Nice, small, quaint cozy somewhat romantic setting with absolutely delicious food and drinks. Very high-quality food better than we expected was going to be high in the mountains. Great service extremely friendly very helpful. We will definitely return and highly recommend this place probably the best place in Winter Park and we have tried almost every restaurant here. This was by far one of the best meals I've had in a long time at any restaurant. I loved the soup and it was by far the best soup I've ever had I think in my entire life. UNDESIRABLE PRACTICES AND SERVICES? This would probably have been a 2-3 stars review if I were to write this before receiving my credit card bill, and I'll highlight a few things for the audiences' considerations. Food quality is not bad overall (say... 2.5 to 3.5 stars depending on the dish). "Ceviche de Pescado" was our favorite dish - fish was fresh and the lime juice was well balanced. "Robalo a la Plancha" (Grilled Chilean Sea Bass) was decent, and "Paella Mediterranea" was sadly quite overcooked. Then, there were a few areas where I had to deduct some points which unfortunately made it an 1-star review at the end. 1. Customer Service - While our server had a big smile at all time, she checked in with us with the "are you ready to order" question way too often and we felt her focus was to give our table to the next group of potential customers ASAP. (Side note: We made reservation a few weeks in advance, so it shouldn't be a situation where they squeezed us in their busy schedule.) At a point I was annoyed and ordered an appetizer (the ceviche) hoping she would leave us alone and gave us a chance to read the rest of the menu uninterrupted. That didn't help...... and the tipping point was when she stopped by literally within a minute after the ceviche was served (and I was putting the first bite in my mouth). As you'd imagine, this sort of killed our mood. We finished our meal and left in one hour. 2. Undesirable Business Practices a) Sparkling or Still - Shortly after we were seated, our server came by with two bottles in her hands and asked "sparkling or still". I know they're not the only restaurant that uses this sales tactic (to only outline chargeable options) these days, but it still annoys me... And quite frankly, it would have been perfectly fine if they asked "sparkling, still, or TAP WATER" instead. b) AUTOMATIC 20% Gratuity: We noticed a 20% gratuity was added to our bill. Again, they're not the only one doing this, but most other places would have informed the customers clearly on such policy. In this case, our server didn't mention this at all and the only reference was just some "fine prints" at the bottom of the menu (and I wonder how many customers might have missed that). 3. Incorrect credit card charges - When I received my credit card statement, I noticed the amount was higher than my record. Upon reviewing the numbers, I found the discrepancy was equal to the 20% gratuity amount. In other words, an attempt was made to charge me 40% gratuity in total...... While I was able to dispute via the bank (i.e. no financial loss), I wonder why the overcharging happened in the first place. For audiences' reference, below summarizes the key fields on the bill and I feel I've done what I can to avoid potential mis-understanding and errors: - Amount: Pre-filled by restaurant with full amount INCLUDING 20% gratuity - Additional Tip: I drew a diagonal line across this field - Total: I re-wrote the number from the "Amount" field above Hopefully our experience was an one-off "perfect storm" situation, and I sincerely hope others will have a much more enjoyable dining experience. read more

We enjoyed the fine dining here yesterday. The restaurant is cozy and relatively intimate. However they still welcome kids and babies. The staffs were super friendly and accommodating. The food is top notch. It is pricey but the food and service made up for it. We had the seafood paella and the Mediterranean paella. My kids had the fish and lamb chop. All of them were delicious. It's worth the splurge if you are in town. read more

Very nice atmosphere, great service and delicious food. We stopped in for our final dinner in WP and it was a great experience.

