We were given pretzels and a cheese sauce while we perused the menu. We opted to share the red fish with mashed potatoes and a crawfish sauce with some white wines. Dinner was delicious, service was quick and the atmosphere was perfect. Personally, I thought the fish was a little too salted, I would've preferred no salt and salt on the table. For dessert, we shared a rich decadent double chocolate bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream.

When it came to service however, it was severely lacking. Slow, understaffed and rude. I like to look at how a restaurant or bar's higher staff treat their employees. Bar Fontaine's managing staff should be VERY ashamed. I heard management tell off a server and bartender for making a very basic mistake and when I asked them how they liked working there, they simply replied "if I could do it over I would." According to them, the management is super nice to the customers but not to the employees constantly starting drama and making it difficult for an employee to keep their job. The head chef is also apparently a real a-hole and says inappropriate suggestive comments to their female staff as well, the server was telling me. When I was walking out of the hotel on the last day of my stay I encountered one of the managers and talked to them to see how they would treat me. It was an older woman with glasses. She treated me like an old friend which normally I would have enjoyed but this time I was absolutely disgusted. Just from what I was told, I will not be giving service to them again and will not stay at the hotel.

I had the sirloin cooked, medium, rare with a baked potato. The butter was melted, and the sour cream was a bit curdled, which told me it had been sitting under the light for a bit. It was cooked nicely and potato was fresh. The steak was tough but that's the nature of most sirloins. This was tougher than usual though. If you're saying, well why didn't you order the filet, I rarely order a filet out because I cook a darned good one at home. Mike had the seafood pasta. I tasted it and found it to be delicious. He was very happy with the dish other than the fact that it did not have the garlic bread it was supposed to and the young lady told us they did not have any tonight. Our friend's wife had the smoked chicken. That chicken breast should be pounded out evenly. It was entire too thick on one end. At least 2 inches thick. We found it to be extremely dry but the flavor was nice. Our friend had the shrimp plate with half grilled half fried. He was very happy with the shrimp, but even though he ordered the steak fries extra crispy, they were still not to his liking. Overall, it was a great meal, we learned some things that we would not order again. We did find it disappointing that there was no one there and it was 530 on a Monday night and they did not have garlic bread The steakhouse had little quaint cubbies to sit in. My wife's gumbo was very peppery, she knew that it would be from previous visits and she wasn't disappointed. She told me she would be able to eat only one or two spoonfuls at a time before taking a drink. But she ate the whole bowl! The decor is vintage. There are all kinds of Budweiser mobiles and pub mirrors on the walls. There was even a vintage cigarette vending machine with pull knobs for each selection!
