This was an quick lunch stop for our family a few months ago, while we were visiting the Denver, CO community. We decided to order a couple chicken and beef empanadas. This Argentina restaurant offers a full menu with delicious selections. The staff employee that took our order was very friendly and helpful. Our overall experience was excellent, and everything we ordered was very delicious .

We wanted to pick up a small snack on the way to the airport for our flight out and Maria Empanada, a stall in Stanley Marketplace, seemed like the right fit. They have a wide selection of tantalizing empanada flavors in the easily visible display cases in front. I wanted to try a bunch of them, but ended up selecting only one: Diego ($5.45) - This is an approximately 5.5 inch puck of dough densely filled with a tasty shredded chicken mixture, folded over, and baked. The crust is pleasant to bite into, although not particularly flaky or buttery. It isn't baked as much as other Argentinean empanadas I've eaten, being mostly golden brown, but without any darker bubbly spots. The interior is packed with braised and shredded chicken mixed with onions, red pepper, and chimichurri. The chicken is very flavorful with an earthy and smoky spice mixture with just a tiny bit of heat. It isn't tough at all, but is very dry. The onions still have a bit of a crunch to them and the chimichurri, while pleasantly green in color and slightly herbal in taste, isn't especially fragrant and doesn't seem to contribute too much to the overall taste. All of the oil and vinegar seems to have been drained out before mixing with the meat, so the chimichurri doesn't provide any additional moisture inside. Overall, I can tell there are some very nice flavors in the empanada, but it's way too dry to eat by itself. Given how dry it is, the restaurant should consider giving extra chimichurri on the side to pour into the empanada while eating. (3/5) I was kind of underwhelmed by the empanada I ate due to how dry it was. I wonder if I just got one of the less popular flavors or something. Pricing also seems to be a bit on the high end for empanadas. I'm not sure I would return. Maria Empanada charges a 1% "SCBM" fee. I have no idea what that is.

Service was quick and friendly. We had heard good things about this place so we asked what their best sellers were and she said the ham and cheese. We were a little surprised because of all the different options and there were others that were more sold out than that one. She also said the beef so we opted to try that. I'm not sure if I just got a bad one but it didn't have any flavor to it. Just really beefy. It was fully loaded but it was hard to taste anything else. You could see vegetables but not taste. Maybe I'll have to try a different one if I go back.

Great spot for a quick bite. I wouldn't call it cheap but it's worth trying at least once. Growing up in San Jose, California, I ate a lot of empanadas and they were usually just a few bucks each. Seeing them priced around $5-6 here was a bit of a surprise. While tasty, one or two won't really fill you up. The filling itself was delicious and flavorful. The dough wasn't too heavy, which I appreciated. I tried the Argentina ($5.45) along with a side of Chimichurri sauce ($0.79) which the staff recommended. Honestly I wouldn't order the sauce again and the price felt a little steep for such a small cup. Overall the empanada had good flavor and made for a nice snack to hold me over until dinner.

We came here after eating our dinner. We really wanted to try this place out. I was going to just get dessert but the empanadas are so perfectly cooked and golden brown! They even have someone's signature on them! I mean who could resist! We ordered chorizo and spinach. We also got pistachio, traditional and the lemon sweets. We grabbed them to go. We didn't eat them for another 4 or 5 hours. We ate it at our hotel and wow!! Just wow!! They were perfect! They tasted so good. Everything tasted good even the sweets. We decided we are going to go back and try them fresh, instead of waiting. I mean waiting 4-5 hours and they were still amazing, I can't wait to eat them fresh!! The chorizo was my favorite! It wasn't just chorizo, it had potato in it as well! Their empanadas are definitely of great quality! The woman was so polite as well

I love empanadas! These were delicious and gave a homemade feel. I got the ham and cheese! It was loaded with cheese and had good chunks of ham. It was simple, yet flavorful. The service was quick and friendly, I will definitely be back to try more flavors.

Small shop in Stanley marketplace, selling a variety of empanadas including chicken, beef, vegetarian. Empanadas are pretty big, filled with good amount of ingredients. The order gets ready in a minute or so since they are already cooked. They are good snacks to grab while enjoying Stanley marketplace for few hours. Sauces are not free, but they are only 49c a piece. I didn't find the sauces complementary to the empanadas. Staff are friendly and helpful. They try their best to explain all the different types and some of the special things of some of the empanadas.

