    Bacon, Egg & Cheese - New !

Stopped in for a small bite on our way to another event and was not disappointed! A bacon, egg, and cheese empanada is just what the morning called for. This was an absolutely delicious treat. Service was quick and around $5 for a breakfast nosh, can't beat it! Having been to the one in Stanley Marketplace, I can't wait to revisit Maria Empanada on Broadway again!

We were just exploring Broadway and decided to stop in to Maria empanada, because we wanted a little snack, but not a heavy meal. Their menu is stacked, the names of each empanada are unique, I can't remember which one I went with by name, but it was chicken inside, and I got it with the garlic cilantro Crema. It was so delicious.! I almost went back and got another one. But instead, I tried their pistachio alfanores which was also super yummy and rich. Totally will come back to try more empanada varieties!

Stopped in for a quick to-go breakfast order between errands on a Saturday. Maria Empanada has plenty of options, and on this day, they had a new flavor: Bacon, Egg, & Cheese. It was filled with fluffy scrambled eggs, thick-cut bacon, a gooey blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, tomato, onion, and a touch of jalapeño. This empanada packed a ton of flavor, and I hope they keep it on the menu! Located on the NE corner at the intersection of S. Broadway and Louisiana, look for the bright golden sun painted on the side of the building. There is plenty of seating inside and patio seating on nice days. Walk up to the counter display to place your orders with the friendly employees who are happy to help or answer any questions you might have.

We have tried breakfast and other empanadas over the years and enjoy trying new flavors each time; have never been disappointed with any of the profiles we have tried; always the perfect blend of ingredients and spices.

Quickly writing aboit Maria's new flavor! Sweet BBQ far exceeded my expectations. This place is my go-to location of Maria E and each time I go here there is absolutely no disappointment or whatsoever. And I was surprised by a new flavor at my most recent visit there just yesterday and it is Sweet BBQ! I almost always get a few empanadas when I go to Maria E's and along with this new face, I got me one of my go-to's, Potato and Egg (I like their vegetarian options a lot.) And yet, this Sweet BBQ truly shocked me. In a way, it beat the Potato and Egg far exceedingly. The sweet bbq sauce that marinated the meat had the perfect sweetness. And the sauce was just the right amount where it didn't overpower the meat. The store was (as always) spotlessly clean. Service top-notch. There is something special about Maria for sure!

Recently, I visited Buenos Aires for the first time and absolutely loved it! I returned home yesterday and had this strong desire to visit Maria Empanada. So glad this business exists in the greater Denver area. It so reminds me of being back in Argentina and it will inspire me to return again soon. Today I ordered one of their new empanadas, Italiana. It didn't disappoint! I also had my favorite, Argentinian. Always on point! Cappuccino and a small dessert were a nice bookend. I wish Maria would put a location in Castle Rock. Fingers crossed. LOVE this place!!

Loved this concept! Store was clean and staff were welcoming and helpful. The empanadas were delicious. We chose to get a 6 pack. They were easy to reheat and were very tasty.

I am particularly fond of Maria Empanada as a place to buy empanadas. During a break from work, I visited the location, as it was nearby, and savored a delicious empanada. Regrettably, the empanadas were dry and flavorless, but the alfajores were delightful and sweet. I will give them another try in the near future since these are favorite Argentine empanadas in town.

These empanadas are so tasty! This time we had the potato and egg ones. Toddler approved and we even got a second one cause she loved it so much.

Very clean and welcoming cafe like feel! Friendly staff who even came over to say hi to our baby. I think we tried almost every flavor. Next time we visit Denver we will be back!

Ok, so my dad and I were making a road trip from LA to KC and as we were driving through Denver we decided that Maria Empanada would be a good lunch spot for us. And I'll be honest...I've been wanting to try the empanadas since it was featured on Triple D and our road trip was the perfect opportunity! Dad wasn't 100% sure about it but figured why not...and was very pleased with our lunch! We ended up ordering the Argentina, the Diego, and the Beef empanadas and OMG. The sauces and the giant empanadas were delicious! You go up to the counter and see the amazing spread of empanadas and just...I wish Maria Empanada was local so I could try alll the empanadas. The staff were awesome with answering questions about the various options - granted it's been a year so I have no idea what questions I actually asked. Next time I'm in Denver, I'm definitely gonna find a way to come back and try other options!

What a beautiful shop and cafe! I love how each location has unique charm and is a little different. At first I saw all the tables and was worried that I couldn't get to go food but then I saw a line. It was lunch time and there were people dining in as well as grabbing to go at the counter. I love the high quality of their food! My current obsession is their chorizo espanola and a berries and chocolate Alfajore with a cold brew! It's the perfect snack for being on the go and at a great price point. Tastes healthy and delicious. I've now been to 4 of their locations - Colfax, Stanley Marketplace, LoHi and now SoBo! It's really nice to be able to grab this treat when out and about cat-sitting in the different neighborhoods!

(Yerba) Mate Tea service + empanadas
    Alexis Y.

I haven't tried enough empanadas in my lifetime to give you a good comparison but I thought they were good. They ask if you want them heated up to eat there. BUT, if you have never tried (yerba) mate service, aka pour your own mate tea, you are missing out!!! It was so fun. Perfect for a hang out with your friends while drinking tea. There's a little step-by-step card to show you how to prepare it. Pretty much you don't want all the small tea leaves and dust to go through the filter straw. It doesn't necessarily taste like canned yerba mate, but if you add enough sugar, it almost does. It gets bitter if you let it steep for too long. They give you lots of tea leaves, enough for 4+ cups. By the end, you'll have yourself a nice caffeine buzz. There's a large TV that's playing soccer if that's your sort of thing. If you like tea time, you gotta come try. So worth.

We shared two desserts--the Media Luna de Limon for our friend who is gf and df, and the rest of us shared the brownie with coffee ice cream which was incredible--warm and just the right size if you want just 1-2 bites (between three of us) of something sweet.

Milanesa de Carne (3/5) - I got a half order, the portion is pretty big, the bread was pretty good, but the breaded steak was pretty dry. Overall the sandwich tasted pretty bland without added chimichurri sauce. Choripan (2/5) - the lettuce in this sandwich looked very sad, also the sausage (cut in halves) was so small, half the sandwich was empty. Would not recommend. The service was so poor we had to keep requesting items-only to see them go to other tables and not ours. I requested "bone-in ribeye" 5x, and almost 2 hrs later one did show up, but not after half the table was done. Several orders of pichana were so overly done that it could have passed for beef jerky. Often the signature fat cap was left off as the gaucho cut the piece top to bottom. It's not like the selections were not ready, we could clearly see them making their way through the restaurant, only to be thwarted a few tables away. I requested chimmichuri for the 6 of us, got 2 1oz ramekins a half hour later. No apology, no explanation why this tiny amount was to serve 6 adults.
