Hubbers said we most likely won't find whatever those things were, but thought, "let's give it a shot and check it out anyway." And he was right: I didn't find what I wanted to get. But since we were already here, I thought we'd walk around anyway in case we do find something we might have liked. Typical of most malls in the US, but it gave me more of malls how it was maybe back in the '90's, early '00's. There's the expected food court, Liverpool (sorta like a step below Macy's or Kohl's like store), other independent shoe and clothing store, etc. Nothing really stood out to even slightly tickle my interests. Good run, though... but not sure I'd come back.

For example, I did a facial laser treatment and wanted to pick up some new facial soap that wasn't harsh on the skin. A small bottle of cera ve costs $20 and a 20-pill bottle of Tylenol was over$10. But I purchased a nice purse, big enough to hold my iPad, by a Mexican company that was $100 and I received a gift card back for a future purchase. So if you're purchasing Mexican products, it's great. But anything outside of that is quite expensive. I will say that they had a huge variety of products. It's two stories and some of the staff speak English. Otherwise, connect to WiFi and use Google Translate. It's been a lifesaver.

We swung by and ended up with a cart full of stuff that I swear would have cost us $600+ back home, but somehow only ran us $387 here. Was wild...and impressive! We were able to stock up on all the things from meats, eggs, tortillas, snacks, drinks, cups, etc...only thing we were a tad disappointed in was the liquor selection and the fact that they did not have any spray sun block. This place was busy, even for a Thursday morning. Locals and tourists alike, but they kept the lines moving! Costco is the spot. No major complaints. Great location for us, stellar store and trip!

Adj: Super Sufficient for Souvenirs!…read more This is the "famous" Walmart in Puerto Vallarta, (State of) Jalisco in Mexico. Every (or most) Mexican Riviera cruise stops at this port. After a full and fun day walking along the boardwalk/ocean front of PV, we stopped here for some souvenirs. This is the place to come for some little knick knacks pattywacks to bring home for loved ones and friends to bring them back little gifts and this Walmart definitely had a whole bunch of the keychains, little shot glasses, and other cutesy types of gifts. The store also had everything you'd expect from a Walmart from food fresh and pantry-shelf-stable, to clothing and shoes, to candies and snacks, to electronics and home appliances, to toys (esp. water toys and beach favorites) and games. Service was efficient and friendly with my very limited Spanish (they're used to tourists, I'm sure), so checkout was quick and easy. Overall, this Walmart was big, clean, and nice and neat and the prices were significantly better than the souvenir gift shops that are obviously tourist traps right at the cruise terminal, so a short walk here was worth it, even though we took a taxi on the way back to the cruise ship from the boardwalk, we did walk back to the ship after shopping here.

Bordering a Sam's Club (#1), it is strategically located near the Marina in the heart of Zona Hotelera and the Marina Vallarta (#2). Besides buying cheap'ish PV trinkets, magnets, memorabilia, this also serves as a place for toiletries, personal supplies, and even the occasional emergency beachwear. Americans love the place even more when they find it's excellent for air conditioning, accepts credit cards, has bathrooms and ATMs. What they don't have is good customer service. Quality interactions at Walmart should never be expected but the effort seems to be minimal across the board. A few other things to know is that the pricing is on part with the US and there are no fitting areas. Lastly, what's a Walmart without immense parking? There are plenty of spots, but it's not free. The 24 hour lot is $12MXN per hour and lost tickets can cost as much as $80MXN. Leave the bus stop for locals and the walking for the rest. I found myself somewhat "gently-pushed" into this place by my lady friend and daughter, on a couple of occasions, to try on some of their offerings. I was told at first that daughter wanted to buy a piece of 'exotic' underwear as an office-party gift, and she wanted me to model a few pieces - ouch!! Then later, was asked to try on some of the beachwear. I figured they were up to more than they were telling me, and quite sure (though they tried to hide such from me) three pieces of such apparels were actually purchased, after all the trying on and the evaluations and comments were made!! I suspected that two pieces might be destined for me (as gifts for my soon to come birthday and Christmas). But regardless of the intent, it turned out to be a lot of fun, and the salespeople (both women, at the times we were there) were sure good sports about it all, and actually very helpful to the cause. And yes, I did get two pieces as gifts - one very see-through piece of underwear, and one quite cool & sexy bathing suit (in a bright yellow/orange!!). I still have both, wear them on 'special' occasions, and the latter wearings always trigger some "fond & fun" memories of the times in Vallarta when they were auditioned and purchased. The shop actually sells some pretty hot stuff - not that I have the necessary physique to really show it off!! But if you're looking for a bathing suit to wear during your stay, or just to bring home for other times, it's a great little place, with lots of cool offerings.