We had a little issue trying to find the place so we called for directions. They were helpful and we arrived just before our reservation time. Check-in at the front desk revealed that they were not ready for us. The hostess was congenial and said that it would be 5-10 minutes. So we patiently waited for 25 minutes before finally being seated. Not a good start. We finally got seated into a 4-Top (for 5 of us). A bit crowded but we managed. We thought, it's better than having to go somewhere else and wait again. Our waiter, Aldair, was very accommodating and on spot with service. Three of us decided to share a few plates and two ordered from the full dinner menu. Food was good, but not spectacular. We've spent a bit of time in Spain and perhaps expected a bit more. The paella mariscos was good, but lacked a socarrat. That's a no-no in Spain. Sangria was excellent and not too sweet. Ceviche was well flavored with a nice tanginess. The lamb chops were a bit of a different take. The sauce was flavorful, but not expected. Not sweet, but hinting of that. The Angus medallion dish (lomito cabrales) was tender and well cooked. Desserts were the chocolate soufflé and flan. Both tasty. All in all, the service was great. The food and wait time is what brought this rating down. For the price, I'd have to pass on it a second time. read more

They brought out olives with a nice presentation to start, great for a Spanish restaurant, but I am pretty sure they were black olives from a can. We had a fantastic dinner for two on a recent Monday night. We were very excited to find such a unique and enjoyable restaurant that made it really special for our night out on our trip. The decor and ambience is perfect for a special dinner. The food was outstanding. We had the mushroom Appetizer which was incredibly flavorful and a highlight above and beyond all the excellent food that we had in addition. We enjoyed the ceviche which was fresh and delicious. We also shared the Mediterranean paella which was cooked perfectly with a delicious combination of meats and seafood. The service was friendly, attentive, and did a great job making us feel welcome and helping us when we needed but not distracting or interrupting. The only suggestion would be for them to get a windscreen or temporary vestibule on the front entrance so that cold wind doesn't flow in when someone enters or exits. read more

Sea bass with mushrooms and fresh truffles was stupendous--the best cooked fish I've ever had in 60 years of restaurant dining--moist tender flakey. Ceviche spices were complex and yummy and the bread hot from oven was superb with a unique delicate flavor. Such a hidden gem in Winter Park, CO! I came here on a Monday night and really enjoyed the atmosphere, service and every dish! The paella's were small and meant for 1 person. For two people, we ordered the ceviche and seafood paella to split as we were not that hungry and agreed that the paella was a smaller portion for one person if you're hungry. The ceviche was delicious and all of the staff were very friendly. The space inside is small and cozy and we did not have a wait on a Monday evening in October but imagine they have long wait times during peak seasons and weekends. Paella is my #1 favorite dish so when my two best friends and I were on vacation and we decided to splurge on a 'fine dining experience.' What an absolute disappointment. We each received ridiculously small, individual portions of soggy, long grain, crunch-less, salty, flavor-lacking rice with our protein of choice (which was obviously cooked separately) mixed together. Our waiter, who was ruthlessly over-selling at every opportunity, got very defensive when we asked how the paella was prepared. Tried Paellas Restaurant by Cooper Creek Square for the first time. Our dinner was great, the service welcoming and fast. (For WP locals: Paellas is located in the spot where the Carver's breakfast place used to be, but moved in 2018.) Paellas serves Spanish cuisine; we had la paella de mariscos and las chuletas de cordero: both quite good. To me, places like Paellas are a welcome addition to Winter Park - bringing new menus & experiences to the valley. I did think it was kinda pricey, but welcome to 2022. Hands down the best service and food in Winter Park. Every dish has been cooked to perfection. Service is attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Whether you choose steak, soup of the day (butternut squash and fresh cream when I ordered) a salad, or the amazing churros, you will not be disappointed. The house wine is Tempranillo and paired perfectly with the filet. My glass was never empty, and although I didn't have room for dessert, I grabbed the churros to go. A brief pop in the microwave and I had a tasty set of finger sized churros to dip in cream, caramel, and chocolate sauce. Ordered some tapas to share - the tuna was fantastic, the cheese board item was good but nothing to exciting but good. The paellas ordered were all wonderful. Soup - Sopa Asturiana was very flavorful and wonderful on a cold night. The omelette potato item with truffles was very interesting and tasty. Also tried entree - Lomito Cabrales. For a place called Paellas you'd think the Paellas would be better. We went all around Spain last summer and got to sample lots of excellent food so when we saw this place we were excited to try something other than a burger or taco restaurant when skiing. It was a disappointing night. We ordered the sea bass and at paella. The seabass wasn't bad but it wasn't remarkable, the paellas arrived lukewarm and just didn't have much of any flavor. Overall it was a mediocre meal with mediocre service. read more