One word - delicious. Two words - worth it! Maria's is a take and go location inside Stanley Marketplace. There are a couple of cafe tables set up close to the order/pick up area as well - which is a cute touch. Maria's always has an amazing display of their empanadas, but I have never actually tried one. Maria's has lots of different empanadas to offer from breakfast, to sweet, to savory, to dessert. I ordered the Sierra empanada and my friend and I split the breakfast chorizo empanada. Both were tasty, crispy, warm, and flavorful. They were also labeled which was helpful when getting different varieties to try out. The empanadas were so good, we actually ordered one more - the Argentina -to split. The employees there were very friendly and kind. If there is a long line, there is a way to order online and pick up. We did this as it was a busy Friday in Stanley Marketplace. Can't wait to go back!

    The Napoli **NEW EMPANADA FLAVOR**

Decided to have some empanadas from this location for dinner while enjoying beverages and live music at a nearby establishment. Currently, Maria Empanada is offering a new empanada flavor - the Napoli. A delicious blend of tender Malbec braised steak, marinara sauce, mozzarella, red bell pepper, and oregano. Perfection! Too bad it is a limited offering. We ordered online and our order was ready and nicely packaged in a box. I always appreciate that Maria Empanada puts her signature empanada labels on the outside crust so there is no guessing when you order multiple flavors.

Maria Empanada stands out as one of the most inviting places to try just by walking around the Stanley Marketplace. You just won't want to pass it up...and if you do, you'll probably come back and give them a try. It's such a lovely display of empanadas and the entire place has such a good vibe. You'll see when you go there...and the people who work there are really nice. I had lunch at another place but on my way out took a couple of Maria's Emanada's to go! I had the Napoli and the Beef empanada. I liked the beef empanada, but I loved the Napoli empanada much more. There are quite a few varieties of empanadas...even dessert empanadas. You will certainly find some kind of filling that suits your taste buds. They have instructions to heat them up when they get home which were very helpful...350 degrees for 7-8 minutes. It wasn't quite enough in my oven but I finished them off for 30 seconds in the microwave and they were perfect. I like how each empanada has a little "brand" mark so you know which one you are eating. They have a couple of tables to eat right next to the storefront and you can easily find other tables around the Marketplace. They have discounts for larger orders. You'll have plenty of good food choices at the Stanley Marketplace, but don't leave without taking at least one Maria Empanada with you!!

Yummy yummy in my tummy. When I used to live in Greenwood Village CO there was a location right down the street in the DTC and I frequented it often whether it be for a client lunch or my own takeway dinner. I had heard the location shut down but to my surprise 3 more locations blossomed over the Denver metro area since then. We stopped in to this location which is nestled inside of a hip, modern outlet mall and it did not disappoint! The empanadas were so fresh, ridiculously tasty, and branded by the flavor accordingly. It was such a nice treat on our vacation! Highly recommend!

Friendly and quick service. Empanadas are tasty - I don't think you can go wrong with any of their flavors so just choose whatever sounds good to you. I liked the Argentina beef more than the chorizo one but both were solid. I did not have any issues with undercooked dough as other Yelpers have reported.

Chorizo Empanadas with Sweet Chili Mayo

We went with the Chorizo empanadas with sweet chili mayo (per the staff). Thoroughly enjoyed the empanada and all the crustiness and cheesiness (not the mayo). Will be back to try the others.

Despite the fact that it was completely dead, it took about 20 minutes to get two teeny, tiny empanadas. i was unsure if the guy was super unfriendly, didn't speak or understand english, didn't like his job, or a combo of the three. anyway, i opted for the ham & cheese & the chorizo, as all other options had onion - i am allergic to onion. rather disappointing, bc i wasn't (shockingly for me) in the mood for breakfast. the ham and cheese was amply filled and somewhat flavorful, but not great. the chorizo one was flavorful - it had a yummy spiciness to it, however it was lacking in the stuffing. i bit into it and it was only half-filled. for the price, you'd think they'd fill the darn things to capacity. the "shell/pocket" was disappointing in both taste and size - kinda tasted like a tortilla. nothing special. * size matters, people. don't let ANYONE tell you otherwise. pretty underwhelming and disappointing all around. service: 2/10 serving size: 1/10 taste: 3/10 i would not recommend - go to maria empanada instead.

