i didnt see... stupid me~ anyways... my hair is looking GRRRREAT today after the 48 hours wait !!!