Thanks to the big decal ("Empanada") on the front window that didn't escape my notice!! Good thing I was paying attention. This is a very small location. Even though I saw it, you can easily miss it. I truly hope that it's getting enough foot traffic. The young man upfront welcomed me. Upon entering, I was the only customer. He let me take my time to decide. I didn't feel rushed. I found my new favorite today: Chorizo Cheese and Egg. Had never had this flavor in the past as I had never seen it until today. Or is this a new flavor?? I pointed out to a tart looking sweet one in the glass showcase which the young man identified it as passion fruit tart. Sounded good. I settled on those two for to go. He, of course, put my savory in the oven toaster which he said would take about 5 minutes. He didn't put the savory and the sweet in the same container; he separated them. What a conscientious gesture! He saw me off with a warm/friendly smile with a pleasant "Thank you; have a good day!" After taking a few photos of the two, I immediately started savoring them. The Passion Fruit tart wasn't impressive and yet the right amount of sweetness tickled my sweet tooth to the touch. I wish I had tasted more passion fruit in it. The savory (chorizo/cheese/egg) however became my new favorite. Nice and gooey inside where the creaminess of the marinade can make a mess over your clothes if you are not careful. Lazo never fails to amaze me with the bestest ingredients and flavors no matter when. My perfect mid morning snack sent me to the next errand for the day. Much needed pick-me-up indeed!!

I'll admit; I am still new to this cuisine and yet I've been to a really good restaurant that boasts this type of food in the central Denver. Having that memory still fresh in mind, when I discovered this place accidentally today, there was no need for me to waste time to second guess about the food. The restaurant is easy to spot; its restaurant name is clearly on the front of the building with big letters. Its boastful existence to let people know about it is something I can appreciate. My anticipation was high due to its current ratings of near-perfect 5 stars. Whereas I've been to places where I truly thought they were simply overrated, I was under the impression that this place was an exception. Upon entering the eatery, a bright pastel colored mural (or wall painting I should say) with restaurant name on it was right in front of me. Its vividness - as if to say that it depicts the colorfulness of the dishes they serve - was a sure indication that it is a diverse restaurant with flavorful cooking. This also enhanced my anticipation. While I was taking some photos at the reception that was unmanned, a young lady eventually came to me with a welcoming voice. She then immediately asked me if I was there for a dine in or to go to which I said to go. The menu is a good size. Colored pictures with easy-to-understand dish name and the description, no person gets confused with what they have to offer. My intent was to get me a few small side dishes and yet as soon as I saw the "Paradise Plate" ($31.95 as of June 14, 2025), I was like, "why not?" even though I wasn't there to buy a huge plate to be shared with someone else. If you visit this place for the first time, this dish is recommended as it has everything. And the portion is huge (this can be easily split between two people.) The plate contains 3 traditional pupusas (which you'll be asked to choose from the traditional pupusa section), 1 chicken or pork tamale, 1 corn tamale, 1 savory empanada, fried yucca (2 pieces) and fried plantain (2 pieces) are all in 1 plate. On top of that, coleslaw type salad/veggie and red sauce accompanied the whole thing so when the young lady handed me my food, the plastic bag was quite the weight. Oh my goodness, what did I just get??? As a tradition of mine, as soon as I got to my car, I immediately opened the bag and then I was like oola la, I realized that I simply got waaaaaay too much food for one person. Sound like I was complaining and yet I was filled with unexplainable joy that filled my heart and mind. Some were deep-fried, some were pan-fried or oven-baked. However they were cooked, their rich and oily flavors with all kinds of spices and ingredients were all over my mouth. I ate some of it in 2 separate sittings and yet the container still had plenty of food left for me to morsel the next day. No wonder this place has 4.5 stars by people who experienced the goodness they offer. Let's not forget. The restaurant is a good size. It was clean. It's got some bar seating perfect for solo diners. I wonder how crowded it gets on a peak lunch or dinner time. Anyway, I am not sure how many (El) Salvadorian cuisine restaurants that exist in the greater Denver area and yet, this must be ranked one of the top 5 for sure. I may still like the one on Colorado Boulevard as it's a lot closer to my house (for a convenience reason), this place checks for great food and service. Whereas I thought some of the foods were a bit too oily to my liking, its overall food quality speaks for itself as to why people fancy this restaurant. For those who live in the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood, lucky them!
